Choice Band Seismitoad is an interesting bulky attacker with the unique combination of Water and Ground STAB moves and Grass-type coverage. The EVs let Seismitoad outspeed any Crustle and 2HKO it by clicking Earthquake, while always surviving Counter. Earthquake is a strong STAB attack that KOs Poison- and Electric-types such as Zeraora, Choice Scarf Dracozolt, and Dragalge, as well as Rock-types like Crustle. Liquidation beats Fire-types such as Rotom-Heat, Alolan Marowak, and Volcarona. Power Whip is incredibly useful versus Water-types like Primarina, Choice item Rotom-Wash, Azumarill, and non-Rindo Berry Gastrodon. Poison Jab lets Seismitoad beat Whimsicott and Sap Sipper Azumarill. Alternatively, Low Kick lets it OHKO Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan. Fling is another option for the fourth moveslot. The move allows Seismitoad to wear down and defeat any Milotic lacking Ice Beam, play around Rindo Berry Counter Gastrodon (Fling into Liquidation into Power Whip kills while keeping Counter damage survivable), and defeat certain anti-choice pokemon like Overheat Ninetales and Torment Steelix. Hydro Pump is relevant in a few niche match-ups, such as Choice Band Avalugg, Iron Defense Steelix, and Counter Rhyperior.

While Seismitoad generally performs well against Water-types, it loses to some of them. Pokemon like Cloyster, Dracovish, or Urshifu-R have good bulk, a Grass neutrality, or superior offense, and easily win the match-up. Seismitoad is also incredibly weak versus Grass-types like Rillaboom, Ferrothorn, and Venusaur. It struggles to break bulky pokemon such as Kommo-O, Aegislash, and Dracovish, nor does it appreciate stall pokemon like Galarian Corsola and Chansey. Naturally, it prefers allies that match up nicely against those weaknesses, such as Togekiss, Volcarona, Corviknight, Alolan Marowak, Galarian Darmanitan, and Gengar. In return, it can take on Rock-, Electric, and Fire-types for those teammates.
