Introduction:
The purpose of this guide is to get you, the player, to complete the game as quickly as possible. This guide will go through all the necessary steps in the game to complete it. It will also list where to find all the necessary HMs, Key Items, and where all the move tutors are located.

The Adventure Begins:
As soon as you begin the game, a blue screen will come up explaining what the various buttons in the game do. Next, it will show you a short story on the details of the adventure you're about to take. Once you finish the story, Professor Oak appears and has a Poké Ball with a Nidoran (F) in it. He then asks you to tell him a little about yourself, and asks you whether you are a girl or boy. The choice you make will have no in-game difference, it is just a matter of personal choice. He then asks you your name and the name of your rival, like the gender you choose, it has no effect in-game either. You will then shrink and end up in your room. To make things in the game go faster I would recommend going to your options and changing the Text Speed to "Fast" and the Battle Scene option "Off".

Head downstairs, go outside, and head north to the patch of grass exiting Pallet Town. Professor Oak will stop you once you try to leave and take you with him back to his research lab. Once inside his lab he asks you to pick one of the three Poké Balls beside you. The Poké Ball on the left contains Bulbasaur, the Poké Ball in the middle contains Squirtle, and the Poké Ball to the right contains Charmander. Once you have selected your starter Pokemon, your rival will choose the Pokemon that has a type advantage to the starter you chose (ie if you chose Bulbasaur he will choose Charmander).

Make your way out the building and your rival will come up to you and a battle will begin. Once the battle between you and your rival begins Professor Oak will explain to you how to battle. Whether you win or lose the battle doesn't effect you in-game besides the additional experience points and extra $80.

Now exit Professor Oak's research lab and head north from Pallet Town to Viridian City. Head straight to the Poké Mart in Viridian City and enter. The clerk will ask you if you know Professor Oak and if you can take his Parcel to him. Head south back to Pallet town and enter Professor Oak's research lab. Once you enter his lab talk to Professor Oak. Professor Oak then gives you and your rival a PokéDex and five Poké Balls. Once you have received the PokéDex, go to your rival's house (the house right next to yours in Pallet town) and talk to the lady inside the house (your rival's sister). She will give you a Town Map. Now that you have the necessary tools to begin your adventure, you can head off to start collecting badges!

Remember to use the Pokemon Center only when it is needed and make sure to stock up on plenty of Repels, but don't spend all your money on them, you'll need some money for other items as well, such as Revives and other HP healing items. Also remember that skipping in-game trainers will let you get through the game a lot faster, but at the cost of losing a lot of experience points in doing so, and with experience points comes useful EVs and higher levels.

The First Badge:
Head to Viridian City and go north. An old man will stop you and tell you how the PokéDex works and shows you how to capture a Pokemon. Unfortunately, you cannot skip this part... The old man then gives you the Teachy TV. Head north of Viridian City into Viridian Forest. To exit the forest follow the path right, up, left, up, right, up, left, down, left, up, left, down, left, and then up and you will be out of the forest.

Once you enter Pewter City, head north and enter the Gym. The Gym leader Brock specializes in Rock-type Pokemon, and his team consists of a level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix. Once you defeat Brock, you will receive the BoulderBadge and TM39 Rock Tomb from him. Now that you have the BoulderBadge, you can use HM Flash outside of battle.

The Second Badge:
Head east to continue on. Professor Oak's aide will be there and will give you a pair of Running Shoes from your mom. Continue following the path and then head north. Enter Rock Cave to move on. Head to the right side of the cave, go up, follow the path left, down, left, up, and then go down the ladder. Follow the path until you reach another ladder and go down it as well. Go right, go down the little pair of steps and up the second pair of little steps. Follow the path leading down, left, and then up. Battle the Team Rocket Grunt and continue heading north. You will be stopped by Super Nerd Miguel and will have to battle him. Once you defeat him he will let you take one of his fossils. The one on the left is the Dome Fossil and once revived will produce a Kabuto. The one on the right is the Helix Fossil and once it is revived it will produce an Omanyte. Follow the path left and then go up the ladder, there will be a second ladder, go up that one as well and you will be outside of Rock Cave.

Continue east and make your way to Cerulean City. Go up through Nugget Bridge and Route 24-25 until you reach Bill's house. Your rival will stop you before you reach Nugget Bridge and you will have to battle him. His team will consist of a level 17 Pidgeotto, level 18 starter, level 16 Abra, and a level 15 Rattata. Once you defeat your rival, he will give you the Fame Checker item.

Continue on through Route24-25 and enter Bill's house. When you enter Bill's house talk to the Clefairy doll. Once the Clefairy doll (Bill) enters the teleporter, go to the computer and press "A". Bill will then come out of the teleporter as himself and will give you the S.S. Ticket.

