[OVERVIEW]

Decidueye is a reliable pivot that can also provide Defog support for a team. Some of the perks it has over other Defoggers are the ability to offensively check common Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand and defensively check Pokemon like Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Passimian, lack of a Stealth Rock weakness, and a slow U-turn to bring another teammate in safely. While these traits are appealing, Decidueye's defensive typing and low Defense stat leave it plagued by common NU Pokemon such as Incineroar, Braviary, Garbodor, Mega Glalie, and Sneasel; the latter especially can Pursuit trap it. Decidueye's low Speed also means it is often outpaced by prominent threats such as Golbat and Rotom. Because Decidueye usually only runs Grass-type coverage, it is easily defensively checked by Pokemon such as Alolan Exeggutor, Druddigon, and Dhelmise. It is also very vulnerable to residual damage from status conditions and entry hazards. As a utility Pokemon, Decidueye faces fierce competition from Xatu and Rotom, which arguably have stronger defensive utility with Magic Bounce in Xatu's case and Will-O-Wisp and Levitate in Rotom's case. Decidueye also faces competition from Dhelmise, which boasts a much greater offensive presence and a superior matchup against bulkier Stealth Rock users like Steelix and Druddigon.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Decidueye is a good user of Defog because it can pressure entry hazard setters such as Rhydon, Steelix, Seismitoad, and Palossand with Grass Knot. Roost keeps Decidueye healthy throughout the match so it can continue to pivot in against Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Medicham. U-turn lets Decidueye exit the battle from bad matchups such as against Incineroar, Delphox, and Magmortar. Giga Drain can be used instead to give Decidueye an extra form of recovery and can potentially get it out of KO range from Slowking's Fire Blast.

Set Details
========

With the given EV spread and a Colbur Berry, Decidueye can take two Knock Offs from Passimian and is able to pivot in and out of special attackers such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Comfey. It can also survive Pursuit from Sneasel and more or less get out of the battle with U-turn. 16 EVs in Speed allow Decidueye to outspeed maximum Speed Rhydon. Long Reach allows Decidueye to pivot out with U-turn without being punished by Xatu and Garbodor's Rocky Helmet. Leftovers is also a viable item on this set to give Decidueye more passive recovery.

Usage Tips
========

Decidueye should aim to clear entry hazards as soon as possible, but make sure that Toxic Spikes are cleared first, as being afflicted with bad poison hinders its solid bulk. In order to get Decidueye into battle, it is advised to bring it in against a Pokemon it is not immediately threatened by such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Passimian locked into Close Combat. It can also come in against common Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand as they are setting up entry hazards. This play can be risky, though, because Rhydon, Palossand, and Steelix can threaten Decidueye with heavy damage. Since Decidueye can usually force these Pokemon out of the battle, it can be a good idea to use Roost if it has taken prior damage or U-turn to escape from Grass-resistant Pokemon like Incineroar, Sceptile, and Togedemaru.

Team Options
========

Pokemon like Incineroar, Mega Glalie, and Braviary appreciate Decidueye's ability to clear entry hazards and beat Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Seismitoad. Incineroar can also form a U-turn core with Decidueye and check Ice- and Grass-types for it, while in return Decidueye can help beat Water-types for Incineroar. Grounded Poison-types like Garbodor can help clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye. Garbodor also appreciates Decidueye's ability to beat Stealth Rock setters. Decidueye can also form VoltTurn cores with Pokemon like Passimian, Heliolisk, and Rotom. Passimian can also help Decidueye beat Dark-type Pokemon like Sneasel, while Rotom can help beat Ghost-types like Dhelmise. In return, Decidueye can beat Ground-types for Rotom and Heliolisk, letting them use Volt Switch more often. Pokemon like Rhydon, Togedemaru, and Sneasel appreciate Decidueye's immunity to Fighting-type moves. Bulky Water-types like Slowking, Vaporeon, and Blastoise can help keep Fire-types at bay. Vaporeon can also use Heal Bell to heal Decidueye of status conditions.

[SET]
name: Offensive Defog
move 1: Defog
move 2: Leaf Storm
move 3: Roost
move 4: U-turn
item: Colbur Berry / Grassium Z
ability: Overgrow
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Leaf Storm can easily pressure Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Seismitoad, which is why Decidueye makes a good offensive Defogger. Roost heals Decidueye if it has taken prior damage and allows it to stay healthy so it can keep pivoting or using Defog if needed. U-turn allows Decidueye to pivot out of Pokemon like Dhelmise and bring in a teammate that can deal with said threat. Shadow Ball can also be used with Ghostium Z to threaten Pokemon like Weezing, Druddigon, Garbodor, and Vikavolt, but it leaves Decidueye helpless against Pokemon like Braviary and is difficult to justify considering how important Decidueye's other moves are.

