It demands SACRIFICE!

Great movepool, containing moves such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Megahorn, and Swords Dance.

Now has access to Speed Boost as a hidden ability.

Surprisingly good defensive typing; grants a 4x resistance to Fighting-type and Grass-type moves, as well as an immunity to Toxic.

[Cons]

Lower overall defenses.

Stealth Rock weakness hurts.

Faces fierce competition with Greninja as an offensive Spiker.

[Set Recommendations]

Scolipede @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Spikes
- Swords Dance / Toxic Spikes
- Megahorn
- Baton Pass

With access to Spikes, Scolipede can make an effective lead. Megahorn is your only STAB move to deal some damage if needed, whereas Baton Pass is great for gaining momentum after hazards are laid. Swords Dance allows you to instead pass boosts to a sweeper if the enemy sends out a Pokemon to clear your hazards; however, Toxic Spikes can be used instead if you do not need Scolipede to pass Swords Dance.

Anything capable of blocking Rapid Spin or making use of Swords Dance boosts makes an effective teammate for Scolipede. However, Aegislash is easily the best teammate, as it is one of few Pokemon capable of both. Medicham and Lucario are also excellent Baton Pass recipients; they both have incredible Attack and good Speed, along with enough coverage to sweep through teams with ease. Magnezone is also an effective teammate, as it can trap and kill Scolipede's biggest counter: Skarmory.

Scolipede @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA) / Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
- Swords Dance
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Baton Pass / Rock Slide

With access to Swords Dance and Speed Boost, Scolipede also makes an excellent, dedicated Baton Pass user. Megahorn and Earthquake allow Scolipede to deal some damage before it passes its boosts away. Rock Slide and a Jolly Nature are listed as options if you would rather use Scolipede as a full sweeper instead of a Baton Passer.

Your team composition will depend on which move you decide to use. If Baton Pass is taken, powerful physical sweepers such as Lucario, Medicham, and Aegislash all make excellent teammates, as they can all do wonders with boosts to their Attack and Speed. If Rock Slide is taken instead, Zapdos is Scolipede's greatest teammate, as it is capable of beating all of Scolipede's primary counters with ease. Magnezone is another effective teammate, no matter which move is taken in the fourth slot, as it can trap and kill the Steel-types that wall Scolipede.

[Checks and Counters]

With the combination of Spikes and Baton Pass, very few Pokemon can prevent Scolipede from doing one of its jobs. Considering this, Skarmory is Scolipede's only true counter. It can clear away Scolipede's hazards with Defog, phaze Scolipede or its Baton Pass recipient with Whirlwind, or just kill Scolipede outright with Brave Bird. Crobat also makes for a great check to all sets lacking Rock Slide, as it can also clear hazards with Defog or kill Scolipede with Brave Bird. Talonflame is also an excellent counter to sets lacking Rock Slide, as it can switch into Megahorn and Earthquake and OHKO with priority Brave Bird. Aerodactyl is another effective check to the Lead set, as it can prevent hazards from being set out with Taunt, and proceed to kill Scolipede with either of its STAB moves. However, it must be careful of the Swords Dance set, as a boosted Megahorn will OHKO it.

I wonder if the full-on ninjask-style set is worth trying? Sub/Protect/Baton Pass/Filler @ Mental Herb. Advantages over ninjask include increased offensive presence, not being so vulnerable to ice shard or SR, and the ability to absorb Toxic Spikes. Bulk should be comparible, assuming that scolipede invests in speed significantly and ninjask doesn't at all. I'm not really sure what the state of full baton pass is atm though.

edit: it also gets iron defense, so that makes it far better than ninjask.

To me, it seems that the first and third set are really rather similar. I'm not on QC any more, but I'd recommend combining them, or just removing the last one since the first one is significantly better.

also, wtf is Earthquaka?

