Hooooo boy this is gonna be a long walrus. That one horns segment that didn't suck saves this from a 1. The vocals are ironically impressive. Get fucked Von.

Ocean Eyes by Billie Elish (Astronomyy Remix)

I was worried when they spelled astronomy with two y's. This is a pretty boring pop track made even more repetitive due to the remix. There's not really anything remotely exciting about it. Her voice is pretty forgettable, it's the same four bars over and over gain. I guess its kind of atmospheric? Fits the water motif at least.

This is way too boy bandish for me. I don't like how everyone raps a sentence and it moves on tot he next person, ruins the flow and makes it disjointed in a bad way. Baekhyun has a good voice, nobody else sticks out. You did manage to get all four elements in the same song though!

This would score higher without the stupid chant that has all seven girls at the same time. Why do you even need seven vocalists in the first place. I like this slightly more than the previous Asian Pop group.

Stiches by Shawn Mendes

Super generic and bland. There's nothing really wrong with it, it's just boring and I've heard it a million times on the radio. The harmonies are decent, only really noteworthy part of the song. Writing/backing are boring, Mendes isn't charismatic/talented enough to carry a song like this. Pretty light on elemental references.

I don't even know what to write about this one, it had almost no impact on me. Medicore EDM is so boring.

Yawn. This guy's a good singer, but I feel like I could fall asleep to this track. There's not enough there to keep you invested over the length it holds. The outro is like two minutes, The instrumentals aren't captivating enough for the nature of the song.

Oceangrave by Disarmonia Mundi

Not a fan of the techno beat mixed with the other metal elements. Feel like it can work just not properly executed in this track. I do enjoy the writing for this, last four lines juxtaposing with the first chorus is cool, and the echoes work well.

Fire by Barns Courtney

I'm a big fan of this guys voice. every time I hear from him makes me want to listen to him more. Unfortunately he also makes super boring music. No effort going into these songs at all. Saying 'gimme that fire' three times in a row wth oohs does not make a good chorus. Get him with a band that knows what they're doing.

Hero by Machinae Supremacy

Machinae Supremacy are good. But man, did their vocals improve as they got older. The instrumentals and effects are some good power metal-y stuff. I like the opening riff. Vocals are incredibly off pitch in many places though, the remastered version of this song fixed that and would score higher.

Guilty pleasure song for me. I like Ed and this track, even if it's the only song I know by him. I like it more when DMX and Biggie are rapping on the instrumental unfortunately.

Oh yeaaaah. Got that classic oldies feel. Like the opening riff, Just a good banger overall, sorry not much to say. Doesn't really WOW you anywhere.

Ring of Fire by Krewella

Edgy but still pretty decent. I'd rave to this. Her voice works well with the electronica and the drop hits hard. It's a little repetitive, but that comes with the genre sometimes I guess.

Oceania by Bjork

The fact everything in this song is made by a human voice is cool. It's really weird (expected from Bjork, I know). She's a very gripping and unique vocalist. Not as big a fan of the background vocals that aren't melodic, but the beatboxing kicks ass and the end of the song is very powerful.

What Lies Beneath by Andy James

Some solid guitar playing, guy certainly knows how to work the strings. It gets a bit samey after awhile, but he's technically there and it sounds good. Would appreciate a little more variation. I don't really feel the earthiness of the song, although you weren't docked for that.

Earth Song by Michael Jackson

MJ's vocals are always great. This song loses its potency after too much exposure though. The first half, the build up is much more effective. Loses too much steam over second half. I have a hard time rating even my least favorite Michael Jackson songs anywhere below 7.

The Breeze by Dr. Dog

A charming little song. Surprisingly, I like the folky vocals. Banjo is really nice. The song has great pacing, going from restrained to vibrant over the course of the track. (Percussion/keyboard coming in, harmonies, then the woodwinds.)

Another Way to Die by Disturbed

Another song I was taken by surprise. Was expecting typical Nu Metal shit, but the frontman really brought his A game. His delivery is less whiny/pitchy and more gruff, a fitting departure from what I expect of the genre. Intro sets the song up well, good writing/structure, evolving choruses are cool.

We are the Sea by Marnie

TOO MUCH WATER. Just kidding, this song is really atmospheric and catchy. I've liked her vocals in both tracks she's performed. The bass line is a good backdrop and has you boppin' to the beat. The synths almost feel like waves crashing, neat little effect. The only thing holding this track back is the outro, which lasts far too long. Probably moves up a few places it it cuts after less than a minute.

Hell on Earth (Front Lines) by Mobb Deep

A good song really driven by the melancholy beat. It's wistful and poignant. I like Havoc's verse more than both of Prodigy's in this song. The hook is excellent.

Symphonic Rain by Ritsuko Akatzuki and Masumi Asano

Just beautiful. Excellent dreamy vocals. The harmonica is an excellent choice in the backing, and the jazzy piano fits very well. Definitely want to check out more of the soundtrack this is from.