Set Details
========

A Timid nature with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment allows Decidueye to hit as hard and be as fast as possible. Colbur Berry allows Decidueye to take at least one Knock Off or Pursuit from users such as Incineroar, Passimian, and Sneasel and pivot out immediately. Grassium Z is the preferred offensive item on this set, since it makes Decidueye a lot more effective at checking Pokemon like Steelix and Slowking, and even has the added bonus of OHKOing Pangoro from full health . It also bypasses Leaf Storm's Special Attack drops. Miracle Seed can be used instead to give a boost to Leaf Storm without recoil, as Miracle Seed-boosted Leaf Storm puts Assault Vest Slowking in range of U-turn, putting it in an even tougher position. It also threatens to OHKO Piloswine, Regirock, Vaporeon, and Blastoise, OHKO Pangoro after U-turn, and 2HKO Steelix. Overgrow is the preferred ability so Leaf Storm can be boosted in a critical moment.

Usage Tips
========

Decidueye should aim to clear entry hazards as soon as it can and avoid Toxic Spikes at all costs. It should aim to come in against Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon, bulky Water-types like Vaporeon and Blastoise, or Pokemon that are of no immediate threat to it like Heliolisk. However, be cautious if Rhydon goes for Stone Edge instead of Stealth Rock expecting Decidueye to come in and clear Stealth Rock. Decidueye's Z-Move should be saved to heavily dent certain foes such as Steelix, Slowking, and Pangoro. After it has forced out a Stealth Rock setter, Decidueye can recover with Roost, clear hazards with Defog, or use U-turn to pivot out of battle against a bad matchup such as against Magmortar, Weezing, and Togedemaru. Because this set does not use Long Reach, be cautious of using U-turn against Pokemon like Rocky Helmet Weezing.

Team Options
========

Decidueye fits best on teams that need an answer to Stealth Rock setters while also removing entry hazards. Pokemon like Magmortar, Delphox, and Sneasel appreciate Decidueye's ability to provide Defog support, beat Stealth Rock setters, and bring them in safely with U-turn. In return, these Pokemon can beat other Grass-types and, in Magmortar and Delphox's case, Steel-types that resist Decidueye's Leaf Storm. Garbodor is also a good partner for Decidueye because it can clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye. In return, Decidueye can beat bulky Ground-types. Water-types such as Slowking and Vaporeon also beat Fire-type Pokemon for Decidueye. Flying-types such as Braviary, Vivillon, and Sigilyph can help Decidueye beat other Grass-types. In return, Decidueye can beat Rhydon and Steelix for these Pokemon. Other pivots such as Rotom, Vikavolt, and Choice Scarf Passimian can form a pivoting core with Decidueye. Passimian is especially noteworthy, since it can also beat Dark-types for Decidueye. Rotom and Vikavolt, meanwhile, can help deal with Flying-types for Decidueye. Wallbreakers such as Swords Dance Incineroar, Alolan Exeggutor, Comfey, and Pangoro appreciate Decidueye's U-turn, which allows them to enter the battle safely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Decidueye can run a physically offensive set with Swords Dance / Spirit Shackle / Leaf Blade / Shadow Sneak or Sucker Punch, a Jolly nature with maximum Attack and Speed investment, and a Z-Crystal like Grassium Z or Decidium Z to become a dangerous sweeper that can deal with faster threats thanks to its access to priority moves like Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch. However, this set is reliant on boosts and a Z-Crystal to beat its checks, many Pokemon like Garbodor, Golbat, and Choice Scarf Passimian are not thwarted by Decidueye's priority moves, and there are more threatening Z-Move sweepers in the tier such as Swords Dance Incineroar. Nasty Plot can boost Decidueye's Special Attack and turn it into a potentially fearsome wallbreaker, but this set lacks coverage outside of its STAB moves and cannot reliably beat its checks like Incineroar and Braviary.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-resistant Pokemon**: Except for U-turn, Decidueye only runs Grass-type coverage, so it is usually handled by Pokemon like Incineroar, Magmortar, Dhelmise, and Alolan Exeggutor. These Pokemon can all run super effective coverage against Decidueye and proceed to revenge kill it.

**Flying-type Pokemon**: Flying-types such as Braviary, Xatu, Sigilyph, and Golbat take any of Decidueye's Grass-type moves and retaliate with their own STAB moves. Vivillon can use Decidueye as setup fodder, since it takes very little damage from Grass Knot or Leaf Storm.

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Dark-types such as Sneasel, Pangoro, and Bulk Up Scrafty threaten out Decidueye with their STAB moves. Incineroar also resists Decidueye's Grass-type moves, and Sneasel easily Pursuit traps it after its Colbur Berry has been consumed. Scrafty can also potentially use Decidueye as setup fodder. However, Decidueye's Colbur Berry allows it to stomach one Dark-type move, and from there, it can pivot out of the match with U-turn.