Head back to Cerulean City and go to the Gym. The Gym leader Misty specializes in Water-type Pokemon, and her team consists of a level 18 Staryu and a level 21 Starmie. Once you defeat Misty, you will receive the CascadeBadge and TM03 Water Pulse. Now that you have the CascadeBadge, you can use HM Cut outside of battle.

The Third Badge:
Go into the house with the cop next to it to leave Cerulean City. Head south of Cerulean City through Route 5 and enter the Underground Passage. Unfortunately, at this point of the game the passages to towns are blocked and Underground Passages will have to be used. Once you exit the Underground Passage, continue south on Route 6 until you reach Vermilion City.

Once you reach Vermilion City, head south to the dock and board the S.S. Anne. Head left, up the stairs, and then follow the path down and right. Your rival will then come down the steps and battle you. His team consists of a level 19 Pidgeotto, a level 18 Kadabra, a level 20 starter, and a level 16 Raticate. Once you defeat your rival, head up the stairs he appeared out of and talk to the captain. After you're done rubbing the captain's back he will give you HM01 Cut.

Exit the S.S. Anne and head back to Vermilion City's Gym. You will need to have a Pokemon that knows the HM Cut to get to the entrance of the Gym. To get to the Gym leader, you have to find two switches to turn off the electric gate. Press "A" on all of the garbage cans until you find the one that opens the first gate. The second switch will always be either above, beside, or below the first garbage can. Once you find both switches, the electric gate will turn off completely.

The Gym leader Lt. Surge specializes in Electric-type Pokemon and his team consists of a level 21 Voltorb, a level 18 Pikachu, and a level 24 Raichu. Once you defeat Lt. Surge, you will receive the ThunderBadge and TM34 Shock Wave. Now that you have the ThunderBadge, you can use HM Fly outside of battle.

The Fourth Badge:
Head east of Vermilion City and enter Diglett's Cave. Continue through Diglett's Cave until you reach a ladder, head up it and exit the cave and you will end up on Route 2. Go south and Cut through the two trees and enter the building. Inside the building will be one of Professor Oak's aides. Talk to him and he will ask you if you have obtained 10 or more different Pokemon species. If you have, he will give you HM05 Flash.

Once you obtain HM05, head back to Vermilion City and then head north to Cerulean City. Once you reach Cerulean City, head east and continue through Route 9 until you reach Route 10. Once you reach Route 10, head into Rock Tunnel. I would highly recommend you have a Pokemon that knows HM Flash with you, because the tunnel is dark and you will only have a small circle of light to work with otherwise. Head south, east, and then north until you reach the ladder. Head up the ladder and then go west and follow the path north until you reach a second ladder. Follow the path south until you find a ladder going down. Head northwest until you reach a ladder going up. Follow the path south, west, and then south again to exit the cave. You will come out on Route 10, head south to reach Lavender Town.

Head west of Lavender Town to Route 8 and continue on through Route 8 until you reach the Underground Passage. Once you exit the Underground Passage, you will be on Route 7. Head west to reach Celadon City.

Head south of Celadon City to reach the Gym; you will need a Pokemon that knows HM Cut to reach the entrance of the Gym. The Gym leader Erika specializes in Grass-type Pokemon and her team consists of a level 29 Victreebel, a level 24 Tangela, and a level 29 Vileplume. Once you defeat Erika, you will receive the RainbowBadge and TM19 Giga Drain. Now that you have the RainbowBadge, you can use HM Strength outside of battle.

The Fifth Badge (Fuchsia City Gym Badge):
Once you defeat Erika, head to the Celadon Game Corner. There will be a Rocket Grunt inside; talk to him, and then you will have to battle him. Once you defeat him, he will go down a hidden passage. To make the passage appear press "A" on the poster the Rocket Grunt was looking at and it will flip a switch making a pair of stairs appear. Head down the stairs to enter the Rocket Grunt Hideout. Go down the stairs across from the ones you just came down from. Then go down the third pair of stairs. There will be panels on the floor, here is some screenshots to show you the right way.

Follow the path of the drawn arrow.

Once you get past the panels, go down the pair of stairs. There will be a Rocket Grunt on the floor you came down on, battle him and he will drop the Lift Key. Head back to the second floor of the Rocket Hideout. There will be more panels that you will need to cross. Here are some more screenshots to show you the way.

Follow the path of the drawn arrow.

Go to this spot once finished following the above directions.

Follow the path of the drawn arrow.

Follow the path of the drawn arrow.

Once you get past the panels, head into the elevator. Enter the elevator and go to the fourth floor. Battle the two Rocket Grunts on the fourth floor and the door in front of them will open. Head inside the room and talk to Team Rocket Leader Giovanni.

