Lopunny sets up Stealth Rock thanks to Copycat [Ban Manaphy vs. rozes, Semifinals]

Hi folks. The World Cup of Pokemon is slowly coming to an end with only Europe and US East left in the tournament. As always, this will be the thread where every SM OU WCoP player can post his teams / creative sets that he has used in the tournament and take part in discussions. Use this tool to convert imports to sprites easily.

Looking forward to some creative sets and teams! :toast:

Tapu Koko @ Tapunium Z
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mean Look
- Nature's Madness
- Brave Bird
- Taunt

Smth I used on a rain team to get rid of Chansey / AV Tangro / Amoonguss / Venusaur and all the things that can stop Kingdra. All credits to Zamrock tho :D

RAMBO (Buzzwole) @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 204 HP / 192 Atk / 12 SpD / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch

This thing is good vs. stall teams (without clef) and it's a good switch in vs. Ground-type mons (assuming not Flynium Lando-T and DD Dragonium Zygarde). Sub + Focus Punch are mandatory, the rest is up to preference (for example Leech Life hits Sab harder + recovers HPs and Poison Jab hits Clefable)

Hey, looks like this thread was made for me oo I'll post some set I used in WCop and I'll post the ETT of the teams I used in the end :]

slow dancer (Keldeo) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Hidden Power [Poison]
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump

This Keldeo set is cool af if you already have other Volcarona answers. It's the classic Specsdeo used in ORAS but with HP Poison hitting Fini and killing Bulus with 1 hit. Used in g1 against dukevesper.

Jirachi @ Psychium Z
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 240 HP / 100 SpA / 36 SpD / 132 Spe
Mild Nature
- Psychic
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock

This was the Jirachi used in the team I built for Tricking that allowed him to easily break the stall Zomog brought killing Toxapex with a single hit oo

waiting for godot (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 216 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpA / 16 SpD / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stored Power
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast

This Clef can defeat stall teams on its own. The 16 spatk will guarantee a Kill on Dugtrio with +1 moonblast (in case it's Z or idk). It was used by Bro Kappa in a game (couldn't tell the exact game) and I used it in my last game against Poek.

winter rhapsody (Abomasnow-Mega) @ Abomasite
Ability: Snow Warning
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 104 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 148 Spe
Mild Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Blizzard
- Ice Shard

This is the Mega Abomasnow I used in my game against Sfarialas :o it outspeeds Skarmory in its base form and Slowbro, Sableye, Amoonguss, Chansey and Toxapex in its mega form.

my father's blood (Camerupt-Mega) @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SpA / 128 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Yawn
- Ancient Power

The original camel. Even tho Gondra and Bro fist tried to use it too, this is the first Camel ever used in wcop. It outspeeds Slowbro, Amonguss, Sableye and Toxapex and takes 3hko from Char Y. Yawn is the best move if you don't have to run rocks (useless on a similiar mon). It forces out the mons that are supposed to be the answer to the camel. Rotom-W, Mantine, Latios, Garchomp etc. They have to switch out or they'll sleep, and that's kinda cool since it gives you a freeturn to spam your stabs. Used against trosko :O

So this is the team that I brought vs ABR. We had played recently for the last 32 of OST, and I had brought teams that had stuff like Vest Tang+Suicune paired with Nidoking, Lele+Pheromosa with some defensive backbone. So I knew that our series had established my team-building pattern so I tried to see if exploiting it would work, it ended up being a good decision because he brought Kyurem+Zapdos to outlast me / break Tangrowth+Bulky Water cores. SD Garchomp was my Ground-type of choice this game because of its speed tier (sorta expected Zard-Y from him), Soul Dew Latios ended up working wonders in this game too and showed that it can be very tough to handle for some defensive cores. This team ended up becoming out of place in the meta, kinda, because of rain usage spiking in the following weeks. It also has issues with Ground-types, but it's a fun team that does well due to being able to bluff Scarf on a couple of mons and end up surprising your opponent.

other options considered: Houndoom was something I heavily considered, it actually would've done decently lol, because after an NP it dismantles a lot of cores used nowadays.