**Faster Threats**: Decidueye is faster than most bulky walls like Rhydon and Vaporeon, but it is still outsped and revenge killed by Pokemon like Braviary, Rotom, and Delphox.

  • Decidueye is a reliable pivot that can also provide Defog support for a team.
  • Some of the perks it has over other Defoggers is that it can offensively check common Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand, it can defensively check Pokemon like Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Passimian, it is not weak to Stealth Rock, and it can provide a slow U-turn to bring another teammate in safely.

  • Decidueye's low Speed means it is often outpaced by prominent threats such as Mega Glalie, Golbat, and Rotom. already mentioned Mega Glalie in the point right above, remove one of the two mentions imo to avoid repetition
  • Because Decidueye usually only runs Grass-type coverage, it is easily defensively checked by Pokemon such as Vileplume, Druddigon, and Dhelmise.
  • It is also very vulnerable to residual damage from status conditions and entry hazards. I mean it has Roost; I wouldn't call it "very vulnerable" per se.
  • As a pivot that provides entry hazard control, Decidueye faces fierce competition from Xatu and Rotom, which arguably have stronger defensive utility with Magic Bounce, Will-O-Wisp, and Levitate, respectively. awkward wording, although I think what you just want to say here is that they provide more from a utility standpoint (they both can pivot as well, so it isn't even like Decidueye has that over them)

evs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 172 SpD I would prefer the spread to be 248 HP / 100 Def / 160 SpD with a Calm nature; the Defense lets you always take two Knock Offs from Passimian (doesn't need Colbur Berry).

Moves
========

  • Defog is a fantastic support move that clears the battlefield of entry hazards. say something here about why Decidueye is a good Defogger; otherwise, this point just say stuff I could read in the move's in-game description
  • Energy Ball is the STAB move of choice, as it threatens Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand without the Special Attack drops that come with Leaf Storm.
  • Roost keeps Decidueye healthy throughout the match so it can continue to pivot. maybe list a couple things Decidueye pivots into frequently
  • U-turn lets Decidueye exit the battle from unideal matchups such as against Incineroar, Vileplume, or Magmortar.
  • Toxic could be run to threaten bulky Pokemon that resist Energy Ball such as Incineroar, but it does nothing to Pokemon like Vileplume, Golbat, and Steelix. nah, I don't see what you would reasonable drop for Toxic
Set Details
========

  • With the given spread and a Colbur Berry, Decidueye has decent mixed bulk and is only 2HKO'd by Knock Off from Sneasel and Incineroar, allowing it to pivot out of the battle afterwards. read what I commented in the set.
  • Long Reach allows Decidueye to U-turn without being punished by Vileplume's Effect Spore or Ferroseed's Iron Barbs.
  • This set could also run 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Speed, a Jolly Nature, and a moveset of Spirit Shackle / Toxic / Roost / U-turn can cripple defensive switch ins like Incineroar, Magmortar, and Alolan Exeggutor. move this to OO
Usage Tips

  • Decidueye should aim to clear entry hazards as soon as possible, but make sure that Toxic Spikes are cleared first, as being afflicted with Toxic damage detriments its solid bulk.
  • In order to get Decidueye into battle, it would be advised to bring it in against a Pokemon it is not immediately threatened by such a Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Passimian locked into Close Combat.

Incineroar can also form a U-turn core with Decidueye and check Ice- and Grass-types for Decidueye while Decidueye can help beat Water-types for Incineroar.
  • Poison-types like Vileplume and Garbodor can help clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye. Garbodor also appreciates Deciduey's ability to beat Stealth Rock setters. note that it's grounded-Poison-types that do this
  • Decidueye can also form Volt-turn cores with Pokemon like Passimian, Heliolisk, and Rotom. Passimian can also help Decidueye beat Dark-type Pokemon like Sneasel while Rotom can help beat Ghost-types like Dhelmise. In return, it can beat Ground-types for Rotom and Heliolisk, letting them use Volt Switch more often.
  • Pokemon like Rhydon, Togedemaru, and Incineroar appreciate Decidueye's immunity to Fighting-type moves. you mentioned Incineroar earlier, go with something like Sneasel here imo
  • Bulky Water-types like Slowking, Vaporeon, and Blastoise can help keep Fire-types at bay. Vaporeon can also use Heal Bell to heal Decidueye of status conditions.

