Muk makes a cool pairing with banded terrakion, as it threatens to turn traditional answers to banded terrakion into not being able to do their job if they get their items knocked and/or poisoned. This means that pokemon such as gligar and slowbro cannot risk being used to swap into muk, enabling muk to put in far more effort against the enemy team in turn. This enables terrakion to put in a lot more work against stall and balance teams. Being poisoned also means that alomamola gets 2hkoed by stone edge too, so you don't have to worry about rocky helmet or prediciton as much.
While mega slowbro still only gets 3hkoed when poisoned, the loss of regenerator makes up for this, forcing it to always waste turns staying healthy with slack off. While rest variants of both slowbros can clear the poison, normal slowbro will be 3hkoed after, and mega will still waste turns.
Muk is also in turn able to pursuit trap common revenge killers of banded terrakion such as latias and gengar, and ghost types that would make you second guess clicking close combat such as chandelure/gengar, when facing more offensive teams, and greatly threaten (and slowly chip away with pursuit if needed to) one of terrakions most common answers in doublade, putting it in range of earthquake.