After establishing the Ground-weak pattern of mine in the previous game, I was expecting Ground spam from my next opp, Pearl, who proceeded to do just that. Celesteela+Reuniclus in tandem with DD Landorus to set up on the Choice locked grounds was what I was thinking when I built the team. M-Venusaur was also looking like a decent choice because it dealt with stuff that Pearl used from what I saw: Bulu, Ash-Greninja, Koko, etc. My atrocious choking aside, I was glad I got the team choice right. If you plan to ladder using this team, I'd suggest Latios over Garchomp and Mew over Reuniclus because it is better imo for consistent play on the ladder. Aside from that, I think this team is fine really

BHARATH_THEBEST was the builder of, not only the team that I used vs False, but also a lot of teams this WCoP. So I'd like for him to post in this thread too :)

Hopefully my OCN teammates post as well because they were the ones with the really cool ideas. Meanwhile, here are some things I made and/or used in WCOP:

Landorus-Therian @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance
- Explosion

y4/metagame secrets built the team I used to win against Bro Kappa, it's a stupidly offensive team (the lack of hazard removal in conjunction with Mega Pinsir concerned some people in smogtours lobby) which is why this Landorus set works perfectly for it and HO in general. I know this isn't an obscure set but I really wanted to highlight it. It gets up rocks pretty reliably in a lot of cases and you can threaten the opponent with SD and can usually nab a kill or even two depending on the situation. Explosion denies your opponent the chance to Defog and chunks them, while you get huge initiative being able to switch into a threat and place them under a lot of pressure.

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Imprison
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Used this set against Aurious, it didn't get to shine but it still put in some work and helped me win. Leftovers could also be used. The speed is meant to outspeed Adamant Lando-T and other mons like Heatran as a corollary while maintaining reasonable bulk and can come in handy/surprising. Imprison stops opposing Stealth Rock users from being able to lay them up, especially annoying ones like Bronzong and Clefable.

Kyurem-Black @ Electrium Z
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 70 SpA / 188 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Iron Head
- Roost

Brought this in my loss against Toxzn and didn't get to Z-Move or really showcase anything but I'll post it anyway. The set outspeeds Neutral nature base 100's like Charizard and Volcarona and pertinently Adamant Mimikyu and opposing Neutral nature Kyurem-B's. Iron Head with Teravolt OHKO's Mimikyu through Disguise and is just alright coverage in general and hits Clefable/other fairies too which can be nice. Roost is for longevity. Earth Power could be used on this set over Iron Head if Mimikyu doesn't look like a threat. This set works in tandem with Tapu Koko and Electric Terrain and Gigavolt Havoc off of Kyurem-B's Fusion Bolt in terrain has a lot of cool applications, deals a ton of damage and has the surprise factor against opponents expecting Subzero Slammer. I'll post some calcs so you can get an idea of what it can do:

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Magearna in Electric Terrain: 319-376 (105.9 - 124.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna in Electric Terrain: 319-376 (87.8 - 103.5%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey in Electric Terrain: 476-561 (67.7 - 79.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey in Electric Terrain: 266-313 (37.8 - 44.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 116+ Def Scizor-Mega in Electric Terrain: 225-265 (65.5 - 77.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 116+ Def Scizor-Mega in Electric Terrain: 125-148 (36.4 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Tapu Fini: 422-498 (123 - 145.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Looking forward to seeing more creative sets and interesting discussion

intended for use with tspikes / tox support, sub kyub is a pain in the ass for a lot of teams to face, couple it with possibly the most obnoxious coverage for bulkier teams and youve got a pretty strong breaker. was in a draft build for playing ricardo

litios v3, intended to force in dug through stuff like weak pex scalds, tran plumes, or chansey tosses, also works for switching into volc as it tries to weaken stuff before it qds up, letting rs dug remove it with ease. edit: main reason i used this thing because it outspeeds tran and breaks sub with surf, amoong/pex are too passive and just lose their ebutton vs sub tran. mew is another alternative mon that works, i chose lati because it usually still does stuff without a proper item

my teams too btw

i hav some sets that i used and did not use to share here ive never been that big on innovation but sm leaves a lot of room for it so here is some stuff that i really liked that i used or planned to use at one point

Tyranitar (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 Atk / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

ok so i know this looks absolutely retarded but i used this vs reyscarface in world cup on this team that jam made
and i believe p2 used the exact same set on the same team vs one of his opponents too. originally this team featured scarf dugtrio to get rid of nuisances like koko / volcarona / manectric and stuff like that but we both used z eq because it made dealing with bulkier stuff a lot easier. av was put over the original choice band on tyranitar bc it lets u cover volcarona, manectric, heatran and stuff like that much much easier and it sort of lets you get away without running a scarfer. this set was also nice because it was able to smash cm magearna still. the evs i took from the choice band set that was there initially and did not change them so there is probably a much better way to go w this, regardless its just there to basically save yourself from volc. pretty sure this isn't some set u just throw on whatever team but it can definitely work in some instances.

Turn 9

The opposing Manectric used Thunderbolt!
A critical hit! Tyranitar lost 33.7% of its health!

Tyranitar used Pursuit!
The opposing Manectric lost 36.3% of its health!
The sandstorm is raging.

The opposing Manectric is buffeted by the sandstorm!

The opposing Manectric fainted!

