UU Cobalion

Cobalion @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock / Megahorn

Cobalion lives up to its title as one of the Swords of Justice with its prowess on the battlefield! Aegislash's departure from UU has led to a drastic rise in usage for Swords Dance Cobalion, which heavily punishes Scizor that attempt to stall Close Combat's PP with Roost. Swords Dance Cobalion retains valuable utility such as punishing Zarude with Rocky Helmet chip and providing entry hazard support. Stone Edge decimates Moltres and deals significant damage to Salamence and Togekiss, and Cobalion can also opt for Megahorn over Stealth Rock to beat Slowking and Tangrowth. However, Cobalion's lack of immediate offensive presence can hold it back, so pivots like Azelf and Thundurus-T are very helpful at overwhelming checks like Amoonguss and Hippowdon. They also help give Cobalion more opportunities to set up against foes like Chansey and Nihilego. Nihilego and Hippowdon can set Stealth Rock to free Cobalion's last slot for Megahorn, and they both appreciate Cobalion luring and removing Slowking. They also help check problematic foes like Moltres and Hippowdon for Cobalion.

Cobalion's title as one of the Swords of Justice shows with its prowess on the battlefield! Aegislash's departure from the UU has caused Swords Dance variants of Cobalion to drastically rise in usage, heavily punishing Scizor that attempt to users who believe they can Roost stall Close Combat's PP. It does so while retaining valuable utility such as punishing Zarude with Rocky Helmet chip and providing hazard support. Coverage moves such as Stone Edge decimates Moltres and deals significant damage to even Salamence and Togekiss, and it can even opt for Megahorn over Stealth Rock for Slowking and Tangrowth. However, Cobalion's lack of immediate offensive presence can hold it back, so pivots like Azelf and Thundurus-T are very helpful for Cobalion to gain setup opportunities against Chansey and Nihilego, especially the latter for its ability to overwhelm shared checks like Amoonguss and Hippowdon with its coverage. I feel you'd switch these points, talk about them fixing cobalion's offensive presence by taking on Amoonguss and Hippowdon and then talk about them luring in Chansey and Nihilego. Nihilego and Hippowdon can act as hazard supporters to free Cobalion's last slot for Megahorn, appreciating Cobalion luring and removing Slowking. Hippowdon also checks Zygarde-10%.
