Built around Z-Bug + HP Ground Volcarona which struggles against Toxapex and Chansey. M-Mawile pairs well with Volc since it can severely weaken both Pex and Chansey. In return, Volc can beat Heatran for Mawile. Made M-Maw all-out-attacker because I like the super-effective coverage more than SD. Fini was chosen next as the Heatran pivot and Defogger. Misty Terrain is nice for Maw and Volc, plus it can check mons like Zygarde and opposing Volc. I needed a rocker and Koko check so Ferrothorn was added. Lando-T is the Scarfer; had to make it defensive Scarf for Zygarde. It has Toxic to bait Zapdos which was annoying to the team after testing. The last mon used to be Torn-T as a secondary Defogger and Kartana check, but like I said the team was annoyed by Zapdos so I put my own instead. After using Toxic on opposing Zapdos with Lando-T, I can go to my own Zapdos and Roost stall it. Made it Volt Switch for a Volt-Turn core so Maw and Volc can come in safely. I made Volcarona Swarm even though it lacks Substitute because in some situations Volc will have to take a hit regardless, so the extra power Swarm provides can be clutch in breaking through would-be answers or not needing to risk Fire Blast missing. It's kinda slow but it works.

I started to build this team around M-Dia+Volc core. Volc threatens Steels like M-Sciz and Kart for M-Dia, and M-Dia in return provides some hazard control and can break Heatran for Volc with EPower, allowing Volc to sweep. Protect makes M-Dia great anti-lead. I chose bulky Volc because of consistensy in checking Steels for M-Dia and others. I need a way to break Pex and Chansey, two big roadblocks for my primary wincon, Volc. I chose Zyg as my third mon. It breaks Pex and pressures Chansey. It's also my main Heatran switch-in. I feel like I need to put more pressure on Chansey, and team needs some bulk. I added Bulu. It pressures Chansey, gives my team a lot of special bulk and also beats with SD-boosted Superpower many Steels bar M-Sciz. Bulu is also my primary Ash-Gren switch-in. Grassy Terrain is great for my team, weakening EQ for M-Dia and slightly increasing longevity of my team with passive recovery. Since I use Volc, I need more than one way to remove hazards. Defog Scarf Kart is the first way, and SpDef Drill is the second way. Kart and Bulu create a Grass spam core, heavily pressuring many bulky builds. Kart is also my form of Speed control, revenge killer, and an alternative wincon thanks to Scarf and Beast Boost. Drill gives my team more special bulk, eases my Bulu matchup with Iron Head and, alongside Bulu, slightly improves my matchup vs Psyspam, forcing a mind games with either Lele or M-Zam. Drill also appreciates Bulu's Grassy Terrain halving the power of super effective EQ. Since I still lack of rocker, Drill gets it. I chose Iron Head > EQ, as it improves my Bulu matchup, which Stone Edge variants, although rare, can beat all my team. Iron Head also doesn't get weakened by Grassy Terrain.

Volcarona is often pressed for moveslots. You need Bug Buzz for T-tar and the Lati twins. You need Psychic for Pex. You need HP Ground for Tran. What better way to fit more coverage options than to drop Fire Blast? Now, I know what you're thinking, "doesn't that leave you walled by every Steel type?" You would be right, and that's where Alolan Golem comes in. Alolan Golem traps the Steel types that wall Volcarona, including Heatran, which allows Volc to run HP Ice for Lando. Eject Button Torn is there for clearing hazards and switching into Steel types to pivot into Golem. HP Fire Tang is there as an answer for Ash Gren and Kartana. Clefable is my rocker, and was originally Mega Diancie before I got destroyed by a Hawlucha. Zygarde is a second answer to Heatran and is just a generally good Pokemon.[/QUOTE]

I built this team around Buginium Z Volcarona and Whirlpool Tapu Fini, who traps Toxapex, Chansey, and other annoying pokemon. I opted for Surf on Fini because Heatran is a pain. Tangrowth checks Zygarde, M-Zam, Gren etc. Tornadus is the Bulu + Kart answer and also the defogger, metronome is a cool item to help pressure the likes of Toxapex and Clefable, Heat Wave is useful to hit M-Mawile, M-Scizor, Ferrothorn and Skarmory on stall. M-Lopunny is pretty good vs hyper offense and provides some level of speed control + priority. It also has Healing Wish to support Volcarona further. Excadrill is a bulky steel + a ground + rocker + secondary removal in one slot which is amazing on this team.

