Postgame
Thank you everyone again for playing. It was unfortunate that we did not get that many signups, and I think that was the reason that this game was unbalanced. So, without further ado, here is my analysis of the game.
With the setup we ended up with, both the Mafia and the Town were under the gun from the very start. Mafia members had very little claimspace and few possible allies, and the Town was short on numbers from the very start. Frankly, it was a miracle that the mafia managed to pull off a win given Nuxl's sound mechanical solution. Also, I think for the whole game everything hinged too much
I must say, overall, the MVP of this game was
Duskfall98. Their cop claim was so convincing that Nuxl completely fell for it and lynched the actual cop. Their ability to read the members of the town was also highly impressive - by the end of Night One, the mafia was almost certain which person was every role. The only thing they got wrong is that they thought that OM room was the RBer. I think it was this mistake that ended up grabbing them the win, along with the fact that Jalmont did not submit a Night 1 action.
However, this does not downplay the role that
vooper played in getting the mafia the win. Their experience with actual Town of Salem allowed them to pull off a play (claiming exe) that I didn't expect to see in this game. What was even more impressive was the fact that they were daring enough to claim their partner as their target. This is what likely got Leonard lynched Day 1 and what gave the mafia the lead going into Night One
On the town side, I would say that
Nuxl played the best game. Despite their mechanical solve not working out in the end, this was due to the great play of Dusk and Vooper. I did not expect the town to come up with a cohesive and powerful strategy that fast and I think that was the reason the game initially tilted heavily towards the town. I think their initial instinct to try and get the executioner on the Town's side was also a very good play that almost guaranteed them a win
Overall, the level of gameplay was high and this game was overall more interesting and less of a sweep than I expected an 8p setup to be. Congrats to our three winners and I hope to host again (I'm already working on an OC setup, but that is going to take me a while to really balance)