Moves
========

  • Defog can help remove Stealth Rock and Spikes for its team. like I said in the previous section, tell me why Decidueye is a good Defogger
  • Leaf Storm is Decidueye's most powerful STAB move, as it can dent a considerable amount of Pokemon that don't resist it.
  • Roost heals Decidueye if it has taken prior damage and allows it to stay healthy so that it can keep pivoting or using Defog if needed.
  • U-turn is how Decidueye becomes a pivot, allowing it to switch out of Pokemon like Dhelmise and brining in a teammate that can deal with said threat.
  • Shadow Ball can also be used to threaten Pokemon like Dhelmise, Xatu, and Rotom, but leaves it helpless against Pokemon like Heliolisk and Braviary. I mean, Heliolisk doesn't take Leaf Storm well at all and doesn't threaten you back anyway unless it has Dark Pulse.
Set Details
========

  • A Timid Nature with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment allow Decidueye to hit as hard and be as fast as possible.
  • Grassium Z turns Leaf Storm into a powerful Bloom Doom which can bypass Leaf Storm's accuracy issues, as well as not drop its Special Attack.
  • Overgrow is the preferred ability of this set so that Leaf Storm can be boosted in a critical moment.
Usage Tips
========

  • Much like the defensive set, don't cross-reference between sets Decidueye should aim to clear hazards as soon as it can and should avoid Toxic Spikes at all costs.
  • Decidueye should aim to come in against Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon or against Pokemon that are of no immediate threat to it like Heliolisk. Again, be cautious if Rhydon goes for Stone Edge instead of Stealth Rock expecting Decidueye to come in and clear Stealth Rock.
  • could also note how it can switch into bulky Water-types as well as Heliolisk to clear entry hazards
  • After it has forced out a Stealth Rock setter, it can recover with Roost, clear hazards with Defog, or use U-turn to pivot out of battle against a bad matchup such as Magmortar, Weezing, and Togedemaru. Because this set does not use Long Reach, be cautious against using U-turn against Pokemon like Vileplume and Rocky Helmet Weezing.
  • Use Bloom Doom to severely dent bulky Water- and Ground-type Pokemon like Slowking, Palossand, and Blastoise. Because Bloom Doom doesn't lower Decidueye's offenses, it can use Leaf Storm afterwards to dent any Pokemon that doesn't resist Grass-type moves.
  • Keep Decidueye as healthy as possible because poison from Toxic Spikes can detriment its solid bulk. eh, this doesn't really say much
Team Options
========

  • Decidueye fits best on teams that need an answer to Stealth Rock setters while also removing hazards.
  • Pokemon like Magmortar, Delphox, and Sneasel appreciate Decidueye's Defog, slow U-turn, and ability to beat Stealth Rock setters. In return, these Pokemon can beat other Grass-types and in Magomortar and Delphox's case, Steel-types that resist Decidueye's mono-coverage. I wouldn't exactly call this set's U-turn "slow"; just state imo that they appreciate being brought in safely
  • Garbodor is also a good partner for Decidueye because it can clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye. In return, Decidueye can beat bulky Ground-types for Garbodor.
  • Water types such as Slowking and Vaporeon also help Decidueye beat Fire-type Pokemon for Decidueye.
  • Flying-types such as Braviary, Vivillon, and Sigilyph can also help Decidueye beat other Grass-types. In return, Decidueye can beat Rhydon for these Pokemon. Steelix can get a mention here too; Sigilyph doesn't really struggle with it, but Braviary can somewhat, and Vivillon does if not carrying Energy Ball
  • Other pivots such as Rotom, Vikavolt, and Choice Scarf Passimian can form a pivot core with Decidueye. Passimian is noteworthy since it can also beat Dark-types for Decidueye. Rotom and Vikavolt, meanwhile, can help deal with Flying-types for Decidueye.
  • Wallbreakers such as Swords Dance Incineroar, Alolan Exeggutor, Comfey, and Pangoro appreciate Decidueye's slow U-turn, which allows them to enter the battle safely. again, not really a slow U-turn
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Decidueye can run a physically offensive set with Swords Dance / Spirit Shackle / Leaf Blade / Shadow Sneak or Low Sweep, a Jolly Nature with maximum Attack and Speed investment, and a Z-Crystal like Grassium Z, Decidium Z, or Fightinium Z to become a dangerous sweeper that can deal with faster threats thanks to its access to priority moves like Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch. However, this set is reliant on a boost and Z-Crystals to beat its checks like Incineroar (which it cannot beat without Fightinium Z), many Pokemon like Garbodor, Golbat, and Choice Scarf Passimian are not thwarted by Decidueye's priority moves, and there are more threatening Z-Move sweepers in the tier such as Swords Dance Incineroar. remove any mentions of Low Sweep and Fightinium Z
  • Nasty Plot can boost Decidueye's Special Attack and turn it into a potentially fearsome wallbreaker, but this set lacks coverage outside of its STAB moves and it cannot reliably beat its checks like Incineroar, Alolan Exeggutor, and Braviary. +2 252 SpA Decidueye Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 8 SpD Exeggutor-Alola: 273-322 (82.4 - 97.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO this murders Alolan Exeggutor lol. this set also very commonly runs Ghostium Z, which further shows that neckboy is not a check
  • Decidueye is fast enough to viably run a Choice Scarf set but it lacks the utility of its standard sets and lacks the power of its Z-Move set. no. this set is bad.
  • Decidueye's high Special Defense makes running a defensive set tempting but most wallbreakers such as Rotom, Vikavolt, and Slowking carry coverage moves to hit Decidueye for super effective damage, making this set much less impressive. there is already a defensive set in this analysis...? lol
Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-Resistant Pokemon**: Because Decidueye only runs Grass-type coverage, it is usually handled by Pokemon like Magmortar, Vileplume, and Golbat. These Pokemon can all run super-effective coverage against Decidueye and proceed to revenge kill it.