Tapu Koko @ Electrium Z
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wild Charge
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Taunt

so this set i used vs mazary in my battle and was able to kill his magearna turn 1 and then win the rest of the game pretty comfortably after that. i got this idea from ben gay when we were talking pre wcop and he was discussing how koko has 115 atk that no one utilizes and he also used this set to great success in smogon tour playoffs where he ko'd alexander's jirachi turn 1 as well. i used this on rain and i really liked the idea of it since it allowed me to bluff the possible z thunder in rain bc that's what you would initially think and instead you can net a quick surprise kill on a fat wall and then win w kingdra or whatever. i used jolly on this because hp ice is only for lando and zygarde anyways it doesnt hit anything else for good damage so i wanted to keep my defenses. i know people have taken to running roost now but this is just what i use.

Kartana @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Swords Dance
- Sacred Sword
- Defog

this set i unfortunately did not end up using as i planned to use it vs reyscarface in my last game. i was set to use it but then i saw the abomination he ran vs kory2600 and had to shelve this for a team that breaks better. regardless this is a really cool set and makes use of what i think is kartana's best quality, that it can come in on ferrothorn for free and fuck up its momentum completely. the set was originally smart strike > swords dance which tdk had suggested but we came to the agreement over time that swords dance is definitely superior since it allows you to become somewhat of a threat since kartana's stab moves are pretty low power if you can't boost. smart strike is only really nice for like pinsir and stuff like that since most tangrowth are av and dont run hp fire as well as +2 all out pummeling crushing them, same w bulu but they power up your leaf blade so it's fine. bro fist used kartana vs ict this wcop but w smart strike > defog and i think it def gave some attention to just how good this mon can be in the current meta. definitely one of my favorite mons and what i consider one of if not the most underrated mons in the meta rn.

Magearna @ Leftovers
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 200 HP / 56 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shift Gear
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam

this set has been seeing some usage as of late since people have realized that magearna can literally run any moves any evs and still be good. ctc originally made this set as a way to keep some of magearnas insane bulk that it usually shows when its running the av set with max hp, while also using leftovers since that's its best form of recovery outside of pain split. he showed me this almost 2 months ago and in the beginning the greatest selling point was that you negate mews burn and then crush most bulky offense teams with ease. the set will still struggle with tangrowth to an extent because of the low special attack investment but that's why the original team had tspike gren. regardless this is a cool set to try out to take advantage of the bulk magearna has. i prefer this a lot to using 0 hp and getting 2hkod by tangrowth eq and stuff like that

Reuniclus @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Thunder/Signal Beam/Shadow Ball
- Recover

This reuniclus set that I made was used by Tricking against Leftiez. It can set up on strong offensive threats like flyniumz/rockiumz lando (no sd) or band zygarde and you also have a sort of advantage in cm war, with the 1+ def you can take on opposing psyshock much easier. The lack of leftovers could be annoying but the grassy terrain recovery helps you for a bit.

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Hypnosis
- Grudge

This one was used by Alexander in his game against Poek. Grudge is the surprise tech, the opposing mon can potentially lose an important move used to defeat ninetales. For example if zardy uses its fire stab to eliminate tales, now your magearna can set up on it after that.

Mew @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Gunk Shot
- Stone Edge
- Low Kick

Tricking used a team that I've built containing this funny mew set in his game with Axel. Mew now is mostly seen as a defensive glue mon in the metagame, rarely as a sweeper with its z stone. This set is based on this tendency so you can take a surprise kill against tapu koko for example. But it's also a decent rkiller in general and it can take some hit because it's not that fragile even uninvested

Tapu Koko @ Iapapa Berry
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 80 HP / 176 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

Tornadus-Therian @ Flyinium Z

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 232 HP / 24 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 40 HP / 216 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Wish
- Protect

Dugtrio @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 244 Atk / 12 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Pursuit
- Aerial Ace

This is the team that I used against Malekith. Watching his replays I thought that alomomola+scarftrio could really help against the stuff he usually brings.
Tapu koko+tornadus is one of my favourite core and it works really well here, stallbreaking power+momentum are really nice.
Then I really needed something to deal with bulu and celesteela, something that Spain used a lot, so heatran was the perfect choice and it did a great job in my game helped by the wishpass recovery.
Tapu fini was my last choice for this team, a decent bbond greninja check and a less decent defogger(I really prefer the cm variant lol) but it was the only one fitting the team at that point.

I also want to show you teams that I would have probably brought in my future world cup games but I couldn't because we were eliminated. These teams were made by my friend LBP2 and I really want to thank him for helping me testing my stuff.

Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- High Jump Kick
- Power-Up Punch
- Encore

The idea is pup into mew/clef's soft(works better if u have a heatran in the back), then encore and +1 lopp can do a lot of dmg to the opposing team, i think lopp is not bad rn as she can outspeed koko, ash gren and w/ this set have some utility and offensive lando is more common than defensive, we didn't use it, but we thought it

Celesteela @ Assault Vest
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 80 HP / 248 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Flame Charge
- Facade

This is a fun set which I wanted to try during my game vs welliou while bengay reacted "cool as heck" immediately after seeing this. But rozes forbidden it and i just used a regular set celesteela n_n
For speed control, it out-speeds excadrill at +1 and megal lopunny at +2; this provides some late game sweep possibilities while maintain the bulky advantage of itself.

Some calculations:
252 SpA Magnet Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 80 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Celesteela in Electric Terrain: 284-336 (80 - 94.6%)
248+ Atk Celesteela Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 230-272 (81.8 - 96.7%)
vs regular koko i'd say who has sr wins the dual while celesteela can chip-off little damage with flame charge.

252 SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 80 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Celesteela: 218-258 (61.4 - 72.6%)
248+ Atk Celesteela Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 384-452 (118.8 - 139.9%)
no way this shit loses to tran ;w; or maybe under grass terrain, and same way goes to magnezone.

0 SpA Rotom-Wash Volt Switch vs. 80 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Celesteela: 104-126 (29.2 - 35.4%)
248+ Atk Celesteela Facade (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 200+ Def Rotom-Wash: 101-119 (33.3 - 39.2%)
you never know that physical attack celesteela may beat rotom-wash 1v1

well, i have listed some common checks for celesteela; you could also use stone edge to beat volc or zardy perhaps.
If you like this set, please like my post as this is my first time sharing my sets on Smogon ;w;

Gengar @ Ring Target
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Trick
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

This set was used on a team I built that xray ended up using vs lighthouses. Unfortunately, he LOST but I would've WON. Gengar isn't too hot right now, but I liked the idea of being able to trick it onto a celesteela/lando-t and be able to EQ it with my own DD lando-t, or magearna and be able to steal away the AV and knock it out with a sludge wave. Some other targets you can hit are ferro, grounds for electric hits, heatran.

Rotom-Heat @ Firium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Rotom-H is something that I always found cool, and in the early WCOP meta I thought Fire/Elec stab sounded OP when stuff like fini, pex, ferro, and especially magearna were popular. It can be used as a nice volt-turner to bring in strong hitters like Medi, Maw etc. A lot of the time Z-Overheat just kills whatever, so having that one time nuke is a nice thing. The EVs were just to beat timid Magearna, I'd probably run max speed if I were to use it again (probably wouldn't).

Lastly, a team me and my pal Ary built, which I gladly would've used if I had a chance to play in playoffs but my stupid noob idiots captain retards benched me:
Xatu (F) @ Charti Berry
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 144 Def / 116 Spe

Clefable @ Leftovers

Zapdos @ Leftovers

Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Defog
- Roost

Another take on the popular Dug/Zard-Y archetype that everybody loved. But with a more stallish approach to it. Xatu's role in it is pretty obvious in that you just bounce rocks and come in vs. Lando when you can. The double pivot from Zap/Xatu into zard or dug is nice. The only thing I really hate facing with this team is M-Gyarados, but that thing kinda sucks anyways.
o and i like d-pulse on zard for picking off Latios cuz it sucks when they trick me, and it also makes rain more manageable cuz does a good bit to peli and beats kingdra, Ary is stupid and runs focus blast like an idiot though

used him in my tiebreak game vs trosko. sub is great to ease prediction and hp ice is a cool filler so you don't waste 25% to do only 80% to the ground types. ev'd to outrun standard av tang which is pretty important.

or

Camerupt-Mega (M) @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 120 HP / 252 SpA / 136 Spe
Modest Nature

- Nature Power
- Rock Slide

a bit of a different take. Zamrock used him in his semis game vs malekith and he unfortunately didn't get to show him off. nature power is a cool option because of how common terrains are in ou. every terrain gives camerupt a sheer force boosted move and it hits super hard. it's definitely situational and relies on prediction but if you get it correct it can be really cool. rock slide as the filler hits zard-y. it can also act as a check to most +1 volcarona. ancient power won't ko +1 volc but rock slide even with a -atk nature always will.

Clefable (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

this has been around forever so it's definitely no innovation. clefs in sm almost exclusively carry stealth rock because it's usually pretty reliable at getting them up. cm is just a cool filler on it because some teams are pretty unprepared for cm clef and it can act as a nice win condition, as seen here.

yo i did shit this wcop but i'm proud of canada for almost bringing it back. anyways wagwan here are some things i used, thought of but didn't use, or got an idea from other people.

