[LLAMA R2, POOL F] waterwarrior vs. Rainman Legends

LORE, LEGENDS, AND MORE ACTION, ROUND 2

The above heading depics a totally fair matchup

"Back for Round 2! I wonder if I should just make this my new job."

"You already have the AI do all the work for you back at the Elite Four right?"

"Sssssh! No one was supposed to have heard of the AI. But whatever. Let's introduce our fighters."

"On the left side of the arena is our seasoned veteran and Ice-type gym leader. Waterwarrior is known for stupidly OP gym arenas, choking, and sometimes actually playing well when he feels like it. And he is going to have to play well here. But first let's look at his team. Watch out for 'Paul "I actually have a nickname"' the Dragonite. Multiscale is awesome, dat movepool is awesome, and its matchup is (mostly) awesome."

"On the right is a dude that some people *coughimanaltcough* have never heard of, but is still not to be overlooked. This here is Rainman Legends's first tournament, and he sure knows how to pick his mons. Watch out for 'Glenn the Frog the super redundant nickname' the Greninja, because it's freaking Skill Frog. That said, it at least requires quite a bit more skill than Skillkeys or Skilltaker, but it by definition has a good matchup against everything (well, almost everything)."

Landorus (Titan)
Type:
Ground:
Immune to Sandstorm. Ignores Arena restrictions on Dig and Seismic Attacks for Arenas in which any land mass exists, Evasive Digging reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.
Flying: Immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes. when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves that hit Pokemon on the field regardless of position.
Abilities:
Sand Force:
This Pokemon thrives in Sandstorm conditions, using the power of the swirling sand to augment its Rock-, Ground-, and Steel-typed attacks. Each of this Pokemon's Rock-, Ground-, and Steel-typed attacks will have the Base Attack Power increased by two (2). Pokemon with this ability are immune to Sandstorm damage.
Sheer Force (H): No default effect. When toggled, this Pokemon can energize all its attacks with a secondary effect (These are damaging moves that either lower the target's stats, raise the user's stats, or inflict a status condition on the target). The Base Attack Power of every move with a secondary effect increases by two (2), but they will never have their usual secondary effect.

Type:
Water:
Ignores arena restrictions on Water attacks that require an external water source. Evasive Diving reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.
Dark: Ignores Attract and Confusion status entirely when using Dark-type damaging and non-damaging attacks.
Abilities:
Torrent:
When this Pokemon's HP is lower than 33%, the Base Attack Power of any water attack is increased by two (2). (eg Water Pulse goes from 6 to 8, Hydro Pump from 11 to 13)
Protean (H): By default, this Pokemon switches their type before striking with each damaging attack to match the attack they are about to use, and keep that type until another damaging move is used. The energy cost for the attack is calculated based on their type before using the move. When toggled, the Pokemon reverts back to their natural typing. Pokemon that also have Color Change ability may select whether to keep their current type or the damaging attack's type each action.

Adds an additional guaranteed attack on all multi-hit moves (does not include two hit moves) with a total hit cap of five (5).
Fighting: Ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

Swarm:
When this Pokemon's HP is lower than 33% (flat), the Base Attack Power of any Bug-typed attack is increased by 2. (eg Silver Wind goes from 6 to 8, X-Scissor from 8 to 10)
Guts: This Pokemon is tenacious and will work ever harder when under a status condition, raising the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by two (2). Pokemon with Guts ignore the attack drop from burn.
Moxie (H): This Pokemon gets psyched after it earns a KO on an opposing Pokemon, increasing its attack by one (1) stage. This boost is maintained at the end of each round.

Well I guess I'll just go with Carl's Hat @ Lucarionite then (actually not the worst matchup against a Skill Frog)

(Mega Evolve) Focus Blast -> Cross Chop -> Focus Blast
If Low Kick, change that action to Counter and push back
If Greninja is a Ghost-type when you would attack, change that action to Dark Pulse
If Dive without suspension, change that action to Dig and push back

Ugh I hate ordering first against these damn things

"Oh hey I'm up! And it's round one of this fight! Nice."

"The combatants release their initial Pokemon. Rainman Legends chooses the trusty Skill Frog while waterwarrior goes with the hard-hitting Mega Luke Skywalker. Lucario has more in terms of damage but waterwarrior has to order first against a Skill Frog, which is easier said than done."

"Greninja begins the round like a true ninja, using U-Turn to not only gain a resist to Lucario's main STAB, but also to get itself out of the arena. Apparently Rainmain Legends is playing conservatively with his Skill Frog. Lucario has none of it and smacks Greninja in the face with Focus Blast, which would have done upwards of 30 damage had Greninja not changed type. Greninja then spends the rest of its round setting up Spikes while Lucario hit it in the face with a Cross Chop and Focus Blast."

"In terms of damage, waterwarrior is ahead, but Rainman Legends has at least 36 damage from the two layers of Spikes he has set up, and gets to U-Turn out his Skill Frog into a more adequate Lucario check."