**Faster Threats**: Decidueye is faster than most bulky walls like Rhydon and Vaporeon, but it is still outsped and revenge killed by Pokemon like Braviary, Rotom, and Delphox.

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Dark-types such as Incineroar, Sneasel, and Pangoro threaten out Decidueye with thier Dark-type STABs. Incineroar resists its Grass-moves and Sneasel easily Pursuit traps it after its Colbur Berry has been consumed. However, Decidueye's Colbur Berry allows it to stomach one Dark-type move and from there, it can pivot out of the match with U-turn. frankly I'd note Incineroar in the first section; it's one of the best checks and needs more immediate note given to it. you can replace its mention with Bulk Up Scrafty and note how it can potentially use Decidueye as setup fodder.

**Status Conditions**: Decidueye has recovery in Roost but it has no reliable way to deal with status conditions like poison from Toxicc, which detriments its decent bulk. It also takes damage from all forms of entry hazards and especially loathes Toxic Spikes. ehhh, I don't really know if this is worth a section.

this should be the order:

Grass-resistant Pokemon
Flying-types (yes add a section for them)
Dark-types
Faster Threats

Long Reach allows Decidueye to U-turn without being punished by Vileplume's Effect Spore or Ferroseed's Iron Barbs.
Decidueye is unaffected by Effect Spore and Ferroseed is rather irrelevant; replace these with mentions of Rocky Helmet from Garbodor and Xatu.

So is there a reason why Energy Ball is used instead of Giga Drain? I breezed through the calcs and can't seem to find much situations where Energy Ball's power is preferred; Energy Ball still fails to OHKO bulky Rhydon, while Giga Drain handily OHKOes offensive Rhydon and still 2HKOes Palossand. Just about the only relevant calc is that Energy Ball 3HKOes AV Slowking >80% of the time while Giga Drain never does, but Giga Drain heals Decidueye out of Fire Blast 2HKO range so the tradeoff is fine regardless.

Moves
========
  • Leaf Storm with Grassium Z can easily take out and pressure Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Seismitoad, which is why Decidueye excells as a Defogger.
Set Details
========
  • Grassium Z turns Leaf Storm into a powerful Bloom Doom which can bypass Leaf Storm's accuracy issues, as well as not drop its Special Attack.
Leaf Storm doesn't need Grassium Z to demolish the Stealth Rockers you've mentioned. Honestly I am skeptical on Grassium Z's worth on Decidueye since there seems to be very few slower targets that Decidueye would like to use Bloom Doom against (Steelix, AV Slowking, and Pangoro are about all that come to mind); if anything Decidueye would prefer to nail slower opponents like Weezing, Druddigon, Garbodor, Vikavolt, etc. with Ghostium Z, not that this set really has the room for it (also faces competition from Ghostium Rotom). Grassium Z seems too specific AND too costly for me to personally warrant it over more universally impactful items, like Colbur Berry, Leftovers, or even perhaps Miracle Seed; this may need further testing.

Usage Tips

  • Because this set does not use Long Reach, be cautious against using U-turn against Pokemon like Vileplume and Rocky Helmet Weezing.
Fix this bit too.

  • The defensive set could also run 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Speed, a Jolly Nature, and a moveset of Spirit Shackle / Toxic / Roost / U-turn can cripple defensive switch ins like Incineroar, Magmortar, and Alolan Exeggutor in exchange for being able to pressure and Stealth Rock setters like Steelix and Seismitoad.
I'm not sure what a set like this is supposed to accomplish outside of pure baiting, since it doesn't even pressure Stealth Rockers like you so claim (especially Steelix of all things) once it loses its surprise factor, not to mention its minimal presence against any mon immune to Toxic. Dhelmise is likely a better user of whatever this set is doing, and Golbat is a better general Toxic spreader with 100% accurate Toxic as well as Poison Fang.

I updated the analysis with most of your suggestions. I'll keep Grassium Z for now since it pressures AV Slowking and Pangoro, unless another QC Member objects to it.

Maybe it was how I worded it, but I never said that the OO pivot set pressured Rockers. It trades that ability so that it can cripple other defensive switch ins like Dhelmise or Alolan Exeggutor. You are right, though. Dhelmise is much better at trapping than Decidueye is, so that's why I just axed the set from the OO.

JustoonSmitts Update:

Offensive Defog has 2 preferable item choices from what I can see. The first is Colbur Berry since surviving Knocks and Pursuits is always nice, and the second is Miracle Seed.

