Silvally-Ghost [QC 0/3]

Status
Not open for further replies.
[OVERVIEW]
  • Silvally-Ghost is one of the best offensive pivots in the tier due to its good typing and good bulk.
  • Its good base 95 speed allows it to revenge kill and clean late game.
  • Silvally's access to Defog allows it to serve as an effective form of hazard control, while also being a prominent spin blocker.
  • Despite its capability to check most offensive threats, Silvally fails to beat healthy Sp. Def walls such as Lanturn, Type: Null, and Audino one on one.
  • Solid 95/95/95 defenses give it decent longevity and allow it to take neutral hits reasonably well.

[SET]
name: Offensive Defog
move 1: Defog
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Flamethrower
move 4: Toxic / Thunderbolt
item: Ghost Memory
ability: RKS System
nature: Timid
eve: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Defog clears the entire field of entry hazards and screens.
  • Shadow Ball is Silvally's STAB attacking move, checking common entry hazard setters including Mesprit, Qwilfish, and Palossand.
  • Flamethrower is a good answer for Ferroseed and Abomasnow, 2HKOing the former and OHKOing the latter.
  • Toxic can be used to pressure Sp. Def walls that Ghostvally struggles to break past including Lanturn, Cradily, and Hitmonchan.
  • Thunderbolt is also an option for the last moveslot as it OHKOes Swanna, Qwilfish, and Floatzel after rocks, while also hitting Offensive Noctowl super effectively.

Set Details
========

  • Silvally-Ghost has 252 SpA EVs to maximize its mediocre special attack.
  • A Timid nature with maximum speed is preferred as it allows Silvally to outspeed common threats such as Lilligant and Oricorio-G.
  • RKS System changes Silvally's type into its held Memory (in this case Ghost). However, because of this, it cannot hold another item.

Usage Tips
========

  • Silvally-Ghost should be brought in early game to check common entry hazard setters like Ferroseed, Palossand, Leavanny, and Qwilfish, before getting whittled down too much. Silvally has good longevity and can Defog multiple times throughout the match.
  • It can be brought in to revenge kill weakened threats, where it can choose either to retaliate or Defog (if necessary).
  • Silvally can also be used a check to threaten Psychic-types such as Mesprit, Raichu Alola, and Mr. Mime.
  • It can be brought into Hitmonchan as an effective spin blocker (if Defog is not needed), and cripple it with Toxic.
  • Silvally prevents Fighting- types including Primeape and Passimian from spamming Close Combat and also counters Last Resort Komala. However, it must be wary of Knock Off from Passimian.

Team Options
========

  • Gurdurr is Ghostvally's best team mate offensively, as it is able to check Silvally's main threats including Skuntank, Persian Alola, and Absol.
  • Miltank has a niche as being one of the few Normal- type Stealth Rockers in the tier, greatly appreciating Silvally's immunity to Close Combat, who can also spin block.
  • Fairy- types such as Togetic and Granbull can swap in onto some the Dark-types moves aimed at Silvally, but Knock Off will undermine Togetic's effectiveness as a wall.
  • Wallbreakers such as Choice Band Stoutland and Hitmonchan tear down the walls that sponge Silvally's special attacks, including Lanturn, Audino, Type: Null, and Skuntank. They compliment each other type wise as well, as Silvally can be brought in against Fighting type threats.
  • Fire-types including Magmortar and Pyroar can check Assault Vest Lurantis, who takes advantage of a Defog or Parting Shot from Silvally. However, they must both be wary of Lurantis' strong physical attacks including Superpower and Knock Off.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Silvally can be used as a more defensive Defogger with max EVs in HP and Defense. However, due to its lack of Leftovers or reliable recovery, it gets whittled down pretty easily. Defensive Ghostvally has its niche to be a general nuisance with Parting Shot and Roar, but is outclassed by Dusclops in this role overall.
  • Physical Silvally with Swords Dance is another option, but it is generally outclassed by other SD users such as Absol due to its access to priority and wider physical moveset.
  • Parting Shot is a notable move to mention, as it allows Silvally to pivot out of unfavorable matchups or provide momentum for the team.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: While Silvally-Ghost has a problem with the majority of Dark types in the tier, Skuntank proves to be its best counter, with its bulk able to tank Silvally's attacks with ease.

