Mesprit @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Healing Wish / Thunder Wave

Mesprit is one of the best Pokemon in the PU metagame due to the plethora of sets it can effectively run in tandem with its solid bulk and great support and offensive movepool, making it extremely easy to use. These traits along with being the best Stealth Rock user in the tier and having a prominent Ground immunity make Mesprit metagame defining and particularly notable when teambuilding. This is one of the most common variants of Mesprit that can easily check Fighting-types like Primeape and Gurdurr. U-turn and Healing Wish are also fantastic utility moves; U-turn allows Mesprit to generate momentum, and Healing Wish means Mesprit can sacrifice itself later in the game to give a second life to a teammate. Even if Mesprit looks perfect on paper, it still has some drawbacks. Unfortunately, Mesprit stuggles against Dark-types like Skuntank and Spiritomb because of Pursuit, and its lack of reliable recovery also means its easily worn down by repeated attacks and struggles to check Fighting-types like Primeape that it is usually tasked to handle. Nevertheless, Mesprit is still a staple on almost any team in the PU metagame, and its ability to support its teammates is unrivaled.

Just looked through some of my replays to see if I could add to them, and these are what I've found. Use them if you want.

Mesprit is one of the best Pokemon in the PU metagame due to the plethora of sets it can effectively run, in tandem with solid bulk and a great support movepool (and great offensive movepool, if you're being general here) (i'd talk about it being meta-defining here rather than later because it's not just defining for one set, on top of it being super splashable, and saying how unpredictable it is due to the amount of sets it can run). This is the most common variant (from what i've looked up via the usage stats of 1630, this isn't the most common variant (at least not this exact spread) and that actually belongs to a more offensive spread. i'd instead talk about how it's one of the most common sets instead) of Mesprit that can easily switch in on physical attackers like Primeape and Gurdurr and proceed to setup Stealth Rock, attack with Psychic, or pivot with U-turn (i'm unsure i like exactly how this is phrased. i'd specifically mention how it's one of the best fighting-type checks in the tier) (while i know zard said to watch about it not sounding like an analysis, i think just stating how these moves make it good would a solid idea; not "this move is used against x" or "stealth rock is good because x" more, "u-turn supports its teammates with slow a slow momentum move" or "u-turn and healing wish are fantastic utility moves, which support mesprit's teammates". something like that) (like i wouldn't even mention psychic here, it's clear that if it's a fighting-type check that you'll be using psychic against them). The aforementioned traits along with being the best Stealth Rock user in the tier and a prominent Ground resist makes Mesprit meta defining and particularly notable when teambuilding (i'd mention stealth rock before the part above, or integrate it in somehow) (teammate support extends to healing wish too, which is incredibly notable for mesprit). Even if Mesprit looks perfect on paper, it still has some drawbacks. Unfortunately, defensive sets are vulnerable to Pursuit trappers such as Skuntank and Spiritomb even if Mesprit is holding a Colbur Berry (disagree totally here. defensive sets are able to "deal" with pursuit trappers far easier in comparison to more offensive sets. u-turning on skuntank using pursuit, especially with colbur berry, means you take very little damage) (healing wish also means it can sack itself later in the game to avoid being pursuit-trapped). Mesprit's lack of longevity (specify lack of reliable recovery here, or any recovery) also means its easily worn down by repeated attacks and can struggle to check Fighting-types like Primeape that it is usually tasked to handle. Nevertheless, Mesprit is still a staple on almost any team in the PU metagame and its ability to support its teammates is unrivaled.

Implement this and message me or tag me when this is done so I can check it again. Yes I'm nit-picking, but it's just because it's Mesprit.

Mesprit is one of the best Pokemon in the PU metagame due to the plethora of sets it can effectively run, in tandem with solid bulk and a great support and offensive movepool, making it extremely splashable, and unpredictable due to the number of sets it can run (repetitive with the first mention of it running multiple sets). These traits along with being the best Stealth Rock user in the tier and a prominent Ground resist makes Mesprit meta defining and particularly notable when teambuilding. This is one of the most common variants of Mesprit that can easily check Fighting-types like Primeape and Gurdurr (think you could make this flow a bit more. defensive mesprit is one of the most common mesprit sets thanks to its utility and ability to check fighting-types like primeape and gurdurr). Stealth Rock is one of the best moves in the game and Mesprit is the premier user on offensive and defensive teams (remove, you already talk about stealth rock earlier so no need to repeat it). U-turn and Healing Wish are also fantastic utility moves; U-turn allows Mesprit to bring in its teammates safely and Healing Wish means Mesprit can sacrifice itself later in the game to give a second life to a teammate (just say the offer momentum and support its teammates, most people will know what the actual moves do in my opinion) (i'd actually mention a few other things it checks briefly too). Even if Mesprit looks perfect on paper, it still has some drawbacks. Unfortunately, Mesprit stuggles against Dark-types like Skuntank and Spiritomb because of Pursuit. Mesprit's lack of reliable recovery (just say recovery actually) also means its easily worn down by repeated attacks and can struggle to check Fighting-types like Primeape that it is usually tasked to handle. Nevertheless, Mesprit is still a staple on almost any team in the PU metagame and its ability to support its teammates is unrivaled.