Once you defeat Giovanni, he will leave and drop the Silph Scope. Now that you have obtained the Silph Scope, leave the Rocket Hideout and head back to Celadon City. Before you leave Celadon City, go to the Celadon Mansion and talk to the lady on the first floor. She will give you a cup of tea, take the tea to any of the guards of the Underground Passages to each of the towns. The guard will drink it, share it with the other guards, and you can now go through all the Underground Passages. Head east of Celadon City until you reach a tree that can be Cut. Cut the tree down and enter the passage. Once you exit the passage, there will be a house. Enter the house, and inside will be a girl; talk to her and she will give you HM02 Fly. Now that you have everything you need from Celadon City, Fly back to Lavender Town to continue.

Once you reach Lavender Town, head to the Pokemon Tower. Head up the stairs and your rival will be waiting there. You will then have to battle him. His team now varies depending on what starter you chose in the beginning. Once you defeat your rival, continue through the Pokemon Tower until you reach the Ghost. The Ghost is actually a Marowak that was killed by Team Rocket. Now that you have the Silph Scope item, you can see the ghost and battle it. Once you faint the Marowak, continue up the stairs. Head up the stairs and defeat the three Rocket Grunts. Once you defeat them, talk to Mr. Fuji and he will take you back to his house and give you the Poké Flute.

Despite Fuchsia City's Gym not being the fifth in actual order, it will be the next and fifth in this guide due to it being faster and easier to obtain. There is two ways to get to Fuchsia. You can head south of Lavender Town and go through Routes 12-15, or you can head west of Cerulean City and go down Cycling Road on Routes 16-18. The latter option is recommended because it is a lot quicker; however, you can take the other route if you would like to obtain the Super Rod. Both routes have a Snorlax blocking their way. Now that you have the Poké Flute you can awaken him.

Once you get to Fuchsia City, head to the Gym. To get to the Gym Leader Koga you will need to follow the path inside the Gym. Despite being almost invisible, there are little white squares that are "walls" in the Gym. The Gym Leader Koga specializes in Poison-type Pokemon, and his team consists of a level 37 Koffing, a level 39 Muk, a level 37 Koffing, and a level 43 Weezing. Once you defeat Koga, you will receive the SoulBadge and TM06 Toxic. Now that you have the SoulBadge, you can use HM Surf outside of battle.

The Sixth Badge (Saffron City Gym Badge):
Once you defeat Koga, head to the Safari Zone so you can get HM Surf and the Gold Teeth to get HM Strength. Below are some screenshots to show you the way to both items.

Head northeast of the entrance to the Safari Zone to get to the next area.

Follow the pathway the picture is facing, go down the steps, and then go north to get to the next exit.

Directions shown above.

Keep walking until you reach this mound of dirt and head down the other pair of stairs on the other side to reach the next picture.

Directions shown above.

(Go down a bit from the picture above and you will find the Gold Teeth to get HM Strength)

Obtaining the Gold Teeth.

Head left of the post in the picture above and you will find the Resthouse with the man inside that gives you HM Surf.

Obtaining HM Surf.

Once you exit the Safari Zone, head to the Warden's house in Fuchsia City. Talk to him, and he will take the Gold Teeth and then give you HM04 Strength. Now that you have both HM Surf and Strength, head back to Saffron City. Head into Silph Co. and follow the directions in the screenshots below to get the Card Key item to open the doors in Silph Co.

Step on the panel in front of you.

Go back onto the panel you just came from.

Now head right and you will find the Card Key.

Now that you have the Card Key, head to the ninth floor of Silph Co. and go down the hallway with three bushes. Open the two doors and there will be a lady between two beds. If you talk to her, she will heal your Pokemon. Continue up until you reach a panel, take that panel and it will take you to a room with a Scientist. Open the door to the right of him and take that panel. Your rival will be there and you will have to battle him. Again his team differs depending on what starter you chose in the beginning. Once you defeat your rival, head to the panel and it will take you the the eleventh floor.

Head down the hall and open the door, head into the room and Giovanni will battle you. His team consists of a level 37 Nidorino, a level 41 Nidoqueen, a level 35 Kangaskhan, and a level 37 Rhyhorn. Once you defeat him, Giovanni and all the Team Rocket Grunts will leave Saffron City, so you can now enter the Saffron City Gym. Before you leave Silph Co., talk to the President of Silph Co. and he will give you a Master Ball. Now head to the Saffron City Gym and follow the steps in the screenshots below to reach the Gym Leader Sabrina.

Step on the panel in front of you.

Step on the panel in front of you.

Step on the panel in front of you.

Step on the panel in front of you. Once you step on this panel you will be in the same room as the Gym leader Sabrina.

The Gym Leader Sabrina specializes in Psychic-type Pokemon and her team consists of a level 38 Kadabra, a level 37 Mr. Mime, a level 38 Venomoth, and a level 43 Alakazam. Once you defeat Sabrina, you will receive the MarshBadge and TM04 Calm Mind.