**Faster Ghost types**: Choice Scarf Haunter and Oricorio-G can OHKO Silvally with little prior damage, however Oricorio-Sensu is invalidated without a Choice Scarf.

**Chip damage**: Strong fast sweepers such as Archeops and Pyroar can 2HKO Silvally with their STAB attacks.

**Normal-types**: Miltank and Audino can heal off Silvally's attacks while crippling it with Toxic. Kangaskhan can check Silvally pretty well due to the Scrappy ability and accessibility to strong priority moves including Fake Out and Sucker Punch, and Drampa can threaten with STAB Draco Meteor.

**Sp. Def walls**: Silvally's inaccessibility to moves boosting its special attack (besides the unviable Work Up) prevents it from breaking through any Sp. Def walls that are hit neutrally including Cradily, Lanturn, and Hitmonchan.

**Lurantis**: Perhaps one of the greatest threats to Defog Silvally. It gains an evasion boost from Defog due to its excellent ability in Contrary, and with Assault Vest, it will hardly be 4HKOed by Flamethrower.

Megazard edit cuz I don't feel like making a new post- no to the SD set. it aint good, just drop it to a negative OO mention. Also I'm not totally certain on this but slashing surf with flamethrower makes more sense to me, abomasnow/ferroseed are big targets buuut dropping ice beam means u cant touch drampa and dropping surf means u cant touch pyroar and both of those outcomes are quite annoying whereas fthrower is more of a quality of life type of move
[OVERVIEW]

• Silvally-Ghost is one of the best offensive pivots in the tier with its good typing and good bulk.
• Its 95/95 attacking stats make it a versatile Pokemon capable of running either a physical or special set.
• Its access to Parting Shot gives it incredible cohesion with its team mates. (expand by saying something like "pshot allows it to pivot out on threats and lowers there offensive stats")
• Its mediocre base 95 speed prevents it from being able to switch into faster threats without being 2HKOed. (im kinda confused tbh. 95 speed is pretty decent and im not sure how the speed of a pokmon prevents it from being able to switch in to faster foes.. I think you mean revenge kill?)
• Due to its ability, Silvally is unfortunately unable to carry an item, which hinders its sweeping capabilities.
( Mention that its a prominent spin blocker) (I dont see anything about it being vulnerable to dark-types or pursuit) (the bullet points also seems to be bigger than normal) (I also dont see anything about it struggling to break spdef walls like lanturn/miltank/type:null/audino)

[SET]
name: Offensive pivot
move 1: Parting Shot
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Flamethrower
move 4: Ice Beam/Surf
item: Ghost Memory
ability: RKS System
nature: Timid
eve: 252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

• Parting Shot enables Silvally to switch while conveniently lowering the opponent's attacking stats, letting Silvally pivot into a better matchup.
• Shadow Ball is Silvally's STAB attacking move, capable of hitting the majority of the tier at least neutrally.
• Flamethrower is a good answer for Ferroseed and Abomasnow if your team lacks any other Fire or even Fighting type coverage.
• Surf can OHKO Rock-, and Ground-types such as Golem while also being Silvally's main tool to hit Pyroar. On the other hand, Ice Beam can hit Dragon types really hard to possibly prevent Drampa or Exeggutor Alola from destroying your team. (icebeam does not ohko drampa so you need to reword this)
• Thunderbolt is also an option as it OHKOes Swanna and Floatzel after rocks, but it is generally inferior to Ice Beam or Surf.
• Given the fact that Silvally can't cover every pokemon in the tier, Parting Shot can switch out of unfavorable matchups and gain momentum against Fighting types. Avoid using it if the opposing team carries Pawniard. (this sounds like a random usage tip remove it or expand on your point about pshot above)