- I don't really think a Ninjask-style Baton Pass set is worth adding; if anything, it would be in Other Options, which I can't add.
- Removed, and added a slash for Rock Slide over Baton Pass on the first set, as well as a slash for Jolly Nature.
- Fixed, thanks.

Aqua Tail is a BW2 tutor, so it isn't available yet unless I'm missing something.
Fixed, thanks.

On the second set, slash Swords Dance before Toxic Spikes. Swords Dance gives something to Scolipede to do in case the opponent has a spinner or a Defog user that walks all over Scolipede and in general by having both Spikes and SD you are impossible to straight up counter; if the opponent brings in a phazer set up Spikes and if he brings in a spinner or a Defog user not called Skarmory (which doesn't exist atm) set up with Swords Dance and Baton Pass it alongside with the Speed boosts in the next turn.

Doesn't scolipede check mega gengar somewhat because of its resistances, access to speed boost and pursuit/EQ?

A smart Gengar user won't Mega Evolve until he sees what set Scolipede is running, because of Earthquake. And if you run Pursuit on Scolipede, who does not have a STAB bonus or Technician, I will reach through the monitor and smack you.

I was trying out a few sets with Scolipede one was SD and 3 attacks and the other was Protect SD, both set itself up really well since it is now stronger with the extra 10 attack and it's good speed. SD and 3 attacks seems better but Protect almost guarantees you'l outspeed your opponent even if they are scarfed. Maybe look into a non-Baton Pass set.

SD, 3 Attacks.
Scolipede @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Megahorn
- Poison Jab/Superpower

Can also run Iron Tail to so it can do something to flying types or Rock Slide to really give them some trouble.

That is basically the same as the first set. Iron Tail is a bad move in general, Superpower is illegal until Pokebank comes out, and the Fairies are hit pretty hard by Earthquake already, so Poison Jab is unneeded.

EDIT: There we go. I've reordered the sets, placing the lead set first. Teammates have been added for both sets. The C&C section has been completely written up. I'd say this is ready for its third and final QC check.

-Make mention of Aerodactyl in checks and counters.
-Mention Magnezone as a good teammate..
-The last two sentences need rewording as they are misleasing to the reader. If Talonflame is a check and not a counter, you need not mention that it has to watch out for Rock Slide.Talonflame is a full on counter to Scolipede that lack Rock Slide, not a check. In your final sentence you make it seem lime Scolipede got horrid physical defense and that it is taken out with eaae by priority which is not true.

Hmm... would a Choice Band set work on this guy? Thanks to Speed Boost and a now workable Attack stat, Scolipede can become an uncatchable revenge killer if he gets on a roll. Not as useful as a Scarf set with Moxie, sure, but an inverted set on Scolipede may have its uses.

Scolipede (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Megahorn
- Rock Slide
- Poison Jab

Granted, the only reason to use this guy over Heracross is his access to STAB Poison Jab to revenge Fairies or something, plus he's Stealth Rock weak, this set could have merit in lower tiers if Scolipede stays down there.

It works, but not too well. His biggest niches are being able to set up Spikes and gain momentum by passing boosts immediately after, or put a huge dent in the other team before passing boosts to a sweeper to clean up.

-Make mention of Aerodactyl in checks and counters.
-Mention Magnezone as a good teammate..

Alright. Working on those now, although Aerodactyl isn't a very good check. An unboosted Megahorn from the Lead set still chunks him, while he flat-out loses to the Swords Dance set.

EDIT: There! This is finally ready for its final QC check I hope.

Implemented the above check. Also changed all instances of 'he' and 'his' to 'it' and 'its' respectively. Also, you contradicted yourself; for the first half, you change 'it' to 'he'. For the second half, you change 'he' to 'it'.

please be careful with possessive apostrophes. Or rather, please use the more.
pretty good otherwise.

really intrigued by the sash spike/passer set. But whats the point in the speed evs? Wouldn't it be outspeeding most by the second turn anyway?