252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Piloswine: 428-506 (105.9 - 125.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blastoise: 408-480 (112.7 - 132.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm vs. 212 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Slowking: 264-312 (68.7 - 81.2%)
252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm over 2 turns vs. 212 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Slowking: 396-468 (103.1 - 121.8%) -- guaranteed KO in 2 turns (Miracle Seed Leaf Storm into U-turn also does 99% min)
252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Vaporeon: 440-522 (94.8 - 112.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 148 SpD Regirock: 368-434 (101 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
There's really not much you'd want to use Grassium Z on; even targets like Steelix and Pangoro are handled decently enough.
252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm over 2 turns vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Steelix: 325-384 (91.8 - 108.4%) -- 50% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Miracle Seed Decidueye Leaf Storm vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Pangoro: 282-333 (84.9 - 100.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO (after U-turn, Pangoro is always in range)
If you're going to run Z on offensive Decidueye, Ghostium Z is honestly a better choice since most mons slower than Decidueye that it would want to nuke resist Grass anyway. That said, a set of Shadow Ball / Leaf Storm / U-turn / Roost @ Ghostium Z is more of a OO sort of set.

QC 2/3 if you implement this. JustoonSmitts

Shadow Ball can also be used with Ghostium Z to threaten Pokemon like Weezing, Druddigon, Garbodor, and Vikavolt, but it leaves it helpless against Pokemon like Braviary.
If you insist on leaving the Shadow Ball mention in Moves, also point out how it has difficulty fitting onto the set due to how important its current attacks are.

Miricale Miracle Seed can be used instead to give a boost to Leaf Storm without recoil, as it can 2HKO Assault Vest Slowking
Yeah at least give more than just one example lol (btw JustoonSmitts you can specify that Miracle Seed-boosted Leaf Storm also puts Assault Vest Slowking in range of U-turn, putting it in an even tougher position). Any of the OHKOes in my calcs can be used as justification.

I don't see Miracle Seed-boosted Leaf Storm's OHKOing potential against Piloswine, Regirock, Blastoise, etc. being mentioned; Slowking is still the only target of Miracle Seed listed in Set Details.

You can also mention the calcs vs Steelix & Pangoro for good measure.

Oh yeah, specify why defensive Decidueye is opting for a SpD spread (aka name the threats that SpD Decidueye responds to); newer readers may look at your current spread's reasoning and wonder why you don't just invest in max Def instead.

[OVERVIEW]

Decidueye is a reliable pivot that can also provide Defog support for a team. Some of the perks it has over other Defoggers is that it can offensively check common Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand, it can defensively check Pokemon like Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Passimian, it is not weak to Stealth Rock, and it can provide a slow U-turn to bring another teammate in safely. While these traits are appealing, Decidueye's defensive typing and low Defense stat leave it plagued by common NU Pokemon such as Incineroar, Braviary, Garbodor, Mega Glalie, and Sneasel, the latter especially can Pursuit trap it. Decidueye's low Speed means it is often outpaced by prominent threats such as Golbat and Rotom. Because Decidueye usually only runs Grass-type coverage, it is easily defensively checked by Pokemon such as Vileplume, Druddigon, and Dhelmise. It is also very vulnerable to residual damage from status conditions and entry hazards. As a utility Pokemon Decidueye faces fierce competition from Xatu and Rotom, which arguably have stronger defensive utility with Magic Bounce, Will-O-Wisp, and Levitate, respectively. Decidueye also faces competition from Dhelmise, which boasts a much greater offensive presence and a superior matchup against bulkier Stealth Rock users like Steelix and Druddigon.

[SET]
name: Defensive Defog
move 1: Defog
move 2: Giga Drain (Change this to Grass Knot)
move 3: Roost
move 4: U-turn
item: Colbur Berry
ability: Long Reach
nature: Calm

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Decidueye is a good user of Defog because it can pressure hazard setters such as Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand with Giga Drain (Replace all Giga Drain mentions with Grass Knot where applicable, mention that Grass Knot allows you to take on Steelix), which also gives it an extra form of recovery and can potentially get it out of KO range from Slowking's Fire Blast. Roost keeps Decidueye healthy throughout the match so it can continue to pivot in against Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Medicham. U-turn lets Decidueye exit the battle from bad matchups such as against Incineroar, Vileplume, or Magmortar.

Set Details
========

With the given spread and a Colbur Berry, Decidueye can take two Knock Offs from Passimian and is able to pivot in and out of special attackers such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Comfey. It can also survive Pursuit from Sneasel and more or less get out of the battle with U-turn. Long Reach allows Decidueye to U-turn without being punished by Xatu or Gabodor's Rocky Helmet. Leftovers is also a viable item on this set to give Decidueye more passive recovery.

