Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Alrighty, new batch!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355480009
What is switching? At least the one switch all game is a smart one. Also for you Ubers players, Arceus-Fire sighting.
Let's not forget, of all things AIR BALLOON MEGA RAYQUAZA! it was pretty silly for R not to switch out p-oger for some physically defensive mon.

so this isn't a one liner, I have battles:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355517044
This one's plays make my head hurt. Rest for the best recovery confirmed lol

strange forfeits
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355517410 (mono togekiss gets owned by iron head m-mawile)
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355517356 (I'd have liked to see this one play out)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355517107

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355517433
At the end: wrong zard buddy! oh, and malmar putting in work

Why not doing a recap of the worst quotes seen in this thread (or in the last x pages)?
No one...? Alright...

Anyway, new, fresh replays!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-355747763
One of my semi-serious squads vs. a mono-Mawile team. What will happen?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355752592
One of those "looked promising" battles.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355753580
Wrong meta guys.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355753322
Bad (almost) mono-Dragon with type chart issues.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355754956
Another immortal quote:
★thealexfan: idk how to play this game

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355760330
Not going to go into this one. Bad sets and bad plays, basically.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-355760350
Shuckle stall failing horribly. Also:
★Laicka Mc'Virginia: you are kind of racist
★Laicka Mc'Virginia: RACISTS!!!!!

(L): TheAuraGuardian impersonator
(B): Mixed MMX
(R): Poison Jab on said mixed MMX
(L): Druddigon outside of RU and UU (it's only broken in RU people)
(L): Non-Mega Lucario
(L): Flame Wheel
(L): Infernape has literally no type coverage
(R): Precipice Blades. I know it has higher Power, but Earthquake is the better choice because it can't miss a non-evade boosted Mon.
(L): Dragon Dancing after being damaged by Primal Groudon in the first setup turn despite probably being able to take it out then and there
(L): Aura Sphere on non-Mega Lucario

Probably would have had more for R had they not completely decimated L

Precipice Blades is legit. High ladder Evasion has little use anyway.

Confuse Ray + Hypnosis Mr. Mime, Toxic Galvantula and three Pokémon boosting in front of Takane (Unawarefable).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356254808
Takane's unawareness strikes again against that Belly Drum Linoone spam team (which is in the 1550s).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356260648
That clutch awakening really saved me there against Nightmare Darkrai, although I should have recovered again vs Xerneas (a crit would have ruined that, though).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356500140
Mono-Fighting versus three Fliers and a Psychic, and the Fighters win. Check out why:
  • (L) Mence uses EQ when it could use Aerialate whatever and nuke anything (hence the Bullet Punch to chip it somehow).
  • (R) Hitmontop into...Toxicroak, which is promptly wiped out by EQ. The Bullet Punch chip damage is enough for Keldeo to kill it with Icy Wind, averting disaster.
  • (L) Calm Mind+Poison Jab Sitrus Cobalion, setting up on Mega Gallade. That is four, count them four, silly things in one bullet point. You're welcome.
  • (L) As we see from the Knock Off, a dual-mega setup. This isn't VGC. (Actually possibly a triple-mega, since Mewtwo never shows a Life Orb or lefties.)
  • (L) Sitrus Yveltal. Oblivion Wing not enough recovery?
  • (L) Mewtwo with Calm Mind, okay. Mewtwo with CM+Shadow Ball, okay. And then it reveals Light Screen.
  • (L) Sitrus #3, on Dusknoir.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-356499703
Fires get swept by Scarf Moxie Heracross. The Fire team uses Charizard as a Defogger (it led, so it ended up working), but Shuckle gets rocks back up. (Probably no Flash Cannon on Heatran.)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356499173
This was one of the most insane Metronome battles I've seen in a while. Two lists, one for the silly, one for the insanely good luck:
  • (L) It's a good idea, if you're running multiple Psychics, to have a pure Fairy to check Bugs and Darks. Said pure Fairy is not Clefable, but Togepi.
  • (R) Brick Break/Dynamic Punch/Giga Drain/Seed Bomb Breloom.
  • (R) EQ Camerupt (at least it has 100/105 offense to make a mixed set work).
  • (R) Tropius isn't Harvest-stalling anything in this game. ding (Okay, if I turned this into a round of CinemaSins, we'd be here all day.)
  • (R) Four mega candidates: Swampert, Gardevoir, Absol, and Camerupt. The actual mega? None of them.