The Seventh Badge:
Fly back to Pallet Town and follow Route 21 until you reach Cinnabar Island. Once you reach Cinnabar Island, head inside the Pokemon Mansion to find the Secret Key to open up the Cinnabar Island Gym. Head up the first flight of stairs and then go to the statue next to the pair of stairs you just came up from. Press "A" on it and it will flip a switch and open a door. Head up to the room where the door was just opened and head up the stairs. Press "A" on the statue in front of the stairs you just came up from and head down to the area where the door just opened. There will be an area where the floor has given out, go all the way to the left and fall down the floor. Head towards the stairs and go down them in the area you just fell to. Once you head down, the stairs go into the middle room and flip the switch on the statue. Then go west and head north until you enter the room to the right. There will be another statue, flip its switch as well. Then head left to a room with an item on the table. Pick it up and now you have the Secret Key. Now head to the Cinnabar Island Gym.

The Cinnabar Island Gym is different from other Gyms. For this Gym, you have to answer questions by talking to the machines in the Gym. If you answer the questions right you get to skip the trainer, but if you get it wrong you must battle them. Here's a list of all the correct answers to get through the Gym faster, but remember that skipping trainers will result in a loss of valuable experience points and EVs.

First question: Caterpie evolves into Metapod? [Yes]
Second question: There are nine certified Pokemon League Badges? [No]
Third question: Poliwag evolves three times? [No]
Fourth question: Are Electric moves effective against Ground-type Pokemon? [No]
Fifth question: Pokemon of the same kind and level are not identical? [Yes]
Sixth and final question: TM28 contains Tombstony? [No]

The Gym Leader Blaine specializes in Fire-type Pokemon and his team consists of a level 42 Growlithe, a level 40 Ponyta, a level 42 Rapidash, and a level 47 Arcanine. Once you defeat Blaine, you will receive the VolcanoBadge and TM38 Fire Blast.

The Eighth Badge:
Once you exit the Cinnabar Island Gym, Bill will come up to you and ask you if you would like to go to One Island with him. I would recommend you say no, because going there isn't needed to get through the game; however, like always, you will miss out on gaining experience. If you ever would like to go to One Island and you say no the first time he asks you, you can always talk to Bill inside the Cinnabar Island Pokemon Center.

Fly to Viridian City and head to the Gym. Now that you have seven badges, the Gym leader has returned. To get to the Viridian City Gym Leader Giovanni, head into the part of the Gym with three trainers, with two facing the other. Follow the path up and make the Karate Man come down from where he was. Once you defeat him, go back to the entrance and take the panel north, and the panel will then make you go left. Continue on to the Gym Leader Giovanni.

The Gym Leader Giovanni specializes in Ground-type Pokemon. His team consists of a level 45 Rhyhorn, a level 42 Dugtrio, a level 50 Rhyorn, a level 44 Nidoqueen, and a level 45 Nidoking. Once you defeat Giovanni, you will receive the EarthBadge and TM26 Earthquake.

Victory Road:
Now that you have all eight badges, you can make your way to Indigo Plateau, where you will face the Elite Four. Head west of Viridian City and enter the building. Go through all the guards until you reach the Victory Road entrance. Below are some screenshots to show you the way through Victory Road.

I don't know if you're going to change the format at all, but I highly recommend breaking each badge into two or three paragraphs, as it will help the reader pay closer attention to detail. That way, it will be easier to follow this guide point by point when reading this guide along side of playing the game.

Also, I've only only skimmed this guide but this stuck out to me:
HM 05 Flash: Received from Professor Oaks aid on Route 2 once you have obtained or more Pokemon.
I can't remember if it's 10 or 20, but obviously you'll have to note this. This guide and the In-game Tiers guide actually inspired me to run through the game so I am doing so. If you need any screen shots I'd be happy to assist. I'm at Nugget Bridge right now so anything after this point is possible. I can take screen shots of the S.S. Anne, though it isn't the most difficult thing to navigate.

Alright, I'll edit the badges into paragraphs for easier reading and yea it's 10 Pokemon you need to get the HM Flash, I guess I wen't to look to see how many it was and forgot to put it in lol...

And as for the screenshots I think I have all the screenshots I need right now, everything else in the guide is pretty obvious or you can follow the instructions in the guide. Thanks!

I think you should watch my speed run for Fire Red hosted on Speed Demos Archive and see what you can add or take away from your speed run strategy.

I do intend to redo the run myself eventually, but the BIGGEST asset is Squirtle/Wartortle/Blastoise's Torrent ability, and I don't think you mentioned that at all!

Introduction:
The purpose of this guide is to get you, the player, (comma) to complete the game as quickly as possible. This guide will go through all the necessary steps in the game to complete it. It will also list where to find all the necessary HM's HMs, Key Items, and where all the move tutors are located.

The Adventure Begins:
As soon as you begin the game a blue screen will come up explaining what the varius buttons in the game do. Next it will show you a short story on the details of the adventure your you're about to take. Once you finish with the story, (comma) Professor Oak appears and has a Pokeball Poké Ball with a Nidoran (F) in it. He then asks you to tell him a little about yourself, and asks you whether you are a girl or boy. The choice you make will have no in-game difference, (comma) it is just a matter of personal choice. He then asks you your name and the name of your rival, like the gender you choose it has no effect in-game either.