Weavile @ Icium Z
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off

p2 credits to u, u motherfukin genius

weavile's a pretty dope mon right now considering the drop in usage of m-scizor. sd icium allows you to severely weaken / ohko annoyances like physdef clefable, ferrothorn, magearna, and the fact that you don't miss is nice. this either finds a way to clean late game or remove the mentioned mons for threats in the back like ash greninja, m-lopunny, whatever you want really lol. another nice thing is that lack of life orb recoil leads people to think band (on sacs for example) and go into a resist that proceeds to get destroyed.

===

Garchomp @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock / Fire Fang
- Swords Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake

sd dragonium chomp, this particular set is just so great on multiple playstyles. i'd use this over landorus-t to help with stuff like heatran and zard-y, especially considering it can force out both for rocks. not being locked into outrage eases up the breaking capability a ton to ohko stuff like physdef landorus-t, tangrowth, and zapdos at +2 which frees up other members or garchomp itself. fire fang is nice to be able to hit bulu if you already have a rocker, but this set is super nice at gaining offensive momentum and putting the opponent in an awkward situation.

===

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 16 Atk / 240 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stone Edge / Toxic

scarf tran is on this list mainly due to the fact that a ton of builds are bothered by offensive fire types with a lack of solid resists. as its a scarfer below 100, you're gonna wanna pair it with consistent volcarona answers like mantine or a secondary scarfer / multiple priority users. i like hp ice over like flash cannon on tran to net a guaranteed ohko (cause you don't miss fire blast) on offensive landorus-t, while severely weakening zygarde and chomper. stone edge in last typically to ohko zard-y and volcarona with 16 atk, but toxic is not bad for putting bulky waters on a timer.

===

but yea, not much revolutionary shit on my end this wcop as i tried to keep it consistent. in terms of stuff i currently like in the tier, protean greninja has sorta been overlooked with ash but like ebelt tspikes or ebelt / lorb 4 atk is certainly a bitch to deal with, av torn-t builds are usually pretty solid; flying resists like tran just get pressured by knock and spikes, autotomize celesteela on tspikes / toxic to pressure mew and shit is cool, does well against typical offenses and can get out of hand quickly. marowak is something i've been working with recently due to incline of offensive lando-t + secondary zygarde answer (mew, tang, etc), the point of it is to exploit common backbones / mons, but rocks are a bitch.

aside from that, i like the direction sm is going, but fuck dugtrio dude; i just wanna run black sludge on my toxapex's and click stone edge with band tyranitar. thanks for listening ya'll, dope sets i've been seeing so far!

I bring this tran against reyscarface.I don't understand why taunt tran is so rare cause he beat Mguard Clefable/Toxapex/Stuff like Non scald fini/annoy stuff like chansey,he can prevent setup by m-tar/ cm clef/ adamant dnite and stuff like that.He can put a sub on taunted clefable and put a lot of work.252max speed is for outspeed stuff like jolly bulu and jolly heracross ( i'm not sure this exist tho).Earth power is a "must" for tran and toxa ofc

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 64 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Rock Slide / U-turn / Sludge Wave

I needed a Pinsir counter that also checked Zygarde, and this was the best solution I could come up with. The idea is that only a defensive Landorus can survive Pinsir's Mega + Return + Quick Attack, but only a Scarf Landorus can beat Mega + Swords Dance, so why not combine both? As it happened, nobody brought Pinsir or Zygarde versus me, but this set ended up pulling its weight anyway in both the games I used it.

Turn 57: I get to leave Landorus in against Lele to scout its set, since Scarf Psychic doesn't KO, and Lando outspeeds Specs. As it turned out, Landorus both outran and survived Lele. Bonus: Nobody noticed this anomaly because I'd by then bored all the spectators into not paying attention to my game, so I got to use the set again.

Turn 20: Landorus takes less than half its max health from Supersonic Skystrike and proceeds to outrun and KO its opponent with Hidden Power Ice. I win the awe and favor of the Smogtours chat for a brief moment before losing it again by spending the next fifty turns stalling three Pokemon with a Toxapex.

64 Spe outruns Gengar, and 64 Atk is optional to secure the 100% OHKO on Pinsir with Rock Slide. The EVs could probably be tweaked further, but there's not much point to excessive Speed investment. The set isn't meant to play like a traditional scarfer, but more like a defensive Landorus that can outrun and surprise certain Pokemon. For this reason, I used it on a stall team that didn't require a scarfer and on a team in conjunction with another scarfer (Dugtrio). There are several things that work in favor of its surprise factor: Defensive Landorus frequently doesn't carry Leftovers, and on the off-chance that it gets hit with both a contact move and an Ice move (and lives), there are still several other viable option that would probably come to mind over Scarf; Landorus is also played like a pivot due to Intimidate, so coming in on a physical threat that should outspeed and KO isn't necessarily a giveaway of its Scarf; and in a similar vein, it can afford to choice lock itself more so than other defensive Pokemon.

