If you're managing, please send your lineup to me by Sunday night. I'll post lineups by 12 AM EST (GMT -5), but please do your best to get them in by 11 PM EST on Sundays at the latest, as my schedule runs pretty early and I need to be up around 5 AM each day. If I don't have them all by this time, I'm just going to go with the lineup you submitted the week before. If you need to make any changes after that, please PM ASAP.

Since I'm host and not managing, you don't need to worry about finding a different person to PM your lineup to each week. You'll submit your lineup to me by 11 PM EST every Sunday.

Playoffs

The 4 teams with the best records will move on to the playoffs where the #1 seed will play the #4 seed and the #2 will play the #3. The two victors will move on to the finals, with the victor of that week ultimately crowned the Monotype Winter Premier Champions.

Two tied teams will have their tie broken based on who won their head-to-head matchup. In the case that they tied in the week they played, the team with the most total games won during the regular season of the Winter Premier will win the tiebreaker. If three teams are tied, if one team has beaten the other two, then they will win the tiebreak. If each team has beat one team and lost to the other (i.e. all teams are 1-1 in this 3 team group) then the team with the most games won during the regular season of the Winter Premier will win the tiebreaker.
The above is taken from the Monotype Winter Premier Discussion thread. All 8 managers have agreed on a change. When this tournament was initially in its conception, the intention was for overall wins to be the determining factor for the standings. As of the managers' agreement, here is how playoffs will be decided:

The 4 teams with the most overall wins will move on to the playoffs, where the #1 seed (the team with the most overall wins) will play the 4th seed. The teams with the second and third most wins, the #2 and #3 seed respectively, will be the other semifinals match. The winner of each semifinals game will move on to the finals, with the victor of that week ultimately crowned the Monotype Winter Premier Champions.

In the case that two teams have the same overall wins and it impacts seeding or entry into the playoffs (in the case of the #4 seed), the team that won the head-to-head matchup between the two will win the tiebreaker. If they tied in the week they played, then the matchup will be decided by a Best of 3 tiebreaker. There will be at least one USUM slot. Managers will take turns vetoing one format between one USUM, AAA, STABmons, LC, Monothreat and Ubers until two of the six are left. This same format will be used in the instance that two teams tie in a playoff week. The higher seed will get to veto first.

In the event that more than 3 teams tie in overall wins and among their group have the same record (i.e. each team has beaten one of the teams in this group of 3 and lost to another) the same Best of 3 would apply as in a 2-team tie, but in a round robin fashion with the team(s) with the best record(s) in the round robin proceeding to the playoffs.

RE: trash vs. Level 56

Situation: On turn 46, Level 56 disconnected from the battle. trash turned the timer on shortly after this occurred. I do not have teams from either side.

From here, I have 4 options:

1) Give trash the win if he had it 100% - he did not, and therefore I cannot give him the win.
2) Give Level 56 the win if he had it 100% - he did not, and therefore I cannot give him the win.
3) See this as a timeout and give trash the win.
4) See this as a timeout and declare a recreation of the battle.

Before I get into my explanation, I would like to note that I have used MPL III, SPL 6 and SPL 5 as precedents for the situation before us.

Analysis: I cannot do 1 or 2, as neither player had a guaranteed win with the situation before them. We cannot recreate the battle as I did not have either of the teams sent to me, and option 4 is out of the question. I am left with no recourse but to default to option 3. This is not a judgment call on my part, it is simply an objective analysis of the situation.

Result: trash will receive a win by timeout.

As a further note, and this is a result of me hosting for the first time and lacking knowledge of certain aspects, if you would like to submit your teams to me before your games you may do so so that the battle can be recreated. In the case that one side DCs and did not send in their team while the other team did, I will default rule in favor of the other team as in this case in SPL 6.

Just so everybody knows, with the holiday period coming next week and starting over this coming weekend, it's been decided that Week 3 will last until 12/31 11:59 PM EST. This is to give people two weeks to get their matches done as both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve fall on a Sunday, so it's pretty likely that people will be with their families and I'd like to give people that time.

RE: dodmen vs. Thimo Week 3

Thimo contacted dodmen to see what his availability was to play their USUM match on December 18th, only a day after the week started. Dodmen never responded to his post. There was no post from lax in the Week 3 thread asking to sub him out or a PM to either host asking to sub him out. Thimo receives the activity win.

