1 highlight from each series:
ORAS OU: ABR vs Gondra - Genuinely cant remember the last official team tour game ABR played outside of the 0-3 wcop and the RBY from this season so it'll be an interesting change of pace. Gondra has been a nice surprise in ORAS this season -- 3-3 is obviously not murdering the pool but he has had good games and some definite upsets so there is a lot of reason to believe he can get the historical upset here too. Team wise, I assume ABR stuff will look akin to seasons' stuff but who knows maybe there was a big style clash.
SV OU: Fc vs Finchinator - FC actually stands for FiftyfiftyChance I've found out. I predicted he would win last week by assessing history. Now that he is back to .500, a win or loss are both possible. Finch badly needs a rebound and this could be a good chance to prove he should be better than the mean if he plays up to his peak. This likely even ends up being the series decider with FC always leaning towards playing last so that's even more hype.
GSC OU: vani vs Fear - vani has flown under the radar pretty well while putting up some good wins. Fear, with conflict in ADV, is pretty clearly the best GSC name in the pool. This is vani's shot to take that title though (no offense siatam I see your record is the same too). Got a case of an almost david vs goliath, it's more like 5'11 vs 6'0 guy at the club if that makes sense.
SV OU: kumiko vs Gilbert arenas - kumiko's innovations this SPL have been really great. Definitely the best tour he's had since I've been on Smogon. Good teams and good play. Marcop is just such a wildcard I don't think you can ever count him out. He's been alright this SPL but every single week he fights tooth and nail with usually some nice offense. Might force kumiko to settle down on the innovating a bit, who knows.
SV OU: Storm Zone vs CTC - CTC said in smogtours he wanted to dodge storm zone. Naturally I had to pull out the sniper rifle and headshot the matchup. Storm has been solid for a while with an ok SPL, CTC has been top 2 OU this tournament while having a really invested 2023. If any game was gonna define the SV OU format in the coming weeks' it'd be because of the two teams brought here easily.
