move 2: Shadow Sneak
move 3: Shadow Claw / Iron Head
move 4: Close Combat
item: Eviolite
ability: No Guard
nature: Adamant
evs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Doublade's excellent typing and bulk enable it to check and set up on Heracross, Mienshao, Cobalion, and Stakataka. However, Doublade struggles with its heavy reliance on Eviolite to augment its bulk and general competition with other Steel- and Ghost-types like Cobalion, Alolan Marowak, and Metagross. Doublade is also easily revenge killed because of the prevalance of Zarude, and many faster threats like Xurkitree and Noivern easily avoid an OHKO from +2 Shadow Sneak. Shadow Claw is resisted by very few Pokemon and gives Doublade a more powerful Ghost-type attack to hit the likes of Galarian Slowbro, Metagross, and Golisopod. Alternatively, Iron Head enables Doublade to threaten Fairy-types like Galarian Weezing, Togekiss, and Sylveon. Close Combat hits Steel-types like Cobalion, Steelix, and Stakataka as well as Dark-types like Zarude, Incineroar, and Obstagoon. Toxic can be used to weaken Pokemon like Seismitoad and Milotic, which otherwise check it, but is difficult to fit into Doublade's moveset. 44 Speed EVs enable Doublade to outpace uninvested Rhyperior.
Togekiss and Galarian Weezing check troublesome Dark-types like Incineroar and Zarude for Doublade. Assault Vest Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro help Doublade answer certain Fairy- and Psychic-types that it can't adequately check like Necrozma, Gardevoir, and Sylveon as well as other special attackers that capitalize on its poor Special Defense like Noivern and Raikou. Grass-types like Zarude, Roserade, and Rotom-C threaten Water-types that check Doublade like Milotic, Seismitoad, and Suicune. These same Water-types also partner well with Doublade by checking the likes of Rhyperior, Darmanitan, and Incineroar.