I wanted to fit U-turn on there somewhere, but I couldn't; that being said, it's a natural choice for a choiced Pokemon. Sludge Wave would also work to lure Bulu if played correctly.

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
- Toxic
- Iron Head
- Rest
- Sleep Talk / Pursuit

Hard read into (Koko)Cham and also checks Latios, Lele, Pinsir, and Bulu, although I think it probably loses 1v1 to the last two. I'm glad nobody actually brought a Pinsir against me.

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp / Ice Beam
- Defog
- Roost

Am I taking credit for this Mew set? Maybe, if people are gonna buy it. I know many players have used fast Mew before, and I know people have used Volt Switch Mew, but I don't think I've seen anyone else use a Mew so easily beaten by Substitute Dugtrio. So there's that. The EVs outrun Adamant Zygarde. I think I actually forgot to use them, but I painstakingly calculated them at least. Volt Switch is cool because Greninja seemed to be *the* Mew answer at the time, in addition to Heatran. Obvious synergy with Dugtrio for the latter. Why use Earth Power when you can use Dugtrio?

ROCCO TRAPANATORE (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Taunt
- Scald
- Secret Sword

I used this keldeo against toxzn during round 1, taunt gives you the chance to set-up on mons such as Toxapex that can't toxic or haze it. Z-Fight is actually a super strong stab, you dont need to use focus blast because it gets the same kills fblast does.
Calcs:
Ssword:
+1 252 SpA Keldeo All-Out Pummeling (160 BP) vs. 40 HP / 216 SpD Alomomola: 510-601 (106 - 124.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Keldeo All-Out Pummeling (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 279-328 (70.1 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Keldeo All-Out Pummeling (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 280-331 (69.3 - 81.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Fblast:
+1 252 SpA Keldeo All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 40 HP / 216 SpD Alomomola: 606-714 (125.9 - 148.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Keldeo All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 334-394 (82.6 - 97.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Keldeo All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 330-388 (82.9 - 97.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

As you can see fblast doesnt guarantee more kills than ssword, and you earnings a move you can use after the Z without fear of missing.

Since spain players loves Celesteela so much i was curious to see the damage of Z-Rock Slide Excadrill and thats a really powerful one so i picked this set.
Calc:

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Dragon Dance

- Bounce

This is the only 'unset' I brought in wcop. I originally wanted a set that could lure and beat zapdos (which this set still does), so I started off with rockium-z and stone edge over bounce. This made gyara a little more vulnerable to things like defensive tang which was a bit of a let down. I still felt that this set had potential so I talked with TDK about the set and he showed me an idea that he had with waterium-z that I ended up stealing and putting it on this set. It still destroys zap (and other mons like magearna) while retaining good water/flying coverage.

This set was used in this game I played vs zephir. Both zephir and myself did not have replays in SM OU making it tough to decide on what to bring. So, like every SM OUer on west the best play here is to go bother evil super genius craing for a team. Since im very annoying, craing just gave me a team that I already had that he built before wcop. It had this pretty unique Celsteela set that had sub over protect. Physically def to take on things like Tapu Bulu, Scizor, Garchomp, Landorus-therian etc. Subsitute Celesteela just makes Steela annoying. For example, if you sub on a switch you lose 25, gain 6 then leech seed gain 6 and the 12 adding up to 24 meaning you really dont lose any hp while slowly chipping your opponent. (why did i just explain sub leech tect, major L) Sub also allowed you to avoid status (scald burns from toxapex, Burns from Mega Sab, Leech seed from ferrothorn etc) which is very nice. Too bad the Celesteela did not use a single move the game since it acted as a sack...

Credit for this set goes to mega ultra evil super-genius goat craing ;_;

I used this in my game vs Axel10 and it helped as a Swampert + Greninja check because the Iapapa gives you decent longevity. It also helps on my team to bait in bulky grasses like Tang or Ferro for Medi to come in or stuff like Clef for Gengar, making it a viable option for a pivot on offense, since it has more bulk and better defensive typing than Koko. Heres the team if anyone cares: http://pokepast.es/1bab5932a3c65812, i had Tran on the original version cause i thought itd be better on specific matchup vs axel but Magearna is better overall cause its way too dark weak otherwise.

Hello, its me

Greninja-Ash @ Waterium Z
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- Taunt

Well I used this in my game vs Sam because I didn't want to be locked in a move. Also, with the rain active, I could break more thing easily without using Choice Specs. I use Taunt for a possible web team or a stall team, and I was able to strike a massive water type attack with the z move.