Set Details
========

• Silvally-Ghost has max SpA EVs to maximize its mediocre special attack.
• A Timid nature is definitely preferred over Modest as it allows Silvally to outspeed common threats such as Lilligant and Oricorio-G. A Modest Silvally will be slightly more powerful, but will rarely snag OHKOs or 2HKOs that a Timid Silvally wouldn't. (mention maximum speed)
(I guess you could mention what rks system does)

Usage Tips
========

• Silvally-Ghost is mainly used as an offensive pivot, but can also clean late game once all pokemon are weakened. Its 95/95/95 bulk prevents it from being OHKOed by most neutral hits, allowing it to check and pivot right back out. (this is too generic can you go into more detail? something about what to use pshot on would be nice)
• It is an exceptional spin blocker due to its natural bulk, and it also prevents the likes of Scarf Primeape and Passimian from spamming Close Combat. It also 3HKOes Gurdurr with Shadow Ball, being 3HKOed by Knock itself. (this seems like good info but its not really a usage tip. a usage tip would be "bring silvally in on spinners like hitmonchan.. etc)
• Silvally also threatens Mesprit (aka the most versatile pokemon in the tier), 2HKOing all non-Specially Defensive variants with Shadow Ball. (yeah this isnt a usage tip maybe say something like "use silvally to rk psychic-types like mesprit")
(add something about what to use its coverage moves versus)

(YOU ARE MISSING THE ENTIRE TEAM OPTIONS SECTION!!!)

[SET]
name: Ghost Killer
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Multi-Attack
move 3: Return/Flame Charge
move 4: Substitute/Parting Shot (check in with qc about sub. and im not sure about pshot on this set either cuz if you have sd you dont rly wanna pivot out)
item: Ghost Memory
ability: RKS System
nature: Jolly/Adamant
eve: 252 Att/ 4 SpD/ 252 Speed

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

• Swords Dance enables Silvally to boost its reasonable attack to high levels, capable of 2HKOing most pokemon after +2. (what pokemon? be more specific) It is the move that allows physical Silvally to be viable.
• Multi-Attack is a strong STAB attack, hitting most of the tier at least neutrally. (mention some threats it can hit instead of just saying "hit the tier neutrally")
• Return is decent coverage, due its ability to hit Normal types somewhat hard while also 2HKOing Dark types (what normal and dark types? this is a note to you to be more specific btw) i would add pyroar/ skuntank
after +2 (except for Pawniard). (?) However, Flame Charge allows Silvally to outspeed all non-scarf Pokemon at +1, letting it take on a more threatening presence against offensive teams. (expand.. what "non-scarf Pokemon")
• Substitute is a good option to avoid status. Due to Silvally's natural bulk, most walls won't be able to break a Substitute with a neutral attack. Parting Shot is another option, allowing Silvally to switch out of bad matchups. (yeah, i would remove this but check in with qc first)

Set Details
========

• Maximum Attack EVs allows Silvally to fully take advantage of a Swords Dance boost. (or say makes it as strong as possible)
• A Jolly nature is preferred, allowing Silvally to revenge kill weakened threats even before SD.(what weakened threats...?) An Adamant nature will allow Silvally to score some KOs that a Jolly Silvally wouldn't (what are some notable ohkos? this analyis just lacks so much detail it seems), but it loses to Oricorio Sensu and takes away from its niche to clean late game. When running an Adamant nature, Flame Charge is highly recommended. why?
• An odd number of HP allows Silvally to Substitute up to four times if necessary. (remove unless qc wants this)

Usage Tips
========

• As mentioned before, offensive Silvally is an exceptional spin blocker and Fighting type check due to its well rounded defenses. However, the physical set has a harder time damaging Gurdurr than the special one. (can you phrase this as a usage tip.. you are just repeating information)
• Silvally-Ghost can take advantage of more passive walls, while severely damaging more offensive ones such as Lanturn and Sableye.
• Return is basically Silvally's only coverage against Normal types, so it is preferred if your team lacks a second physical wallbreaker. Flame Charge is preferred if your team lacks a scarfer. (???? this isnt a usage tip -_-)
(this is also super short add more stuff like what to sd on)