Hi there I don't feel like writing an essay right now so I'm building Pokemon teams to procrastinate. Seeing as BW is once again a focus in the tour scene with Stour currently running, I figured that using Volcarona on rain would be a cool homage to how it is occasionally used on rain in BW OU. The basic premise of the team is to hazard stack with ferro+pert, break with kingdra+pert, and set up for a late-game sweep with Volcarona. This team's pretty consistent against most types of offense and balance if you play competently because Volcarona just blows past a lot of these teams with heatran weakened/killed on top of the added pressures from the water types. Ash Greninja would honestly probably be a bit better over Kingdra, but I like the extra speed control against DD Zygarde for certain situations. This variant of the team autoloses to stall because I wanted to use BW sprites and Greninja isn't in that index, but if you wanna make it better vs stall you should change it to Specs Spikes Ash Gren>Kingdra and Taunt+Knock Torn>Zap and be able to pressure stall enough to end up winning in basically every matchup since torn kinda wins those matchups on its own with smart control of the hazard game.

Here's my Volc team, I started with BulkyVolc as there are a lot of Mawile that are rly annoying to deal with & it check plenty of others mons if needed, next I added Gastrodon as a way to deal with Ash-Greninja which is a big threat to Volcarona due to Water Shuriken, and Gastrodon works really well here as a blanket special check, plus it let the opportunity to Volcarona to come in against opposing Grass-type that likes to threaten Gastrodon, next adding a Hazard Remover was a necessity, and I wanted something that could help me to alleviate Volcarona's job as it already is really important to deal with Mawile, I wanted another grass type answer and something that could add some kind of speed control, so naturally Tornadus-therian was immediatly my choice, next I noticed that I had troubles dealing with defensive core, especially those featuring the Pex, I also wanted a back up answer to Heatran as a potential Grassium Z Toxic could just defeat every member of the team at this point, thats how Gliscor came here, Ice Fang is very important here as Zygarde is a big threat to the team at this point. Ferrothorn came next as Volcarona needs rocks up to do its job, I choose Ferrothorn because I know that i'll be forced to Defog at one point so I needed something that could SR multiple time, and with Volcarona attracting Water-Type, Ferrothorn has plenty of opportunity to set them up, plus Knock Off Ferrothorn is probably the easiest way to remove Heatran's leftovers which allows Volcarona to win the 1v1 if it doesn't have Toxic. Last but not least here's Diancie-Mega, I've wanted to use it in SM for so long, its a really potent Mega paired with Volcarona as with Magic Bounce you continuously pressure the opponent's rocker even without being on the field, I choose this set as a way to deal with Landorus-Therian as Protect let you scout the Scarf, HP Ice was initially here as an emergency button against Gliscor as it is a huge threat to the team, but it ended up being really useful as you have the opportunity to remove a non-scarfed Landorus really early as people tends to lead with it really often, and a Landorus dead is always sweet for a Volcarona team especially mine as it has multiple occasion to setup its rocks. overall its a really fun team that rely on Tornadus-Therian and Ferrothorn's Knock Off to create hole with Diancie/Gliscor to allow Volcarona to clean up later.

Team D is my favorite after testing, it is capable of remove threats that stop Volcarona and its easy to use, HW Lopuny helps a lot and that Exca Spread is excellent.

Voting for Team B. Played some games with a few set changes and I thought it worked well. The biggest weakness to me with Team B was CM Reuniclus/M-Latias, so I added Punishment on Scarf Lando-T to patch it, though it sucks forgoing HP Ice. Also, I think the Bulkarona set works well for Team B since it has two good Heatran checks and multiple ways of weakening Toxapex, specifically with Alakazam. Ferro can be annoying if Volc goes down early, but otherwise I like it.

Teams D and F also caught my eye. Team D seems a little too over-reliant on trapping Toxapex with Whirlpool Fini; if it fails, then Pex will ruin the team's day. I recommend running enough defense investment on Fini to live a +2 Acrobatics from Hawlucha after rocks.

Speaking of Hawlucha, that's the one issue I have with Team F, it has a clear and unfortunate weakness to that mon. I do think that the Bulkarona + M-Diancie + Gliscor core has potential however.

Magearna

Believe it or not this Pokémon was actually never done before in the competition, so it’s our next pick. Magearna has always been a reliable and versatile choice, be it from the scary Double Dance sets, the deadly Shift Gear three attacks, just your regular Assault Vest Magearna, some other unique set like Calm Mind Pain Split, or even—umm, do I really have to mention this set? I do? Okay—Offensive Trick Room—sigh—so show us what you got with Magearna, coloqually known as Magenera, Gearna, Gear, Mag, or whatever you call it!