Pelipper @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hurricane
- Surf
- Hydro Pump
- U-turn

Here's the balance breaker; I was mainly looking to beat bulky grass types such as AV Tangrowth, MVenusaur, Ferrothorn, etc, to give Greninja more chances to clean at a point in the game and generally remove the water ressists.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 344-408 (85.1 - 100.9%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 181-214 (51.4 - 60.7%) -- 91.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 156+ SpD Venusaur-Mega: 324-384 (89.2 - 105.7%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Fini: 190-225 (55.3 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Surf vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash in Rain: 138-162 (45.5 - 53.4%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash in Rain: 168-198 (55.4 - 65.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

during the group stage i noticed a lot of teams had the fwg core with heatran/bulu/gastro specifically, so i decided to bring this venu set vs cicada to have a better time dealing with this possibility and it would also let me deal with av magearna

in theory latios puts in more work, but latias still kos the same things latios wants to rk, in addition this mon has access to healing wish and a better bulk overall to switch in on more attacks so it gets the job done as a defoger / speed control in bulky offense or balanced teams

this set isn't new but since so many people was bringing stall i didn't want to risk a match up disadvantage and this was a pretty safe way to deal with the popular double defog stall team

i think in theory these sets were the most relevant of my run so i hope u guys can find some use of it

Nice thread, its always cool seeing some unsets specially in SM OU where theres still lots of discoveries to do. Thanks everyone for being active here!

Also theres something i would like to say at somewhere: thank you everyone on banana meteor, ive not been that great last months but everyone there respected me as player and trusted in me to bring everything i wanted to (even kartana who was in the HANTSUKI blacklist rofl), asked a ton to me about ideas etc. Its always what we expect in a team tour and im happy that we had a nice atmosphere in our chat. Shame we havent even reached playoffs since we had a really solid team but we'll do that next time hopefully. n_n

Whatever lets see some ES's innovations:

SPARTACUS (Kartana) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Smart Strike
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Giga Impact / Aerial Ace

This set is currently 2-0 in both WCoP + SPL, i didnt show it the first time and i figured that would be a nice idea to bring once again vs someone so pm2 was the victim. I like it because its almost unpredictable to the opp's eyes who will ever try to not let me get momentum to setup or revenge kill me with offensive things. The last slot is because i wanted to have an emergency button vs volcarona, aerial ace was the first set since i had priority on my team but anti suggested giga impact that has a nice chance to kill the offensive version + would have been cool to the spectators seeing a scarf kartana killing something with giga impact. He didnt bring volc but kartana was the superstar anyway so w/e.

MAKES ME WONDER (Greninja-Ash) @ Mystic Water
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Water Shuriken
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam

Ive been using this since SPL (shoutouts P2 wrawn), ash gren is actually really fucking good rn but the specs set doesnt fit that well on my playstyle, being locked means that my opp will get free momentum sometimes and its not good when your main style is offense. Ice beam gets some free kills against bulus/zygs/whatever and does some relevant chips vs tang.

MAPS (Landorus-Therian) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Rest

I used that vs the queen but he brought fucking rain against me so i couldnt show my precious baby. I chose chesto rest because i had solid answers to koko on my team and was too vulnerable against offensive mawile/zyg cores + wouldve been cool vs sab stall. Hopefully i can show this in the future because i really enjoyed it.

UNGODLY (Hoopa-Unbound) @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Magician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Hyperspace Fury
- Gunk Shot
- Focus Punch
- Substitute

BOAH. I didnt bring this set but was one of my options vs the queen/league, even tho i brought on spl finals vs tricking but i couldnt show it anyway rip. This set is amazing thanks to the lots of mew balances that are being used rn + the solid sdef that it has allowing to do things even vs offensive teams + the fact of how good the move substitute is on the current meta. Here is the ungodly set btw (for those who knows what im saying about :memes:).

FREE ME (Latios) @ Psychium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Whirlpool
- Heal Block

Other hot set that i couldnt bring this time, maybe in the future :litios:. This set is really good vs every stall archetype thanks to its ability to trapping things + stallbreaker set + possibility to setup sattack via z-heal block. Basically you will click whirlpool at the first time and get a free kill, z-shock is the button to fuck clef and z-heal block is to eat chansey's ass.

The spread i used for av mag. I saw tdk using spdef mag on his wcop game and was like "damn, why do ppl use max spa again", but uh basically spdef av mag should be the set used if it's your main specs gren check. Enough def to take an eq from lando and ohko with ibeam if needed(252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 228 HP / 44 Def Magearna: 302-356 (84.3 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO).
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 228 HP / 216+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 102-121 (28.4 - 33.7%) -- 45.2% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 228 HP / 216+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 88-105 (24.5 - 29.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock

IVs dropped so that it's slower than celesteela and it gets the volt switch off without it being able to leech seed something afterwards, but that's been a thing since ages ago anyway.

6x0s standard stall alone, has trouble with quag stall tho but that was not a thing when the set was made. Can't get knocked by sableye, and isn't stopped by unaware clef.