Usage Tips
========

Decidueye should aim to clear entry hazards as soon as possible, but make sure that Toxic Spikes are cleared first, as being afflicted with Toxic damage detriments its solid bulk. In order to get Decidueye into battle, it would be advised to bring it in against a Pokemon it is not immediately threatened by such a Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Passimian locked into Close Combat. It can also come in against common Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand as they are setting up Stealth Rock. This play can be risky because Rhydon, Palossand, and Steelix can threaten Decidueye with heavy damage. Since Decidueye can usually force these Pokemon out of the battle it can be a good idea to use Roost if it has taken prior damage or it can use U-turn to escape from Grass-resistant Pokemon like Incineroar, Sceptile, or Togedemaru.

Team Options
========

Pokemon like Incineroar, Mega Glalie, and Braviary appreciate Decidueye's ability to clear entry hazards and beat Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Seismitoad. Incineroar can also form a U-turn core with Decidueye and check Ice- and Grass-types for Decidueye while Decidueye can help beat Water-types for Incineroar. Grounded Poison-types like Vileplume and Garbodor can help clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye. Garbodor also appreciates Deciduey's ability to beat Stealth Rock setters. Decidueye can also form Volt-turn cores with Pokemon like Passimian, Heliolisk, and Rotom. Passimian can also help Decidueye beat Dark-type Pokemon like Sneasel while Rotom can help beat Ghost-types like Dhelmise. In return, it can beat Ground-types for Rotom and Heliolisk, letting them use Volt Switch more often.

[SET]

evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Leaf Storm can easily pressure Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Seismitoad, which is why Decidueye makes a good offensive Defogger. Roost heals Decidueye if it has taken prior damage and allows it to stay healthy so that it can keep pivoting or using Defog if needed. U-turn is how Decidueye becomes a pivot, allowing it to switch out of Pokemon like Dhelmise and brining in a teammate that can deal with said threat. Shadow Ball can also be used with Ghostium Z to threaten Pokemon like Weezing, Druddigon, Garbodor, and Vikavolt, but it leaves it helpless against Pokemon like Braviary and it is difficult to justify considering how important Decidueye's other moves are.

Set Details
========

A Timid Nature with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment allow Decidueye to hit as hard and be as fast as possible. Colbur Berry allows Decidueye to take at least one Knock Off or Pursuit from users such as Incineroar, Passimian, and Sneasel and pivot out immediately. Miracle Seed can be used instead to give a boost to Leaf Storm without recoil. Miracle Seed-boosted Leaf Storm also puts Assault Vest Slowking in range of U-turn, putting it in an even tougher position. It also threatens to OHKO Piloswine, Regirock, Vaporeon, and Blastoise, OHKO Pangoro after U-turn, and 2HKO Steelix. Overgrow is the preferred ability of this set so that Leaf Storm can be boosted in a critical moment. (Feel free to leave Miracle Seed here, but mention Grassium-Z first and emphasise that it's the superior option.)

Usage Tips
========

Decidueye should aim to clear hazards as soon as it can and should avoid Toxic Spikes at all costs. It should aim to come in against Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon, bulky Water types like Vaporeon and Blastoise, or Pokemon that are of no immediate threat to it like Heliolisk. Again, be cautious if Rhydon goes for Stone Edge instead of Stealth Rock expecting Decidueye to come in and clear Stealth Rock. After it has forced out a Stealth Rock setter, it can recover with Roost, clear hazards with Defog, or use U-turn to pivot out of battle against a bad matchup such as Magmortar, Weezing, and Togedemaru. Because this set does not use Long Reach, be cautious against using U-turn against Pokemon like Rocky Helmet Weezing.

Team Options
========

Decidueye fits best on teams that need an answer to Stealth Rock setters while also removing hazards. Pokemon like Magmortar, Delphox, and Sneasel appreciate Decidueye's Defog, ability to beat Stealth Rock setters, and being safely brought in by U-turn. In return, these Pokemon can beat other Grass-types and in Magomortar and Delphox's case, Steel-types that resist Decidueye's mono-coverage. Garbodor is also a good partner for Decidueye because it can clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye. In return, Decidueye can beat bulky Ground-types for Garbodor. Water types such as Slowking and Vaporeon also help Decidueye beat Fire-type Pokemon for Decidueye. Flying-types such as Braviary, Vivillon, and Sigilyph can also help Decidueye beat other Grass-types. In return, Decidueye can beat Rhydon and Steelix for these Pokemon. Other pivots such as Rotom, Vikavolt, and Choice Scarf Passimian can form a pivot core with Decidueye. Passimian is noteworthy since it can also beat Dark-types for Decidueye. Rotom and Vikavolt, meanwhile, can help deal with Flying-types for Decidueye. Wallbreakers such as Swords Dance Incineroar, Alolan Exeggutor, Comfey, and Pangoro appreciate Decidueye's U-turn, which allows them to enter the battle safely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

However, this set is reliant on a boost and Z-Crystals to beat its checks, many Pokemon like Garbodor, Golbat, and Choice Scarf Passimian are not thwarted by Decidueye's priority moves, and there are more threatening Z-Move sweepers in the tier such as Swords Dance Incineroar. Nasty Plot can boost Decidueye's Special Attack and turn it into a potentially fearsome wallbreaker, but this set lacks coverage outside of its STAB moves and it cannot reliably beat its checks like Incineroar and Braviary.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-Resistant Pokemon**: Because Decidueye only runs Grass-type coverage, it is usually handled by Pokemon like Incineroar, Magmortar, Vileplume, and Alolan Exeggutor. These Pokemon can all run super-effective coverage against Decidueye and proceed to revenge kill it.

