Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe
Tera Type: Fairy
Bold Nature
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp / Hurricane
- U-turn
- Roost
Moltres uses its excellent set of resistances and Flame Body to frustrate common physical attackers like Kingambit and Iron Valiant. It also turns U-turn from Meowscarada and Landorus-T, normally free ways to grab momentum, into dangerous risks. Will-O-Wisp burns the aforementioned physical attackers and potential switch-ins like Ting-Lu, while Hurricane OHKOes Great Tusk and threatens Thermal Exchange Baxcalibur. U-turn generates valuable momentum, especially as it can often force out most physical attackers. Tera Fairy maintains the all-important Fighting resistance and checks non-Iron Head Kingambit while dropping all of its painful weaknesses; notably, Tera Fairy allows Moltres to switch into Stealth Rock more easily if it eats a Knock Off. 12 Speed EVs let it outpace Kingambit. Moltres struggles to handle physical attackers that do not care about getting burned like Ursaluna and Baxcalibur, making secondary checks to them like Dondozo appreciated. Moltres also invites in common special attackers like Choice Specs Dragapult and Walking Wake, so reliable answers to them like Ting-Lu and Galarian Slowking, respectively, are good teammates.