This one's more if you feel your team's weak to bulu/want it gone(for specs gren or something), i used it in my third game. Latios can switch in to most of bulus attacks(beware of z megahorn/zwood hammer) and it's not really threatning to it so this works most of the time.
252 SpA Latios Hidden Power Poison vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Bulu: 276-328 (98.2 - 116.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers/Chople Berry

This is the ferrothorn i always use on rain teams and it's the one dekzeh used. Explosion's great for rain because it's unpredictable and can keep up your momentum without losing too many turns of rain.

Used this on a stall team, set made by ben gay. This is not innovation or anything, but it's just never seen on stall except for mine/the one ben gay used. People never expect anything offensive on stall teams so it catches a lot of shit off guard, and it's actually incredibly strong. You don't really need another defensive defogger if you have sableye+mew/skarm(w/e) and you also don't need bulk to beat cm-less stealth rock clef 1v1/check pinsir so yeah. Notable calcs
252 SpA Zapdos Gigavolt Havoc (185 BP) vs. 112 HP / 0 SpD Heracross-Mega: 282-333 (85.7 - 101.2%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Zapdos Gigavolt Havoc (185 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Clefable: 319-376 (80.9 - 95.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Zapdos Gigavolt Havoc (185 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Heatran: 279-328 (86.3 - 101.5%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

Most DD Magearna run BoltBeam coverage nowadays so Fighting + Fairy on DD is really unexpected and can grab some kills by luring your standard BoltBeam Magearna answers (Ferrothorn, Heatran & Gastrodon mainly). The crux of this set is Z-Fleur Cannon which hits extremely hard and almost always guarantees killing a mon thus giving a special attack raise whereas BoltBeam Magearna lacks the immediate power and needs a lot of mons to be weakened to successfully sweep. The downside of this set is that it relies on inaccurate moves and gets walled by Haze Toxapex and Venusaur.

WATCH (Venomoth) @ Buginium Z
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Sleep Powder
- Roost

This thing just nukes about everything with Z-Buzz thanks to Tinted Lens, for example:

+1 252 SpA Tinted Lens Venomoth Savage Spin-Out (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 128 SpD Scizor-Mega: 294-346 (85.7 - 100.8%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+1 252 SpA Tinted Lens Venomoth Savage Spin-Out (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Keldeo: 362-426 (112 - 131.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Some other cool features:
- Toxic immunity lets it setup on Chansey -- something Volcarona can't do
- It's not x4 weak to Rock, thus not revenge killed by Stone Edge Keldeo
- It can make most of its checks (temporarily) useless by using Sleep Powder (e.g. Celesteela, Toxapex, Heatran, Mawile).

The biggest downside of using Venomoth is that it relies a lot on Sleep Powder so 1 miss or Electric / Misty Terrain + grounded check (e.g. Heatran or Mawile) can be annoying to deal with.

habits of my heart (Suicune) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Substitute
- Rest

- Calm Mind

Some of you might also know this one under the name "Flocune" -- it's basically a hybrid of CroCune and Vincune and uses the qualities of both sets: Rest gives it longevity and the ability to actually switch into stuff (e.g. Vincune can't even reliably switch into Heatran because it becomes completely useless if it gets hit by Toxic) and thanks to Substitute it can PP stall a ton of Pokemon and avoid status moves like Leech Seed or Spore. The crux of this set is that breaking Suicune's subs is very difficult so you often find yourself in a situation where you can maintain your sub for a few more rounds and use these free turns to use Rest.

come back for me (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Stealth Rock

- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast

CM + Rocks Clefable is not too creative (it actually used to be standard in ORAS at some point) but it didn't see much usage in SM as of now so I'm posting it. It's one of the very very few Pokemon that can setup rocks vs the combination of Sableye + Zapdos + Skarmory + Dugtrio which makes it very potent vs stall. Clefable also checks Lopunny, Gallade, Heracross, Medicham among others and with CM it annoys bulky cores consisting of Mew / Tangrowth, so yea definitely a great Pokemon right now.

HI (Marowak-Alola) @ Thick Club
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 132 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Punch
- Shadow Bone
- Rest / Swords Dance

Another underrated mon. It's not only great offensively by destroying Mew / Tangrowth / Celesteela cores but also has a lot of defensive utility:
- checks BoltBeam Magearna
- checks Tapu Koko & Zapdos
- sets up Rocks vs stall because it doesn't get annoyed Toxic Chansey / Skarmory / TSpikes Toxapex as it can just use Rest.

Rest also lets it be a more durable check to Magearna, Tapu Koko etc. Clerics such as Lopunny, Mew or maybe even Tapu Lele are recommended as partners. Otherwise pairing it up with Wish Alomomola / Jirachi is also a fine option and lets you run SD on the last slot. EVs let you outspeed Clefable.
