Staryu is one of the stars of LC, as it is the best Rapid Spin user in the metagame and has a great Speed stat that ties with Abra and outpaces Onix. Staryu is also very hard to revenge kill due to Rapid Spin's Speed boost putting it ahead of Abra and Diglett. It can also use Recover and Hydro Pump to check Pokemon like Onix and Choice Scarf Vulpix. Thunderbolt is Staryu's best coverage, threatening Vullaby and Water-types such as Mareanie and opposing Staryu. Staryu struggles with Grass-types like Ferroseed, Foongus, and Grookey, so partners like Vullaby, Vulpix, and Koffing pair well with it. Trappers such as Diglett and Trapinch also pair well with Staryu, as both can trap and OHKO Magnemite, while Trapinch can revenge kill Grookey with First Impression.

Staryu is one of the stars in LC, as it can pack a punch with its great Special Attack stat. It also has a high Speed Stat that ties with Abra, and is one of the best forms of entry hazard removal in the metagame.(15 SpA is honestly average; for the first few sentences, you wanna highlight its role in the metagame and be specific. It is the best Rapid Spin user in the tier and can check foes like Onix and Choice Scarf Vulpix cuz of Recover + Hydro while being difficult to revenge due to Spin Speed boost.) Hydro Pump allows Staryu to take care of Onix and Ponyta while threatening most Pokemon that try to switch into it's Analytic boosted Hydro Pump.(No explanation is needed for STAB moves) Thunderbolt is Staryu's best coverage that enables it to threaten Mareanie, opposing Staryu, and Vullaby.(Generalize to Water-types in general cuz other waters like Dewpider and Frillish exists) Rapid Spin makes Staryu able to to get rid of entry hazards while also providing it a Speed boost that allows it to outpace Abra.(incorporate this into the first section like mentioned above) However, Staryu struggles with Grass-types like Ferroseed, Foongus and Grookey so partners like Porygon Koffing and Vullaby pair well with it. (Ferroseed is the best Star check by far; Pory isn't the greatest grass check in the world -> Koffing (add a fire-type like Ponyta or Vulpix if u want)) Trappers such as Diglett and Trapinch also pair well with Staryu, as these can trap and OHKO Magnemite while Trapinch can revenge kill Grookey with First Impression.
