Pending consistent timer format & clearer timer mechanics

The log timer alerts are in total seconds, while the player's timer is in m:ss. This difference adds unnecessary cognitive energy to assess, such as comparing one's timer to the log's report of the opponent's timer.
Also, it would be nice to have both players' timers constantly visible.
Also, is there a breakdown of exactly how the timer works? Sometimes it seems very mysterious when the timer is or isn't ticking down.
