Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Eruption
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock / Dragon Pulse
Choice Scarf Heatran is an unorthodox yet potent set because of its ability to spam a powerful Eruption against types like Electric and Ground and fill a speed control role, notably allowing Excadrill to use a setup set instead of Choice-locking itself. Furthermore, its item allows Heatran to outspeed threats like Landorus-T, Galarian Moltres, and Kyurem. One of Flamethrower and Fire Blast is required due to Eruption's damage output being reliant on Heatran's current HP stat. Earth Power targets Fire- and Rock-types like opposing Heatran, Cinderace, and Terrakion. Stealth Rock provides role compression and can trick the opponent into thinking Heatran is not Choice-locked; however, Dragon Pulse is an alternative to hits Dragon-types like Hydreigon and Dragapult. Swords Dance Excadrill and Choice Specs Jirachi make great teammates, as they're no longer limited to running Choice Scarf. Ferrothorn provides Spikes and checks Water-types like Tapu Fini and Swampert, while Corviknight checks Ground- and Fighting-types like Excadrill and Keldeo and provides U-turn momentum to bring Heatran in safely for powerful Eruptions.
