Proof of peak cause people want that and shit:

Dont ask for more, laddering is boring and meaningless, but had to prove this team can do something...

Fortuna faitrix is the term used on ancient Rome used to describe "The fortune is life" and I will say it, Ive been pretty fortunate on many occassions when playing Pokemon... and in life, Thank God.

Introduction

Hello, Im MrAldo and welcome to my 2nd RMT ever! After playing and defending ORAS RU for kind some time, SM RU was a completely new experience to me with Z-Moves completely shaking up the whole concept of the game and RU became so much different than it was back then. Ton of new toys but at the same ton of broken things! After playing it for a while I do believe the metagame is fun but there are so many good things right now. there is this need of massive role compression on teams so stuff like Nido Umbreon Balance, Doublade being so omnipresent and defensive Pokemon finding way on pretty offensive archetypes (like p2 on pretty offensive builds for example) so only stuff like Froslass Offense is the elephant in the room but thats because building with that Pokemon is hella linear anyways, but in the end it is a good experience, despite you seeing pretty linear picks there is a ton of potential for many Pokemon.

Team Development

Basically the whole reason behind this team structure was to trying making the best of an offensive Moltres set. The metagame is very unkind to a set like Life Orb right now due to the abundance of Specially Defensive Pokemon and Sub Roost isnt a defensive set and I find that set absolutely disgusting (it is a long story, altho I still use it from time to time... hypocresy, I know) so decided to use the Choice Scarf set. Been working well since it still terrorizes offense since their common flying resist is either Doublade of SpDef sponges or... basically nothing. So yeah, the Froslass Offense seen on the ladder is extremely weak to this thing, and it is natural.

Flygon was the next pick because Dragon Dance is absolutely crazy and I love it, and it complements Scarf Moltres really well. Scarf Moltres terrorizes offense while DD Flygon terrorizes balance. Simple relationship.

Why do I jump from 2 members to a whole team? Because this was the first version! I liked it a lot but this was prior the unbanning of Feraligatr and me really wanting to have spikes somewhere really made me drop this concept. Running Dhelmise as my grass made me rather weak to Feraligatr and annoyed by things around the 85 base speed tier, while Im probably exaggerating with the weakness, I had to change things. Some people have this version and it is cool (and probably better than the new one... nothing new) but yeah, back to the drawing board.

So I keep telling to myself "I want spikes, I want spikes, I want spikes, I WANT SPIKES" so yeah I added Roserade as my spikes setter and grass type of choice which is faster than feraligatr, the whole 85 base speed tier which is common with stuff like Kommo-o and Heracross here and being a notable breaker. Any combination of Spikes/Synthesis/Sleep Powder + 3 Attacks is absurdly threatening and can keep up spikes against many of the hazard control available, altho Mantine is tricky, but it is really effective as pressuring defensive teams.

With Roserade on the team I couldnt use Dhelmise as my spinner here (there is probably nothing wrong with running 2 grass types, but I just couldnt bear the feeling) so I needed another option for hazard control to diminish the ice weakness. Boy, this was tough to find cause Donphan just added more problems, not a big fan of Cryogonal in general and man, Blastoise is ass so... this was problematic, so then I though about something looking at the bottom of the barrel: "What about Kabutops?" This mon ended up working better than expected and IMO, it is a legit option for hazard control (you get screwed over by chesnaught, but the past 3 members screw over that thing so it is whatever) and weak armor is a clutch ability, taking some physical moves in a pinch and suddenly becomes a revenge killer with absurd speed. And Water/Rock coverage is good so yeah.

Next I needed some sort of Glue that can hold this thingy together. The first thing that comes to your mind when you see the word glue and RU on the same sentence is Doublade. "Do we have Doublade?" "Yes" "Use that shit" but I needed Stealth Rock and stuff like Gligar and Nidoqueen only amplified the ice weakness since having Kabutops isnt enough. So I went with Registeel. Despite my public hate for this Pokemon, it complements the team well and does what I need. Offering a sponge against Special Attackers like Swellow, Psychic Check, Shaymin check, Stealth Rock setter, something to beat Sharpedo, all good Registeel stuff. Made me weak to stuff like Mismagius and what not but it is how it is.

Last, but not least important, I needed something to handle stall teams or to not autolose to them. You would think Spikes + DD Flygon would be enough to pressure them but that still falls a bit short so Gardevoir is here to put the last nail in the coffin. This mon is really cool, one of the most effective wallbreakers around and I will explain later on how this beats stall cause Specs doesnt do that honestly.

Team

Moltres @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- U-turn
- Flamethrower
- Hurricane
- Fire Blast

The reason behind the team and how it was constructed. Scarf Moltres is cool cause many offensive teams have the tendency to give flying resists since stuff like Fletchinder got nerfed the fuck out and doesnt exist so offense tend to forget to run those and scarf moltres takes huge advantage of that. We all know the nightmare Scarf Moltres was for offense and well, in this meta isnt much different except Moltres isnt busted in SM. The set is pretty self explanatory, Hurricane and Fire Blast for damage, Flamethrower to certify revenge kills and U-turn to pivot out of potential switch-ins.

Flygon @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Iron Tail
- Earthquake
- Outrage

Flygon is spectacular. With Dragon Dance it evolves from an annoying utility mon into a massive threat to basically any team. Z-Moves are just the icing of the cake which allow it to bust through stuff much more easily, and without the need of locking into Outrage, so that makes the set even better. Pretty self explanatory with Dragon Dance for obvious reasons, Iron Tail is the coverage to hit Fairies like Gardevoir and Whimsicott which otherwise wall you, Earthquake for STAB move No. 1 and Outrage for STAB move No. 2 and to use the Dragonium Z. Dragonium Z cause stuff like Cresselia can be really annoying, same with Reuniclus so you can overpower it more easily cause... it is so stupid.

