[COMPLETED] Metagross

Why are we comparing it to Rock Slide anyway, when Zen Headbutt already OHKOes the things you want after SR and actually covers more stuff, such as Rotom-W, Mega Venusaur, and Mega Blastoise?
Zen Headbutt doesn't OHKO Gyarados, even with Stealth Rock, and it can Mega evolve to be immune to it. This also isn't considering bulky variants. Rock Slide is safer against it. Talonflame is not OHKOed by it either without Stealth Rock in play, but it's safe to assume that Stealth Rock is not going to be in play if you're using Talonflame (it's always paired with spinner/defog support). Therefore it can Flare Blitz you right there. Charizard-Y is in a similar position, living Zen Headbutt and destroying you with its STAB.

Anyhow, I don't want to argue about this any longer so whatever you and other QC members decides, it's fine with me. :)

I made all of alexwolf's changes. Zen Headbutted is generally better than Rock Slide imo because while Rock Slide hits certain targets harder than Zen Headbutt, it is pretty much useless in nearly every other situation due to its terrible Base Power, whereas Zen Headbutt still hits Mega Blastoise, Mega Venusaur, and most Fighting-types for decent damage.

Slash Zen Headbutt after Bullet Punch and have Meteor Mash as the only option in the first slot as this appears to be what the majority wants. Somalia agreed that slashing Zen Headbutt after Bullet Punch is fine and that Bullet Punch is not mandatory at all.

0- SpA Metagross Grass Knot vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 180-212 (42.2 - 49.7%)

0- SpA Metagross Grass Knot vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hippowdon: 194-230 (46.1 - 54.7%)

Listen, I shouldn't need to correct basic errors during an amcheck. Grass knot eliminates neither of these pokemon, especially if they run more special defense. And why would either Pursuit or Grass Knot replace Earthquake, or even be automatically assumed to be doing so? Earthquake is the second slot and it's not slashed, so it's clearly more important then Hammer Arm or Bullet Punch. Even if you take Bullet Punch off the table, you yourself say that Hammer Arm has redundant coverage. If it's really more important than Earthquake, then switch them.

A number of other small corrections I felt the need to make as well.

[Pros]

<ul>
<li>Metagross has an amazing defensive typing, giving it 9 resistances and 1 immunity.</li>
<li>Its Hhigh Attack and Defense, gives it a large amount of power and utility.</li>
<li>Its Steel-typing makes it a solid check to the newly released Fairy-type.</li>
<li>By using thean Assualt Vest, Metagross can increase its mediocre Special Defense to great levels.</li>
<li>The recent weather nerf means that Metagross no longer needs to fear powerful rain boosted Hydro Pumps.</li>
</ul>

[Cons]

<ul>
<li>Metagross faces competition with Scizor.</li>
<li>Metagross gained weaknesses to Dark- and Ghost-types, making it unable to check threats that it could last generation, like Tyranitar and Gengar.</li>
<li>Still very slow by the metagame's standards</li>
<li>Ineffective as an offensive sweeper due to its limited coverage, making it only viable in a defensive role</li>
</ul>

[Set Recommendations]

<p> Metagross @ Assualt Vest <br />
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SDef <br />
Adamant Nature <br />
- Meteor Mash<br />
- Earthquake <br />
- Bullet Punch / Zen Headbutt<br />
- Hammer Arm / Zen Headbutt</p>

<p>Using theWith an Assault Vest, Metagross has the ability to function as a decent offensive pivot. Meteor Mash is the main STAB move, as it hits Fairy-types for super effective damage, has decent Base Power, and can boost Metagross's Attack Stat in a pinchon occasion.
Earthquake serves the purpose of eliminatinges Steel- and Fire-types, most notability Aegislash and Mega-Charizard X. Bullet Punch is primarily used for utility, revenge killing weakened threats, and Fairy-type Pokemon. Despite gettiving redundant coverage, Hammer Arm is used to hit Air Balloon Excadrill, Ferrothorn, Greninja, and Mega-Gyarados for super effective damage. Zen Headbutt is an acceptable alternative fover either these moves, as it hits Fighting-types for super effective damage, and is Metagross's most effective move against Mega-Charizard Y, Talonflame, Mega-Venusaur, Gyarados, Rotom-W, and Mega-Blastoise, who would otherwise wall Metagross with little to no trouble.</p>

<p>Other move options include Pursuit and Grass Knot. Pursuit serves that purpose of eliminatinges fleeing Psychic-type Pokemon, while Grass Knot eliminatesputs a dent in Hippowdon and Gastrodon. However, Metagross's weakness to Ghost-type attacks makes it an ineffective Pursuit trapper, while Grass Knot leaves Metagross walled by either Aegislash or Air Balloon Excadrill, who couldan then set up a free Swords Dance as Metagross switches out.</p>

<p>Even with the assistance of Earthquake and Hammer Arm, Metagross still has a large amount of trouble with Steel-types. Because of this, Magnezone makes an excellent partner, as it can trap Steel-types with its Magnet Pull ability and deal a massive amount of damage to them with Thunderbolt or Hidden Power Fire. Sticky Web support from Galvantula and Smeargle is also useful, as it allows Metagross to outspeed a larger portion of the metagame. Azumarill is also a very good partner, as it can eliminate Fire and Ground-types with Aqua Jet, while also functioning as a check to Dark-types.</p>

[Checks and Counters]

<p>Skarmory and Forretress are Metagross's greatest counters, as they take little damage from all of Metagross's attacks due to their amazing defenses and typings and can set up multiple layers of Spikehazards once Metagross switches out. Slowbro and Slowking make excellent counters, as both are not 2HKOed by Earthquake and can cripple Metagross with a potential Scald burn. Gya, or grados is able to set up on Meteor Mash variations ofually defeat it with Slack Off and Scald or a Fire-type move. Gyarados is able to set up Hammer Arm Metagross and can defeat Zen Headbutt variations of Metagross by Mega-Evolving. Due to the lack of Ice Punch, Physically Defensive Hippowdon and Gliscor aren't 2HKOed by anything in Metagross's arsenal and can deal major damage with Earthquake, although Gliscor must watch out for the rare Ice Punch. Aegislash can function as a reliable check to Metagross, as it is not OHKOed by Earthquake and can put Metagross in a checkmate position with the combination of Shadow Ball and Shadow Sneak. Life Orb and Mega-Gengar can defeat weakened variations of Metagross with Shadow Ball, but both need to watch out for Bullet Punch. Finally, Rotom-W can de, and can only switch in safely on Hammer Arm or Earthquake, in non-Meteor Mash variations ofga Gengar's case. Finally, Rotom-W can defeat Metagross by virtue of its typing, and its access tocan cripple it with Will-Oo-Wisp allows it to cripple, which takes care of even Zen Headbutt variationMetagross.

A tad late and slightly subjective, but would it be worth mentioning somewhere that, thanks to Clear Body, Metagross is immune to the effects of Sticky Web? Provided I'm understanding the mechanics of the move correctly that is. May be a little thing to add to the pros section, even if it's tiny, if only to further educate people on how the new hazard works.