Once inside his lab he asks you to pick one of the three Pokballs Poké Balls beside you. The Pokeball Poké Ball on the left contains Bulbasaur, the Pokeball Poké Ball in the middle contains Squirtle, and the Pokeball Poké Ball to the right contains Charmander. Once you have selected your starter Pokemon, (comma) your rival will choose the Pokemon that has a super effecitve type to the starter you chose (ie if you chose Bulbasaur he will choose Charmander).

Make your way out the building and your rival will come up to you and a battle will begin. Once the battle between you and your rival begins Professor Oak will explain to you how to battle. Whether you win or lose the battle to your rival doesn't effect you in-game at all besides going up a level from expierence points and getting an extra $80.

Now exit Professor Oak's (add apostrophe) research lab and head north from Pallet Town to Viridian City. Head straight to the Pokemart Poké Mart in Viridian City and enter. The clerk will ask you if you know Professor Oak and if you can take his Parcel to him. Head south back to Pallet town and enter Professor Oak's (apostrophe) research lab. Once you enter his lab talk to Professor Oak. Professor Oak then gives you and your rival a Pokedex PokéDex and five Pokeballs Poké Balls. Once you have received the Pokedex PokéDex go to your rival's house (the house right next to yours in Pallet town) and talk to the lady inside the house (your rival's sister). She will then give you a Town Map. Now that you have the necessary tools to begin your adventure you can head off to start collecting badges!

Remember to use the Pokemon Center only when it is needed and make sure to stock up on plenty of Repels, but don't spend all your money on them, you'll need some money for other items as well such as Revives and other HP healing items. Also remember that skipping in-game trainers will let you get through the game a lot faster, but at the cost of losing a lot of experience points in doing so, and with experience points comes useful EVs and higher levels.

The First Badge:
Head to Viridian City and go north. An old man will stop you and tell you how the Pokedex PokéDex works and shows you how to capture a Pokemon. Unfortunately you cannot skip this part... The old man then gives you the Teachy TV. Head north of Viridian City into Viridian Forest. To exit the forest follow the path right, up, left, up, right, up, left, down, left, up, left, down, left, and then up and you will be out of the forest.

Once you enter Pewter City head north and enter the gym. The gym leader Brock specializes in Rock-type Pokemon, (comma) and his team consists of a level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix. Once you defeat Brock you will receive the Boulderbadge and TM 39 Rock Tomb from him. Now that you have the Boulderbadge, (comma) you can now use the HM Flash outside of battle.

The Second Badge:
Head east to continue on. Professor Oak's aide will be there and will give you a pair of Running Shoes from your mom. Continue following the path and then head north. Enter the Rock Cave to move on. Follow the path left and then go up the ladder, there will be a second ladder, (comma) go up that one as well and you will be outside of the Rock Cave.

Continue east and make your way to Cerulean City. Go up through the Nugget Bridge and Route 24-25 until you reach Bill's house. Your rival will stop you before you reach the Nugget Bridge and you will have to battle him. His team will consist of a level 17 Pidgeotto, level 18 starter, level 16 Abra, and a level 15 Rattata. Once you defeat your rival, (comma) he will give you the Fame Checker item.

Continue on through route 24-25 and enter Bill's house. When you enter Bill's (apostrophe) house talk to the Clefairy doll. Once the Clefairy doll (Bill) enters the teleporter, (comma) then go to the computer and press "A". Bill will then come out of the teleporter as himself and will give you the S.S. Ticket.

Head back to Cerulean City and go to the gym. The gym leader Misty specializes in Water-type Pokemon and her team consists of a level 18 Staryu and a level 21 Starmie. Once you defeat Misty you will receive the Cascadebadge and TM 03 Water Pulse. Now that you have the Cascadebadge, (comma) you can now use the HM Cut outside of battle.

The Third Badge:
Go into the house with the cop next to it to leave Cerulean City. Head south of Cerulean City through Route 5 and enter the underground path Underground Passage. Unfortunately, (comma) at this point of the game the passages to towns are blocked and underground passages will have to be used. Once you exit the Underground Passage, (comma) continue south on Route 6 until you reach Vermilion City.

Once you reach Vermilion City, (comma) head south to the dock and board the S.S. Anne. Head left, up the stairs, and then follow the path down and right. Your rival will then come down the steps and battle you. His team consists of a level 19 Pidgeotto, a level 18 Kadabra, a level 20 starter, and a level 16 Raticate. Once you defeat your rival, (comma) head up the stairs he exited appeared out of and talk to the captain. After you're done rubbing the captain's back he will give you HM 01 Cut.

