[OVERVIEW]
Water
========
With its ability Unaware coupled with its decent physical bulk and reliable recovery, Quagsire is able to check a variety of setup sweepers such as Mega Scizor, Bisharp, and Mega Charizard X specifically for stall Water teams. Quagsire's Ground typing allows it to serve as an Electric immunity, thereby checking threatening Pokemon such as Zeraora, Magnezone, and Alolan Golem. However, its Ground typing also compounds its weakness to Grass-type moves. Because of this, it cannot check Grass-type setup sweepers such as Tapu Bulu, Breloom, and Celebi. Furthermore, despite having decent physical bulk, Quagsire's lackluster special bulk makes it unable to consistently check special setup sweepers such as Volcarona, Latios, and Mew. Quagsire is outclassed by other Electric immunities outside of stall teams, namely Swampert, which can set Stealth Rock, and Gastrodon with its fantastic special bulk, which can check big threats such as Choice Specs Tapu Koko and Kyurem-B for the team.

Moves
========
Scald has a chance to burn, which is particularly useful for crippling physical attackers such as Mega Gallade and Mega Scizor, allowing Quagsire to wall them more easily. Earthquake hits Electric-type Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Magnezone, and Alolan Raichu for super effective damage. Protect is extremely good on stall Water for scouting attacks, racking up Toxic damage, and giving Quagsire more Leftovers recovery; it also helps keep Quagsire out of range of Mega Gallade's Close Combat and Mega Pinsir's Return. Recover is Quagsire's form of reliable recovery and keeps it healthy throughout a battle. Toxic puts opposing walls, such as Porygon2, Mantine, and Rotom-W, on timers. Counter can be used over Toxic in order to surprise physical wallbreakers such as Choice Band Dragonite that Quagsire usually would not be able to handle.
Set Details
========
Maximum Defense investment along with an Impish nature allows Quagsire to switch into and check physical attackers such as Landorus-T, Choice Band Zeraora, and Mega Scizor with ease. It also minimizes the chances of Mega Gallade and Mega Pinsir 2HKOing Quagsire. Leftovers provides Quagsire with passive recovery and prevents it from easily being worn down throughout the battle. Unaware allows Quagsire to check threatening setup sweepers such as Zeraora, Dragonite, Landorus-T, and Bisharp.
Usage Tips
========
Protect should be used to scout for attacks, which is especially useful against Choice-locked Pokemon such as Tapu Koko and Latios. It should also be used to regain health using Leftovers and rack up Toxic damage. Quagsire should be preserved in order to check setup sweepers that threaten your team, such as Dragonite, Azumarill, and Bisharp. Recover should be used constantly in order to keep Quagsire healthy so it can keep on switching into physical and Electric-type Pokemon. Quagsire should generally prioritize keeping itself healthy over spreading status. Try to avoid status conditions, particularly poison, as they hinders Quagsire's ability to check setup sweepers by putting it on a timer. With that being said, if Quagsire does happen to get afflicted with poison, try to look for opportunities to use Heal Bell with Lanturn in order to cure its status and keep it healthy. Try to use Toxic liberally in order to catch Quagsire's checks and counters such as Hydreigon and Breloom off guard in case they switch in. This makes it a lot easier to wear down said checks and counters over time through switching. Try to remove entry hazards using Defog before Quagsire is sent out, especially if Toxic Spikes and Spikes are set, as the former will make checking setup sweepers extremely hard, while the latter makes switching directly into Pokemon that Quagsire is supposed to check difficult. In the Electric matchup, Quagsire should try to scout which Pokemon is carrying Grass Knot in order to prevent itself from getting unnecessarily knocked out. As Quagsire can typically beat Alolan Raichu without Grass Knot, it is a good switch-in to a large portion of Electric-types, which is valuable in the matchup. Against teams with Choice Band Victini, try to keep Quagsire healthy, as Quagsire is one of the few Pokemon on stall Water teams that counters it.
Team Options
========
The entirety of stall Water teams appreciate Quagsire's ability to defensively check setup sweepers such as Zeraora, Azumarill, Bisharp, and Mega Scizor. Quagsire appreciates Toxapex as a blanket defensive check and is able to switch into Grass-type Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur and Breloom while also being able to set up and remove Toxic Spikes and use Haze to remove boosts from setup sweepers Quagsire can't check such as Tapu Bulu, which it can threaten with Sludge Bomb. Lanturn is a great secondary Electric immunity due to Volt Absorb and its high Special Defense, allowing it to switch into strong Electric-type special attackers that otherwise threaten Quagsire like Choice Specs Tapu Koko and Grass Knot Alolan Raichu. Quagsire also appreciates its Heal Bell support that cures status conditions that wear it down, such as poison. Azumarill is able to switch into, trap, and beat threatening Grass-type setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Breloom and Tapu Bulu because of its ability in Sap Sipper. Mantine's special bulk and Flying typing allow it to switch into and check special attackers that Quagsire struggles with such as Landorus, Mega Charizard Y, and Celebi. Quagsire also appreciates Mantine's ability to remove entry hazards that cripple it upon switching in, such as Spikes and Toxic Spikes, using Defog. Similar to Mantine, Empoleon's special bulk and Steel typing also allow it to switch into special attackers that threaten Quagsire such as Mega Venusaur and Latios while being able to remove entry hazards using Defog. It can also check Calm Mind Mega Latias with Roar for Quagsire. Alomomola can use its much higher base HP to pass huge Wishes to Quagsire to support it if it ever gets worn down. Alomomola can also check special attackers using Mirror Coat and use Knock Off to hamper recovery by removing Leftovers and scout potentially dangerous attacks using Protect for Quagsire. Mega Slowbro's phenomenal Defense stat allows it to check physical wallbreakers that Quagsire is unable to check such as Choice Band Dragonite and Diggersby. Slowking is able to switch into a variety of special attackers such as Latios and Keldeo for Quagsire. It is also able to check Kommo-o and Mew, setup sweepers that Quagsire cannot check, with Dragon Tail.

Other Options
=============
Water
--------
Rocky Helmet can be used over Leftovers in order to chip contact move users down, but Leftovers's passive recovery is generally preferred. In addition, Rocky Helmet should not be used with Protect because Protect provides more passive recovery as one of its main merits. Curse and Waterfall can be used over Toxic and Scald in order to let Quagsire serve as a slow wincon, making it ridiculously hard for all physical attackersoutside of Grass-type Pokemon to beat.
Checks and Counters
===================
Water
--------
**Grass-types**: Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur, Breloom, and Celebi all knock Quagsire out with ease using their STAB Grass-type attacks.
**Special Attackers** Due to its low special bulk, Quagsire struggles to take hits from common special attackers such as Keldeo, Latios, Mega Diancie, and Landorus.
**Wallbreakers** Various wallbreakers such as Choice Band Dragonite and Choice Band Diggersby all threaten Quagsire with their strong attacks. However, physical wallbreakers need to be wary of being burnt by Scald.
**Toxic** Being badly poisoned hinders Quagsire's ability to check physical setup sweepers consistently, as it is now forced to switch out to prevent itself from being worn down.
**Taunt** Taunt users such as Gliscor, Hydreigon, and Mew are able to break through Quagsire by disabling its recovery and status moves and slowly wearing it down.