RE: -Tsunami- (shake) vs. Wincon. Week 4

Situation: Shake started the timer at the beginning of the battle. Wincon had multiple turns where his time remaining reached 30 seconds or less. He did not ask shake to turn the timer off or alert shake that his connection may be an issue. Eventually, on turn 49, Wincon lost due to inactivity. I did not receive teams from either player or their respective manager.

From here I have 4 options:

1) Give shake the win if he had it 100% - he did not, and therefore I cannot give him the win.
2) Give Wincon. the win if he had it 100% - he did not, and therefore I cannot give him the win.
3) See this as a timeout and give shake the win.
4) See this as a timeout and declare recreation of the battle.

Before I jump into the explanation, just know that I'm using my previous decision involving trash and Level 56 as a precedent. This decision also took decisions made in MPL III, SPL 6 and SPL 5 into account.

Analysis: I cannot do 1 or 2, as neither player had a guaranteed win. Neither player nor their respective manager submitted the teams they were using, so we cannot recreate the conditions of the match. As a result, option 4 is out of the question. There is no other option than 3, and rather this being a subjective choice, it is instead an objective conclusion based upon the circumstances.

Result: Shake will receive the win by timeout.

Again, if you'd like to avoid these scenarios, please submit your teams to me before matches are played.

RE: Thimo vs. Haakunite Week 4

Due to some misunderstandings regarding timezones, both players were not on when scheduled. As a result, I'm going to let the players play after the deadline. Optimally I would have liked it to occur tomorrow, but due to conflicts, the match will be played Tuesday.

RE: KratosMana vs. iRKD Week 4

This match was originally KratosMana vs. Seo, but Seo had to be subbed out for iRKD. Neither player left a VM on the other's wall. iRKD was subbed in but there was no contact made until Saturday evening EST. iRKD said he would be online around 1 PM PST but was not, while Kratos was. Therefore, KratosMana receives the activity win.

RE: Pearl vs. iLlama Week 4

Pearl and Llama had intended to play Sunday evening. However, as Thorn and Misaka notified Omega and I, Pearl came down with something and became very sick. It's unfortunate, but Thorn had no players left to sub and as a result, Llama receives the activity win.

RE: dodmen vs. Christo Week 4

No contact was made on either player's wall, and no managers attempted to contact a host about getting the game done. The result is that it is a dead game.

RE: Haakunite vs Thimo

On Thimo's wall, Haaku proposed a time frame of after 4pm EST. Thimo responded by saying he preferred to play in his late afternoon, which would be from 10-12 EST. Haaku never responded to this. Although Haaku was on during the 10-12 window, Thimo is not obligated to be online for a time that was not agreed upon. Prior to the extension, Thimo and Haaku scheduled for 12 AM on Sunday GMT +1, which is 6 PM on Saturday for Haaku. Haaku missed this scheduled time. Result: Thimo receives the activity win.

RE: trash vs. Zukushiku Week 5

Situation: trash started the timer turn 2. At turn 22, Zukushiku's timer dipped below 60 seconds. During previous turns, the timer had not dipped below 100 seconds. There was no signal that connection may be an issue. On turn 24, Zukushiku timed out.

Analysis: This situation is similar to what happened between trash and Level 56 and between shake and Wincon. These two instances provide the rationale for this decision, and also references similar situations in MPL III, SPL 6 and SPL 5. Neither player has a guaranteed win and I was not provided lineups by either team before the game. Since I do not have teams, the battle conditions cannot be recreated.

Result: trash receives the win by timeout.

I really can't stress this enough. If your team wants to avoid these situations, you as the player, your manager or a teammate can PM me your team.

RE: Nightwingg95 vs. Twix

Nightwingg contacted Twix roughly 2 AM Friday morning. On Friday evening, Twix told Nightwingg to "take the win." A few hours later, Nightwingg posts to make sure Twix is alright with this. Twix did not get back a bit over a half a day later, with only 10 hours left in the day and Nightwingg unsure if he could play the next day. Since Nightwingg initiated and gave possible times well before the deadline and I did not see any attempts to sub for Twix, Nightwingg gets the activity win. It would not be right to ask Nightwingg to operate on a 10 hour window after miscommunication.

RE: rozes vs. Level 56

The game was scheduled for 1 PM EST Sunday. I have evidence to show that rozes was on at the scheduled time while 56 was not. rozes gets the activity win.