**Flying-type Pokemon**: Flying-types such as Braviary, Xatu, Sigilyph, and Golbat take any of Decidueye's Grass-type moves and retaliate with their own STAB moves. Vivillon can use Decidueye as set up fodder since it takes very little damage from Giga Drain or Leaf Storm.

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Dark-types such as Sneasel, Pangoro, and Bulk Up Scrafty threaten out Decidueye with their Dark-type STABs. Incineroar resists its Grass-moves and Sneasel easily Pursuit traps it after its Colbur Berry has been consumed. Scrafty can also potentially use Decidueye as set up fodder. However, Decidueye's Colbur Berry allows it to stomach one Dark-type move and from there, it can pivot out of the match with U-turn.

**Faster Threats**: Decidueye is faster than most bulky walls like Rhydon and Vaporeon, but it is still outsped and revenge killed by Pokemon like Braviary, Rotom, and Delphox.

Moves
========

U-turn lets Decidueye exit the battle from bad matchups such as against Incineroar, Vileplume, and Magmortar. Giga Drain can be used instead to give Decidueye an extra form of recovery and can potentially get it out of KO range from Slowking's Fire Blast.

Set Details
========

16 EVs in Speed allow Decidieye to outspeed maximum Speed Rhydon. Long Reach allows Decidueye to U-turn without being punished by Xatu and Gabodor's Rocky Helmet. Leftovers is also a viable item on this set to give Decidueye more passive recovery.

Usage Tips
========

Decidueye should aim to clear entry hazards as soon as possible, but make sure that Toxic Spikes are cleared first, as being afflicted with Toxic damage detriments its solid bulk. In order to get Decidueye into battle, it is advised to bring it in against a Pokemon it is not immediately threatened by such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Passimian locked into Close Combat. It can also come in against common Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon, Seismitoad, and Palossand as they are setting up Stealth Rock.

========

Pokemon like Incineroar, Mega Glalie, and Braviary appreciate Decidueye's ability to clear entry hazards and beat Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Seismitoad. Incineroar can also form a U-turn core with Decidueye and check Ice- and Grass-types for Decidueye, while it can help beat Water-types for Incineroar. Grounded Poison-types like Vileplume and Garbodor can help clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Decidueye should aim to clear entry hazards as soon as it can and avoid Toxic Spikes at all costs. It should aim to come in against Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon, bulky Water types like Vaporeon and Blastoise, or Pokemon that are of no immediate threat to it like Heliolisk. Be cautious if Rhydon goes for Stone Edge instead of Stealth Rock expecting Decidueye to come in and clear Stealth Rock.

========

Decidueye fits best on teams that need an answer to Stealth Rock setters while also removing entry hazards. Pokemon like Magmortar, Delphox, and Sneasel appreciate Decidueye's Defog, its ability to beat Stealth Rock setters, and being safely brought in by U-turn. In return, these Pokemon can beat other Grass-types and, in Magomortar and Delphox's case, Steel-types that resist Decidueye's Leaf Storm. Garbodor is also a good partner for Decidueye because it can clear Toxic Spikes for Decidueye. In return, Decidueye can beat bulky Ground-types for Garbodor. Water-types such as Slowking and Vaporeon also help Decidueye beat Fire-type Pokemon for Decidueye. Flying-types such as Braviary, Vivillon, and Sigilyph can help Decidueye beat other Grass-types. In return, Decidueye can beat Rhydon and Steelix for these Pokemon. Other pivots such as Rotom, Vikavolt, and Choice Scarf Passimian can form a pivot core with Decidueye.

=============

===================

**Grass-resistant Pokemon**: Except for U-turn, Decidueye only runs Grass-type coverage, so it is usually handled by Pokemon like Incineroar, Magmortar, Vileplume, and Alolan Exeggutor.

Vivillon can use Decidueye as setup fodder, since it takes very little damage from Giga Drain or Leaf Storm.

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Dark-types such as Sneasel, Pangoro, and Bulk Up Scrafty threaten out Decidueye with their Dark-type STAB moves. Incineroar resists its Grass-type moves, and Sneasel easily Pursuit traps it after its Colbur Berry has been consumed.

Other Options
=============

===================