I built this team to support Mega Alakazam + Magearna, which is one of the best offensive cores available right now, in my opinion at least. Mega Alakazam easily takes advantage of Toxapex, which is the only common Pokemon that reliably walls FleurFocus Magearna. It also wears down Celesteela, which is an awkward match up for Magearna if Celesteela is not weakened. Toxapex was added for its Toxic Spikes support, it also reliably checks Pokemon like Volcarona, Mega Lopunny, Keldeo, Magearna, and Greninja. Heatran sets Stealth Rock for the team, checks Tornadus-T, Celesteela, and Clefable, and can also burn Toxapex for Magearna. Magma Storm could be run to help with stall, but Lava Plume is generally more reliable, and the added burns are nice. Protect is chosen to scout Choice-locked Kartana, but Taunt could also be run in tandem with Magma Storm. Tapu Bulu checks Pokemon like Mega Alakazam, Tapu Koko, Zygarde, and Tapu Lele reliably. 96 Speed EVs are run to outspeed Adamant Crawdaunt. Protect is chosen to scout out Choice-locked Kartana once again. Landorus-T provides mandatory Defog support, it also provides pivoting support and blocks Volt Switch.

I started to build this team around Keld+M-Latios offensive core. Keld puts pressure on specially defensive mons like Chansey and Gastro with Specs-boosted Secret Sword and lures opposing M-Latios with Icy Wind. M-Latios in return beats the likes of Pex and M-Venu and lures M-Sciz, Heatran, and Ferro. These things appreciates this round's mon, Gear, which is my wincon. I chose CM+Split set to heavily pressure stall. Gear also uses many of my offensive core's answers like M-Bro and M-Latias as setup fodders. Then I added defensive core of FerroBro to check most notably both Grens and other stuff like Koko and Zyg. This core also gives my team rocks and Thunder Wave, allowing to possibly lure and paralyze Volc. Gear also appretiates TWave support because of its low Speed. Last mon is bulky Scarf Lando. It fills Ground, Speed and hazard control for my team, and also acts as a revenge killer.

Here's a Mega-Alakazam team i made with Calm Mind Pain Split Magearna which i think is a really solid set, Magnezone traps Ferrothorn & Celesteela which annoy Alakazam & Magearna, Tangrowth is a much needed water resist while Tank Chomp checks alot of key threats such as Mega Lopunny, Hawlucha, Heatran while providing excellent role compression & Fire resistance, Scarf Landorus provides speed control & form of Hazard Removal while still revenge killing important threats such as Mega Pinsir & Mega Alakazam.

I’ll go more in detail with this team since I plan to RMT it later, but the basic premise is to try to make this Mega Heracross + Tapu Bulu archetype work. After these two I immediately needed a Psychic check, I tried Celesteela several times but the archetype just wasn’t quite working the way I wanted, so I gave CM Pain Split Magearna a shot. It formes an excellent core with Tapu Bulu and the Grassy Terrain recover is immensely appreciated. Ash-Greninja felt like the obvious pick as an anti-offense tool and a win condition that appreciates the havoc wreaked by Mega Heracross. Lastly, Gliscor and Tornadus-T fit nicely forming a solid defensive backbone and including the much needed roles of Stealth Rock user, Defog user, Mega Mawile check, Heatran check, and Kartana check. All in all I’m very happy with this squad, but expect a more thorough analysis later.

This is a team I built around M-Charizard X and CM + Pain Split Magearna, a core that Ske Mask used in one of his teams. (I just realized this team is actually pretty similar to lyd's).

This Magearna set is suprisingly good at annoying bulkier teams while also performing a defensive role as a psychic and dark resist. Gliscor gives the team a decent Heatran answer as well as a rocker and a way to get momentum via U-turn. Ash-Greninja gives the team another breaker along with decent speed control and spikes, which makes Charizard even harder to switch into and makes Magearna even more annoying. AV Tangrowth is easy to throw onto a team and cover alot of threats (Ash-Greninja, Zygarde etc.) Tornadus is the best hazard remover, it's fast, bulky, has U-turn, Taunt and Regenerator.

I've tried using Taunt > U-turn on Gliscor and Knock Off > Taunt on Tornadus but I changed it and prefer this version.

Team C by Ske Mask The Slump God