Exit the S.S. Anne and head back to Vermilion City's gym. You will need to have a Pokemon that knows the HM Cut to get to the entrance of the gym. To get to the gym leader, (comma) you have to find two switches to turn off the electric gate. Press "A" on all of the garbage cans until you find the one that opens the first gate. The second switch will always be either above, beside, or below the first garbage can. Once you find both switches, (comma) the electric gate will turn off.

The gym leader Lt. Surge specializes in Electric-type Pokemon and his team consists of a level 21 Voltorb, a level 18 Pikachu, and a level 24 Raichu. Once you defeat Lt. Surge, (comma) you will receive the Thunderbadge and TM 34 Shock Wave. Now that you have the Thunderbadge, (comma) you can now use the HM Fly outside of battle.

The Fourth Badge:
Head east of Vermilion City and enter the Diglett's Cave. Continue through Diglett's Cave until you reach a ladder, head up it and exit the cave and you will end up on Route 2. Go south and cut Cut through the two trees and enter the building. Inside the building will be one of Professor Oak's aides. Talk to him and he will ask you if you have obtained 10 or more different Pokemon species. If you have, (comma) he will give you HM 05 Flash.

Once you obtain HM 05, (comma) head back to Vermilion City and then head north to Cerulean City. Once you reach Cerulean City, (comma) head east and continue through Route 9 until you reach Route 10. Once you reach Route 10, (comma) head into the Rock Tunnel. I would highly recommend you have a Pokemon that knows the HM Flash with you, (comma) because the tunnel is dark and you will only have a small circle of light to work with otherwise. Head south, east, and then north until you reach l the ladder.

Once you exit the Underground Passage, (comma) you will be on Route 7. Head west to reach Celadon City.

Head south of Celadon City to reach the gym,; you will need a Pokemon that knows the HM Cut to reach the entrance of the gym. The gym leader Erika specializes in Grass-type Pokemon and her team consists of a level 29 Victreebel, a level 24 Tangela, and a level 29 Vileplume. Once you defeat Erika, (comma) you will receive the Rainbowbadge and TM 19 Giga Drain. Now that you have the Rainbowbadge, (comma) you can now use the HM Strength outside of battle.

The Fifth Badge (Fuchsia City Gym Badge):
Once you defeat Erika, (comma) head to the Celadon Game Corner. There will be a Rocket Grunt inside; talk to him, (comma) and then you will have to battle him. Once you defeat him, (comma) he will go down a hidden passage. To make the passage appear press "A" on the poster the Rocket Grunt was looksing looking at and it will flip a switch and making a pair of stairs will appear. Head down the stairs to enter the Rocket Grunt Hideout. Go down the stairs across from the ones you just came down from. Then go down the third pair of stairs. There will be panels on the floor, here is some screenshots to show you the right way.

Once you get past the panels, (comma) go down the pair of stairs. There will be a Rocket Grunt on the floor you came down on, battle him and he will drop the Lift Key. Head back to the second floor of the Rocket Hideout. There will be more panels that you will need to cross. Here is some more screenshots to show you the way.

Once you reach Lavender Town, (comma) head to the Pokemon Tower. Head up the stairs and there will be your rival will be waiting there. You will then have to battle him. His team now varies depending on what starter you chose in the beginning. Once you defeat your rival, (comma) continue through the Pokemon Tower until you reach the ghost. The ghost is actually a Marowak that was killed by Team Rocket. Now that you have the Silph Scope item you can see the ghost and battle it. Once you faint the Marowak, (comma) continue up the stairs. Head up the stairs and defeat the three Rocket Grunts. Once you defeat them, (comma) talk to Mr. Fuji and he will take you back to his house and give you the Pokeflute Item Poké Flute.

Despite Fuchsia City's Gym gym not being the fifth in actual order, (comma) it will be the next and fifth in this guide due to it being faster and easier to obtain. There is two ways to get to Fuchsia. You can head south of Lavender Town and go through Routes 12-15, (comma) or you can head west of Cerulean City and go down Cycling Road on Routes 16-18. The ladder latter (lol) option is recommend because it is a lot quicker; however, you can take the other route if you would like to obtain the Super Rod item. Both routes directions have a Snorlax blocking their way. Now that you have the Pokeflute Poké Flute you can awaken him.

Once you get to Fuchsia City, (comma) head to the Gym gym. To get to the gym leader Koga you will need to follow the path inside the gym,. VS. Seeker: Obtained from a women in the Vermilion City Pokemon Center.

OK some things:

1. Whenever you start a sentence with a preposition, like once, you need a comma after that phrase. As in Once upon a time, or Once you have finished,. Yeah, that was rife throughout the analysis.

2. PokéDex, Poké Ball, and Poké Mart are the correct terms for those things, with the accent on the e. Whether or not you add the accent on the e on Pokemon is up to you, but those terms need the accent there, otherwise it looks like "poke ball" instead of "poke-ay ball."