Rainman Legends switches out Greninja and orders.

Landorus holding Life Orb

[Toggle Sheer Force ON]

Stealth Rock-->Earth Power-->Focus Blast

If Lucario uses a Damaging Ice Type Combo and you have not used Protect the Previous Action, Use Protect and push actions back
If Lucario is under the effects of Magnet Rise when you are about to use a Damaging Ground Type Move and Gravity is not up, Use Gravity and push actions back.
If Lucario is under the evasive stage of Dig AND Gravity is in effect, Use Bulldoze first instance, Dig second, and Bulldoze third instance and push actions back

Calling sending in Lando a bad move is a damn understatement... Carl's Hat, this is gonna hurt. A lot. Although really, Stealth Rock and 56 DMG is a small price to pay for having a 100% chance of a dead Lando next round without even having to bring out the big boy Carl himself!

"This round begins by Rainmain Legends using his Landorus to continue piling on the hazards with Stealth Rock. Now all he needs to do is bring Greninja in and set up three more sets of hazards! But I digress. Lucario uses this time to smack Landorus with three Ice Punches, almost killing it by the end of the round. Landorus, however, uses its Sheer Force+Life Orb combo to pile on some serious hurt with Earth Power and Focus Blast. Lucario's on pretty low health, but Landorus's health is even lower, and waterwarrior has a guaranteed kill next round, and going first to boot!"

"This round, we see waterwarrior using his Lucario extremely efficiently. Shall we?"

"Waterwarrior begins with Endure, a move that Rainman Legends forgot to sub for, as he orders his Heracross to Mega Evolve and Thrust its Arm into Lucario's face for some nice damage. Lucario is having none of it and lands a critical Blaze Kick, denting the Heracross's armor as it proceeds to retaliate with Earthquake. Turn three Heracross repeats its Arm Thrust after Lucario hits it with a Psychic."

"Rainman Legends's team is down to 118 HP while waterwarrior has only used one Pokemon so far. Stealth Rock and Spikes are going to hurt, but waterwarrior's team still has a 178 HP total at their disposal, not to mention a Kyurem waiting in the wings. And Lucario is still very far from dead, still healthy enough to unleash some sort of finishing combo next round. That said, Rainman Legends now has a Mega Heracross and a Skill Frog and can switch freely, which is not to be underestimated."

"This round, we see Lucario putting in work."

"Lucario, on its last legs and about to die, has one last trick up its metaphorical sleeve. It uses Feint+Blaze Kick*, which is unfortunately not Fire-type, but despite not hitting for SE damage it still does a decent amount to Heracross. Of course, it collapses from exhaustion immediately afterwards, but such is life."

"This round we see Rainman's investment of entry hazards putting in work. At the start of the round, waterwarrior sends out his ace, Carl the Kyurem, who immediately cries out in pain as he takes 33 damage. Ouch."

"Cue the actual battle. Carl is obviously outmatched but waterwarrior has a nice strategy--by sacrificing most of his HP advantage he can give himself the best matchup he can get against Skill Frog, and against Skill Frog he'll need the best matchup he can get. Anyways Carl does some nice damage to Heracross with a Hyper Beam, but is forced to breathe heavily afterwards, and is in no position to brace himself for a Rock Blast which does more than 30 damage. Ouch. Maybe waterwarrior didn't make the right choice after all. Enigma Berry helped a bit but not much. Carl then used Glaciate on Heracross, slowing it down a bit, while Heracross retaliates with Arm Thrust for again, 30+ damage. Having taken 76 damage this round, Carl obviously wasn't happy and finished Heracross with a Draco Meteor."

"waterwarrior still has a 61 HP lead, factoring in entry hazards, but now he'll have to contend with Rainman's mon that he's been avoiding the whole time--Skill Frog. Still, he has two Pokemon left to do it and one of them is a freaking Dragonite. Will Dragonite collapse under the might of Skill Frog's Ice Beam? We'll find out after the break."

Ordering first against a Greninja.... that is my LEAST favorite thing to do

Dragon Claw -> Draco Meteor -> Dragon Claw
If Greninja is a Fighting-type when you would attack, change that action to Zen Headbutt
If Greninja is a Fairy-type when you would attack, change that action to Iron Head
If Dive without suspension and NOT in a combo, change that action to Fly

"This round, Rainman Legends has second order with his Skill Frog, and we see him...stall..."

"Action 1 and Action 3 are the boring part. Greninja pulls up a Mat Block as Kyurem's Dragon Claw bounces off the mat. Action 2 could have been interesting had Skill Frog not flinched Kyurem with Rock Slide. So basically Rainman Legends got 20 free damage in at the cost of, well, ordering second with Skill Frog."

"waterwarrior still has his huge HP lead and is now ordering first, and with Kyurem's stats and neutral coverage, this is not going to be easy for Rainman Legends."
