Custom Avatars: Better Instructions?

I have a server, and it is connected to our Github. I want to get Custom Avatars going, but the README provided was as dry as the desert.

It had no real instructions other than "Place avi's in this directory."
Uh, how?

Through Github, PC?

Do I copy an image address and past it under the README?
Does it need Img src or something?

I need better instructions, or a Detailed explanation.

The server is not linked to my PC, and I have watched that video many times. The server Owner might have access to those files, but I do not.

Assuming the host doesn't use VPS, and that he/she is running the server on their computer, you wouldn't be able to edit the config files, etc which are needed to add the avi's. I suggest just PMing the Owner and asking them to add them for you