3. "HM Cut" and "the HM Cut." There was major inconsistency in the write-up, and while both are correct, I changed all of the instances to the former as I think HM Cut, etc. are proper nouns, and just as you wouldn't say the Michael, or the Jubilee, I wouldn't say the HM Cut. However, if you view HM Cut as just a noun, not a proper noun, then adding the in front of them is correct.

4. Kind of like the above example, Diglett's Cave, Rock Tunnel, etc. are proper nouns, so you wouldn't say "the Diglett's Cave," you would just say "Diglett's Cave."

5. Underground Passage. I'm not sure if the game uses this as a proper noun or if you made it a proper noun. If the game uses it as a proper noun, then all instances should be capitalized and there shouldn't be the in front of it. If you don't think it's a proper noun, then uncapitalize all instances of it.

6. In front is two words.

7. Gym. I'm not sure if this needs to be capitalized or not. You rarely capitalized it, so I made all instances of it uncapitalized. However, Gym in the games is probably a proper noun, so you may need to capitalize all instances of the word.

8. Make sure every instance of Route is capitalized.

9. Be sure that every kind of trainer, Hiker, Fisherman, Bug Catcher, etc., is capitalized.

10. I put a lot of time in this check, so please don't be a dick and be sure to implement all of these changes carefully.

Outside of all of the that, it was a very good article content-wise.

Implemented all your changes, thanks for the check Oglemi! (Sorry it's such a big article >_<)

As for Gym and Underground Passage I checked my cartridge and they are both capitalized, so I went through the article and capitalized them all.

Oh, I forgot to mention that in the TM Locations section that you should add "Can be bought at" in front of "Celadon Game Corner," for like TM 13, etc. If you don't, then it implies that they are just lying there like at the other locations.

Introduction:
The purpose of this guide is to get you, the player, to complete the game as quickly as possible. This guide will go through all the necessary steps in the game to complete it. It will also list where to find all the necessary HMs, Key Items, and where all the move tutors are located.

The Adventure Begins:
As soon as you begin the game, (comma) a blue screen will come up explaining what the various buttons in the game do. Next, (comma) it will show you a short story on the details of the adventure you're about to take. Once you finish the story, Professor Oak appears and has a Poké Ball with a Nidoran (F) in it. He then asks you to tell him a little about yourself, and asks you whether you are a girl or boy. The choice you make will have no in-game difference, it is just a matter of personal choice. He then asks you your name and the name of your rival, like the gender you choose, (comma) it has no effect in-game either.

Once you have selected your starter Pokemon, your rival will choose the Pokemon that has a super effecitve type advantage to the starter you chose (ie if you chose Bulbasaur he will choose Charmander).

Make your way out the building and your rival will come up to you and a battle will begin. Once the battle between you and your rival begins Professor Oak will explain to you how to battle. Whether you win or lose the battle to your rival doesn't effect you in-game at all besides the additional experience points and getting an extra $80.

Once you have received the PokéDex, (comma) go to your rival's house (the house right next to yours in Pallet town) and talk to the lady inside the house (your rival's sister). She will then give you a Town Map. Now that you have the necessary tools to begin your adventure, (comma) you can head off to start collecting badges!

Remember to use the Pokémon Center only when it is needed and make sure to stock up on plenty of Repels, but don't spend all your money on them, you'll need some money for other items as well, (comma) such as Revives and other HP healing items.

Unfortunately, (comma) you cannot skip this part... The old man then gives you the Teachy TV. Head north of Viridian City into Viridian Forest. To exit the forest follow the path right, up, left, up, right, up, left, down, left, up, left, down, left, and then up and you will be out of the forest.

Once you enter Pewter City, (comma) head north and enter the Gym. The Gym leader Brock specializes in Rock-type Pokemon, and his team consists of a level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix. Once you defeat Brock, (comma) you will receive the Boulder Badge and TM39 Rock Tomb from him. Now that you have the Boulder Badge, you can use HM Flash outside of battle.

Continue on through Route 24-25 and enter Bill's house.

The Gym leader Misty specializes in Water-type Pokemon, (comma) and her team consists of a level 18 Staryu and a level 21 Starmie. Once you defeat Misty, (comma) you will receive the Cascade Badge and TM03 Water Pulse. Now that you have the Cascade Badge, you can use HM Cut outside of battle.

Surge, you will receive the Thunder Badge and TM34 Shock Wave. Now that you have the Thunder Badge, you can use HM Fly outside of battle.

Once you defeat Erika, you will receive the Rainbow Badge and TM19 Giga Drain. Now that you have the Rainbow Badge, you can use HM Strength outside of battle.

(screenshots)

Once you get past the panels, go down the pair of stairs. There will be a Rocket Grunt on the floor you came down on, battle him and he will drop the Lift Key. Head back to the second floor of the Rocket Hideout. There will be more panels that you will need to cross. Here are some more screenshots to show you the way.