  • Toxic Spikes
  • Spider Web
  • Water Sport against Camerupt (which switches to EQ next turn)
  • Drill Peck against Tropius
  • Grassy Terrain
  • Pluck against Tropius
  • Hammer Arm against Absol (welp)
  • Shell Smash (unfortunately that one gets knocked out that turn)
  • Blue Flare against Breloom
  • Petal Blizzard against Swampert

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-356499852
Stockpile? Really? This one is just pretty depressing in general.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-356497407
That moment when your team gets lit up by Emolga.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-356497750
Trick Room Jynx (admittedly Ice's only option for that) leads versus Scolipede. Beautiful. Some of the movesets are not so beautiful.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/flashclash-356499146
Greninja mirror...and one of them uses Scald. Niiiice. (And gets the burn, to precisely zero effect.)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356497761
You've seen left's team before (first replay). Check out their opponents.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356715386
Birdspam, meet Magnezone.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-356713964
Jumpluff, anyone? And a Mawile lands the final blow by Sucker Punching Zapdos.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356713303
A team with six possible megas, including Charizard, Rayquaza, a special Gyarados, and Foul Play Absol, mega evolves... Mewtwo, into MMY. The team gets walled by Squirtle for a while, then gets cleaned up by Rapidash.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356697725
If you're facing Curse Umbreon, it helps to do something other than spam physical moves against it. Result? Curse Umbreon sweeps.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356716228
Lava Plume Entei, and Quick Claw Donphan falling in a 1v1 to Mamoswine at the end.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogontriples-356719349
Mono Grass wins handily, mostly thanks to Cradily.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356719496
Mono Malamar vs. Ninjask and Mega Garchomp only. Ninjask fails to pass SD, eventually resulting in a loss.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356721820
Making most of your team weak to Ice Beam is not a good idea. Neither is non-Power Herb GeoXern.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356720442
Speaking of GeoXern, here's a team of 6 of them. Losing.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-356721259
A very bad Ho-Oh and Gengar using Sludge Bomb on Mawile highlight this one.

I wanted birdspam to completely destroy that team because it's an Undertale theme team I just want to see the infection be stopped okay
I'd share a match I had with me shitting all over an Undertale theme team if I actually saved it. So here, have an old replay of a certain Pikachuun forgetting the workings of their own Pet Mod.
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/aqua-choonmons-1200

Speaking of old replays, Pikachu induces an undue forfeit!

"Unusually-natured hax in an old replay of Other Metagames" or, how Will-o-Miss missed me... at the worst time possible.
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/higheststatmeta-278691283

Some more hax, this time in my favor, and then using a Grass move against Gogoat.

Local unofficial OM turned into VoltTurn hell by "inventive" Pikachu

I just wanted to test Megamons and I run into this:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/megamons-356859589
Three Mega Pokémon, the two Primals, and... Trevenant.

Primal Kyogre doesn´t spam Scald or Origin Pulse, instead it uses Thunder Wave against Magic Bounce Mega Sableye. That was either very stupid or - considering it prevented it from being burned by my Will-O-Wisp - very clever.
Primal Groudon attacks with Ancient Power and immediately gets a boost. After that it spams Dragon Claw and when I switch in my Mega Audino, it tries to get more Ancient Power boosts, I guess. Also uses Dragon Tail even though Dragon Claw already showed that Mega Audino doesn´t give a damn about Dragon.

Not to mention for some reason the Trevenant and MCY are level 50

Almost swept this guy with Copycatted move spam
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357392049
Numerous questionable plays from the opponent and -Spe Primal Groudon outspeeding Azumarill (one "highlight" of this battle was Zapdos attempting to use Tbolt on Primal Groudon)

This one is a doozy.