Team Options
======== (everything in this section is in the wrong format)

• Gurdurr: Gurdurr is Ghostvally's best team mate offensively, able to check Silvally's main threats including Skuntank, Persian Alola, Absol, etc. ( dont say etc )In return, Silvally can take at least one attack from Flyinium Z Oricorio-Sensu, while retaliating with its own STAB attacks. Also, Gurdurr easily handles the bulky Normal types that Silvally has trouble with. (like...?) and also not just gurdurr fighting-types in general

• Defensive Miltank: Miltank has a niche as being one of the few Normal Stealth Rockers in the tier, greatly appreciating Silvally's immunity to Close Combat. Miltank will be able to set up Stealth Rock successfully, relying on Silvally to spin block. The presence of entry hazards helps special Silvally secure KOs more easily. Miltank can also handle physical Skuntank with ease. (??? it does not handle physical skunk with ease lol)

• Physical wallbreakers: Wallbreakers such as Choice Band Stoutland tear down the walls that sponge Silvally's weaker attacks. They compliment each other type wise as well. (this is very short and lacking detail. what exactly does stout break for silvally is what i want to know)

(this section is also pretty short so add to it)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

• Defensive Silvally carrying Toxic/Thunder Wave and Parting Shot can be used as a good defensive pivot. However, due to its lack of Leftovers or reliable recovery, it gets whittled down pretty easily. Defensive Ghostvally has its niche to be a general nuisance with Parting Shot and Roar, but is outclassed by Dusclops in this role overall.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Skuntank**: While Silvally-Ghost has a problem with the majority of Dark types in the tier, Skuntank proves to be its best counter, with its bulk able to tank Silvally's attacks with ease. Even after Parting Shot is used, a -1 Pursuit will still do a solid chunk of damage.

**Faster Ghost Types**: Choice Scarf Haunter and Oricorio-G can OHKO Silvally with little prior damage. Without a Scarf, Oricorio is invalidated but Silvally runs the risk of a speed tie with Haunter.

**Fast threats**: Strong fast sweepers such as Archeops and Pyroar can 2HKO Silvally with their STAB attacks. However, upon switch-in, Silvally can normally soft check these threats.

**Dark-types**

**bulky pokemon**

**Normal types**: For the most part, all Normal types deal with Ghostvally (Silvally Ghost you mean) well. Miltank and Audino can heal off Silvally's attacks while crippling it with Toxic. Kangaskhan also deals with Silvally pretty well due to the Scrappy ability and strong priority moves.
am check add what you want. btw this analysis seems to lack a ton of detail and has numerous formatting issues

The above wasn't a QC check, so you're still at QC 0/3. We'll usually stamp what we QC by the way. If you're still unsure about who is on the QC team I'd recommend looking here! Thanks!

So I did have a big check here, but then qc decided that this thing is just better suited to a Defog set now that USUM is here rather than a parting shot one. The below is what we'd rather go with instead. Additionally, what the check outlined is that this analysis has massive, massive issues in the way it's formatted and written. There's a lot of extra spaces, slashes arent done right, and the bullet points are, uh, not regular bullet points? Usage tips is also really problematic with a real lack of info. Since this analysis is so old and the set is out of date, we're giving you another shot to work on this. I'd highly recommend to check out other analyses or ask for help on Discord if you need it. Oh and in checks and counters, the skuntank section should be for all dark types, fast threats should be for chip damage, and the whole thing just really isn't written up very well

yeah im sorry but this analysis is still problematically poor, there's a lot in here that suggests a significant lack of experience with PU (talking about sets like AV Lurantis and Last Resort Komala for example) and the detail is greatly lacking. I'm going to have to reassign this one.