(screenshots)

Now that you have the Silph Scope item, (comma) you can see the ghost and battle it.

Once you defeat Koga, you will receive the Soul Badge and TM06 Toxic. Now that you have the Soul Badge, you can use HM Surf outside of battle.

The Sixth Badge (Saffron City Gym Badge):
Once you defeat Koga, head to the Safari Zone so you can get HM Surf and the Gold Teeth to get HM Strength. Below are some screenshots to show you the way to both items.

(screenshots)

Once you exit the Safari Zone, head to the Warden's house in Fuchsia City. Talk to him, and he will take the Gold Teeth and then give you HM04 Strength. Now that you have both HM Surf and Strength, head back to Saffron City. Head into Silph Co. and follow the directions in the screenshots below to get the Card Key item to open the doors in Silph Co.

(screenshots)

Now that you have the Card Key, head to the ninth floor of Silph Co. and go down the hallway with three bushes. Open the two doors and there will be a lady between two beds. If you talk to her, (comma) she will heal your Pokemon.

(screenshots)

The Gym Leader Sabrina specializes in Psychic-type Pokemon and her team consists of a level 38 Kadabra, a level 37 Mr. Mime, a level 38 Venomoth, and a level 43 Alakazam. Once you defeat Sabrina, you will receive the Marsh Badge and TM04 Calm Mind.

The Seventh Badge:
Fly back to Pallet Town and follow Route 21 until you reach Cinnabar Island. Once you reach Cinnabar Island, head inside the Pokémon Mansion to find the Secret Key to open up the Cinnabar Island Gym.

[Yes]
Second question: There are nine certified Pokémon League Badges? [No]
Third question: Poliwag evolves three times? [No]
Fourth question: Are Electric moves effective against Ground-type Pokemon? [No]
Fifth question: Pokemon of the same kind and level are not identical?

Once you defeat Blaine, you will receive the Volcano Badge and TM38 Fire Blast.

To get to the Viridian City Gym Leader Giovanni, easily head into the part of the Gym with three trainers, with two facing the other. Follow the path up and make the Karate Man come down from where he was. Once you defeat him, (comma) go back to the entrance and take the panel north, and the panel will then make you go left.

Once you defeat Giovanni, you will receive the Earth Badge and TM26 Earthquake.

(screenshots)

The Elite Four:
Before you face the Elite Four, make sure you stock up on as many Revives, Full Restores, and Hyper Potions as you can as you will definitely need them! Below is a list of the whole Elite Four in the order in which you will face them.

Lorelei: She specializes in Ice-type Pokemon. However, four of her Pokemon are the Water-type, so Electric-types, Grass-types, and Fighting-types are very useful in defeating her. Her team consists of a level 52 Dewgong, a level 51 Cloyster, a level 52 Slowbro, a level 54 Jynx, and a level 54 Lapras.

Bruno: He specializes in Fighting-type Pokemon. Psychic-type and Flying-type Pokemon are very useful in defeating him. He also has two Onix, which are easily OHKOed by any Water- or Grass-type attack. His team consists of a level 51 Onix, a level 53 Hitmonchan, a level 53 Hitmonlee, a level 54 Onix, and a level 56 Machamp.

Agatha: She specializes in Ghost-type Pokemon. However, all five of her Pokemon are the Poison-type, so Psychic-type Pokemon easily defeat her whole team unless they are outsped. Her team consists of a level 54 Genger, a level 54 Golbat, a level 53 Haunter, a level 56 Arbok, and a level 58 Gengar.

Lance: He specializes in Dragon-type Pokemon. Ice-type Pokemon and Electric-type Pokemon are very useful in defeating his team. His team consists of a level 56 Gyarados, a level 54 Dragonair, a level 54 Dragonair, a level 58 Aerodactyl, and a level 60 Dragonite.

Your Rival the Champion: The last member of the Elite Four is your rival. His team varies depending on what starter Pokemon you chose in the beginning.

If you chose Bulbasaur, your rival's team will consist of: (remove colon) a level 61 Pidgeot, a level 59 Alakazam, a level 61 Rhydon, a level 61 Exeggutor, a level 63 Gyarados, and a level 65 Charizard.

If you chose Charmander, your rival's team will consist of: (remove colon) a level 61 Pidgeot, a level 59 Alakazam, a level 61 Rhydon, a level 63 Exeggutor, a level 61 Arcanine, and a level 65 Blastoise.

If you chose Squirtle, your rival's team will consist of: (remove colon) a level 61 Pidgeot, a level 59 Alakazam, a level 61 Rhydon, a level 63 Arcanine, a level 61 Gyarados, and a level 65 Venusaur.

Changes implemented, thanks Aeron Ee1.
One thing though, all the badges in the game do not have a space in their name.
Such as "CascadeBadge", that is how you correctly spell it in the game, so I left all the badges as they were.