Roserade @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 29 HP / 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm

Elegance and destruction in one pack. Isnt it lovely? Roserade is a really good Pokemon and Id say that, at the risk of overselling it, Roserade makes for a fantastic Pokemon because it puts so much work against basically any team. Spikes are amazing as always, and provide Moltres and Flygon with chip damage to pressure most of their checks. Hidden Power Fire alongside Technician turn it into a 90 bp move which gives the necessary extra damage so Pokemon like Doublade and Registeel arent so face pivoting into it. Sludge Bomb is great to smack Fairies like Florges and Comfey and Leaf Storm is just a nuke you can spam pretty freely if there is no steel type or poison type around.

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Rapid Spin
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet
- Stone Edge

Ah, the oddball of the team. This isnt a Pokemon that you wont see often but I firmly believe it is a viable option for hazard control, cause I believe the spinner has to be able to threaten Doublade if you pretend to spin later in the match (Cryogonal fails to do that even without the eviolite, hence why I didnt picked it here). Weak Armor is a great ability, especially after the boost it received, being clutch when it take a resisted physical attack doubling its speed to absurd levels and with its coverage it can be fairly annoying to switch into. Moveset is pretty self explanatory: Spin cause cant have the sneaky pebbles ruining the day of my Moltres, Knock Off to pressure Doublade which you otherwise fail to do significant damage but it is also a good move to spam in order to get rid of items from its switch-ins and what not, Aqua Jet for good STAB priority and Stone Edge for a strong secondary STAB move. It blows to not have Waterfall at times but I found much more value in Aqua Jet to revenge kill weakened targets in rough situations.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave / Iron Head
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic

The Pokemon that despite you hating it (in my case at least) it still does what you need it to do and keeps providing the utility. What a bro, gotta respect that. I legit dislike this Pokemon but it provided me with the necessary role compression so I could have the last team slot for something else. This Pokemon is passive, linear but it is definitely a good pick on a metagame where role compression is extremely valuable to the point you deviate yourself a bit from an ideology cause there are too many threats to cover (like I wouldnt Registeel on this offensive team ideally, but it does the trick well). Covers a bunch of stuff, spams status and provided consistent damage. Never felt the need to protect so I just used thunder wave to keep some setup sweepers at bay. Scummy, I know. Iron Head is also an option so stuff like Hoopa and Mismagius doesnt grab this as setup bait.

Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Substitute

The stallbreaker. Remember the bit where I said that Specs will not be breaking stall teams on its own? Well, this set kind of does that, especially with the support provided by the team. This set takes advantage of the flagship nido umbreon mantine balanced cores by itself and thanks to Roserade sharing basically the same checks and in conjunction with Spikes, it makes for an excellent win condition for the team in question. Doublade, Registeel and Escavalier are hella pressured by it with the Spikes and find a lot of setup opportunities against many teams. Good variation since I found people had too much on an easy time pivoting through resists with the specs on and found that annoying. There is that.

T H R E A T L I S T

This thing is SO STUPID. Having Registeel as your main, and only Psychic Resist, comes with the problem that this THING suddenly becomes an unbearable presence. Apparently people have forgotten this thing is RU so I dont see it much, and I dont know why cause there are matchups were this is free wins. Magic Guard makes it immune to Spikes to wearing it down through that isnt an option... What I do to beat this thing with the team, besides praying, is force myself to set up with Flygon and erase it with +1 Devastating Drake or start setting up alongside it with Gardevoir so something else can revenge kill it later in the match. Apply offensive pressure with the rest of the team. Never put yourself in a condition where it can grab a boost, like after using Leaf Storm with Roserade.

Again, using Registeel as your steel and stuff to pivot into special attackers means offensive ghosts become quite problematic, especially those that have means to avoid status. Hoopa can Sub on Registeel for free if it lacks iron head and force to sack at least 1 mon to break the substitute and force it out / kill it. Mismagius has the combination of taunt + nasty plot and there is no "Resist" besides Regi so play carefully. Hoopa is slow so many members can outspeed it and dispose of it and Mismagius is hella weak if you can force it to use the Z-Move. If I see a mismagius I have no problems trading my Moltres and Flygon to kill it but it is certainly massively annoying, and it makes me miss the sneasel :(

This monster is RU for some goddamn reason, but I guess it isnt its fault. This Pokemon is crazy good and Curse sets can become a giant snowball if you dont stop it on time. What I do to handle it is go to Kabutops, knock it off so the leftovers/figy berry dont do its thing, and either beat it with stone edge or force it to rest so I can grab setup opportunities with Flygon and Gardevoir. Tricky I know but perfectly doable since Rest can be a double edged sword. No switch-ins for banded tho o3o

Ah, the ant. You either love it or you hate it, no in between. Regarding of it only hitting 80% of the time, this is a big threat. Scarf can be pivoted around but it is still really good and has the coverage to nail Moltres on the switch and you basically lost the way to kill it. Keep Moltres at all costs in order to revenge kill Hone Claws or Life Orb cause otherwise you lose, certified, or you can pray it misses since that's a play too.

Final words

Meh, I just hope this team remains viable since the tier is bound to change drastically soon. Hope everyone enjoys, far from the perfect team but it is different from the standard and many know thats my way of doing stuff.

Cheers and have fun!
