Carracosta @ Life Orb
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Shell Smash
- Hydro Pump
- Stone Edge
- Ice Beam

Most players expect Carracosta to be Physically based making Gurdurr a good switch in usually but I've opted for a Specially based set that OHKO's Gurdurr with Hydro Pump after a Shell Smash and rocks damage.

+2 252 SpA Life Orb Carracosta Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Gurdurr: 399-472 (106.9 - 126.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Kabutops @ Waterium Z
Ability: Swift Swim / Weak Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet / Superpower

I don't like how these "lure that threat" threads have become "post a random z-move" which hinders creativity. I will do this this week but in the coming weeks I am going to seriously try and post a non-z-move lure.

That being said, Waterium Z Kabutops is cool. Most people will switch Gurdurr into Kabutops assuming it is Rockium Z, as they can easily tank a Waterfall and OHKO back with Drain Punch. However, +2 Hydro Vortex demolishes Gurdurr, as well as other Fighting-types and Torterra. Unfortunately Rockium is almost always better but this is a decent lure :D Swift Swim is used over Weak Armor to make it a more effective lure (Mach Punch KOs with some chip at -1 Defense) but you could definitely use it. Adamant gets the guaranteed OHKO but Jolly Superpower can be used if you're weak to Ferroseed or have Spikes as that nets the OHKO.

+2 252+ Atk Kabutops Hydro Vortex (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 373-439 (100 - 117.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Kabutops Hydro Vortex (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 339-400 (90.8 - 107.2%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

i hate mondays (Persian-Alola) @ Psychium Z
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Dream Eater
- Thunderbolt

Basically, it sets up a Nasty Plot as Gurdurr switches in and then proceeds to smack it with a Shattered Psyche.

164+ Atk Gurdurr Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Fur Coat Persian-Alola: 86-104 (31.7 - 38.3%) -- 95.8% chance to 3HKO

+2 252 SpA Persian-Alola Shattered Psyche (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 96 SpD Eviolite Gurdurr: 534-630 (143.1 - 168.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

All the good viable lures are taken so here have some shitty memes

Miltank (F) @ Psychium Z
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Curse
- Zen Headbutt
- Body Slam
- Milk Drink

Miltank is normally an easy Gurdurr switch in not only for the obvious type advantage but also for the chance of nabbing a Guts boost from the status moves that Miltank likes to spam. Offensive Miltank with Z Zen Headbutt can do big damage to Gurdurr as well as take Drain Punches relatively well at +1. As an added bonus -1 speed Miltank still outspeeds standard Gurdurr meaing all you need to do is hit Gurdurr once on the first switch in then Curse later on in the battle and smack dat boi with +1 Shattered Psyche (or just get rocks up).

+1 252+ Atk Miltank Shattered Psyche (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 316-374 (84.7 - 100.2%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Lycanroc @ Normalium Z
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thrash
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Accelerock

This is the shittiest meme of the three. Fun fact: Lycanroc doesn't learn Giga Impact or even Double-Edge so Thrash is the highest BP move that Lycanroc has to hit Gurdurr. You need a good amount of chip before you can KO Gurdurr with +2 Breakneck Blitz, so getting rocks up and hitting Gurdurr with a Stone Edge or two is necessary.

+2 252 Atk Lycanroc Breakneck Blitz (190 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 289-341 (77.4 - 91.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Liepard @ Psychium Z
Ability: Limber
Happiness: 0
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dream Eater
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Here's probably the most viable lure but its also the same thing as the Alolan Persian set above so yea. +2 Shattered Psyche easily Ohkos and unboosted kills after a Dark Pulse or a bit of chip. I do have to say though this set is largely inferior to the Alolan Persian set because of Liepard's lack of bulk. Mach Punch can KO Liepard after a bit of chip which can make the lure ineffective. You can still hit em on the switch so just predict good bop.

252 SpA Liepard Shattered Psyche (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 96 SpD Eviolite Gurdurr: 296-350 (79.3 - 93.8%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 SpA Liepard Shattered Psyche (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 96 SpD Eviolite Gurdurr: 590-696 (158.1 - 186.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I know the rules, but I just wanted to share the other lures too. I'm nominating the Miltank set so vote based on that.

Absol @ Fairium Z
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch

So the point of this sets is to Swords Dance on the switch that is supposed to lure Gurdurr and hit him with a super effective Play Rough/Twinkle Tackle. Adamant max attack Gurdurr can't OHKO full HP Absol with mach punch, so there is also that.

252+ Atk Absol Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 296-350 (79.1 - 93.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

+2 252+ Atk Absol Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 592-698 (158.2 - 186.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Gurdurr Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Absol: 186-222 (68.6 - 81.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

First post yay!

Palossand.png

Palossand @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Water Compaction
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic
- Shore Up

Basically you switch Palossand into a fighting-type move, Gurdurr goes for Knock Off, Weakness Policy activates, and you Psychic for the kill.

+2 252 SpA Palossand Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Gurdurr: 378-446 (101 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

192+ Atk Gurdurr Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Palossand: 88-104 (28.2 - 33.4%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO

Even if they predict and Knock Off as you switch it's fine. The only thing you have to worry about is if they get scared and switch out.

The winner of this week is Baguette Syndrome with his Z Dream Eater Alolan Persian set congratz!

Week 2

Weezing @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Sludge Bomb
- Will-O-Wisp
- Toxic Spikes

Weezing is one of the most common pokemon in PU because it's a reliable check to common fighting types as well as less common ground types. Luring Weezing can open up opportunities for other teammates to clean up. The spread is meant to Taunt Carracosta before it can set up. Happy Luring!

Shiinotic @ Leftovers / Psychium Z
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Spore / Strength Sap
- Dream Eater
- Moonblast

Here is a set I made a while back that I posted in creative and underrated sets. It originally came about when I needed something for my team that could lure Weezing and didn't lose to Sableye.

252+ SpA Shiinotic Dream Eater vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Weezing: 248-292 (74.4 - 87.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ SpA Shiinotic Shattered Psyche (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Weezing: 442-522 (132.7 - 156.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Kangaskhan @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Facade
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake

The idea of this set is to take the incoming Will-O-Wisp and retaliate with Facade. In a 1v1 scenario you go for Fake Out first, then for a Double Edge and most of the time Weezing will try to burn you. Facade is the icing on the cake. This set also functions vs Sableye or when you want some kind of status absorber.

252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Fake Out vs. 248 HP / 164+ Def Weezing: 48-57 (14.4 - 17.1%) -- possible 9HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 164+ Def Weezing: 142-168 (42.6 - 50.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge
252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Facade (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 164+ Def Weezing: 165-195 (49.5 - 58.5%) -- 68% chance to 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