(L) Darumaka.
(R) Koffing.
(R) Smeargle trying to stack Stealth Rock.
(L) Earthquake Mega Blastoise.
(L) Sawk using Poison Jab on Blissey twice before switching to his STAB... which turned out to be Low Kick.
(R) Koffing had Return and Gyro Ball, the latter pairing rather poorly with Sticky Web.
(L) Bringing in Abomasnow against Hitmontop that had revealed Close Combat.
(L) Stunfisk with Aqua Tail, doing 31% to a -3 Hitmontop.
(L) Thunder is an improvement, even managing to paralyze Koffing. But then it misses three of them in a row... and then uses Rain Dance.
(R) Doublade uses Gyro Ball on Stunfisk (remember, R set up webs earlier). And then gets heavily damaged and paralyzed by Thunder.
(L) Hippowdon opts for Fire Fang over EQ against Hitmontop. Oddly enough, it works in Hippo's favor, as it burns Top and takes it out at the cost of its own life.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-357432932
Left is all about that trap, and right has a Bounce Hitmonlee for some reason.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357431146
Zoroark was disguised as Dragonite. Unfortunately this only becomes clear after Dragonite has gone down. Meanwhile, Confuse Ray Sableye (#ItGetsSwagger) is an annoying little bastard.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357432080
What the hell is this Togekiss? And why did Mega Ray think it could set up in its face? Come to think of it, right's team in general--and it's left who's salty, and with good reason.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357431986
(L) Rain Dance+Water Spout+PuP regular Blastoise. At least it had Rain Dish.
(L) Mixed Mega Gyarados, with Hydro Pump. Kinda doesn't work with 75 SpA.
(R) Milotic forgets Gyara isn't Flying-type anymore and uses Ice Beam. At least burn-fish.
(R) Rain Dance Crobat. I mean, it is fast, but wouldn't you rather have a Prankster?
(L) Blizzard Starmie, not worth it, next.
(L) Destiny Bond regular Houndoom, completely outplayed (the full-para probably didn't help).
(R) Cloyster had to be lacking Rock Blast, because why else would you use Icicle Spear on Primal Kyogre?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357428281
Right looks like a proper AG team...but it's not, it's really not. Have at it, it's simply depressing.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357430897
This is why Baton Pass Clause should be Smogon-wide (except AG, of course).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357430897
More Metronome fun, this time with six Clefable. Unfortunately they get swept by Hone Claws Giratina-O.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357428032
Drapion also gets Swagger, while its Confuse Rays have precisely zero effect. This is another general WTF battle, so dig in.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-357458543
Mono-Primal Groudon vs. The world, and the world contains only 5 Pokemon, Draining Kiss non-Mega Gallade (it gets Drain Punch you know), Torment Azelf, and non-Mega Abomasnow

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-357746010
Only Sylveon and Jolteon. I honestly wanted to see how this battle would have went.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-357746010
Four Aeroblasts in a row with no crit on any of them, and the Shuckle from hell I forgot to save it

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-358069550
Contrary MMY versus religion pseudo-theme team. Guess who wins.

Mono-mineral (because Gigalith isn't Ground-type) on right. Left starts to lose control from turn 15.
  • It sends out Avalugg and its atrocious 46 base Special Defense while it also has a Blissey and Nidoqueen is spamming special moves.
  • Superpower boosting Defense won't save Malamar against Nidoqueen.
  • Left finally sends out Archeops... who somehow manages to move after Nidoqueen. Please, tell me it wasn't planning to phaze the Nido.
  • Forfeits after sending out Blissey.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-358215867
Mono-attacker Extreme Killer Arceus on right (moveset fully revealed while Tyranitar was still alive on turn 6). Left has a Gengar in the back. Guess how many Pokémon left will sacrifice before realizing that...
★Polytheism:did you forget you had a ghost?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-358215881
Tons of potential gimmicks on left (including Entrainment Durant + Dugtrio), right has full pink team (counting shinies). A shame it didn't go further than Team Preview.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-358216304
Shuckle stall wins thanks to Rocky Helmet. No, Leftovers on Doublade (where's Eviolite?) won't delay the inevitable.
