CAP Updates: Arghonaut Competitive Move Poll 1

Okay everyone, it's time for the much-anticipated move poll for Arghonaut's competitive move additions!

Here are your following choices:

Include Spikes
Do Not Include Spikes

Include Ice Hammer
Do Not Include Ice Hammer

Include Close Combat
Do Not Include Close Combat


This poll operates on the multiple bold voting standard, which is detailed here. Make sure to bold your votes and nothing else. A typical vote looks like this:
Include Potato Punch
Do Not Include Hyper Cabbage
Do Not Include Carrot Blast
Include Hidden Power Veggie


Any comments that the voter has would go below the votes in non-bold text. Bold text is used to determine what the user's votes are, so none of the supplementary text should be in bold.
CAP uses automated scripts to count votes. For this reason, it is very important for all ballots to be submitted correctly. If you do not compose a legal ballot, your post will be subject to moderation.
  • The scripts count bold words in ballots, so do NOT bold anything in your ballot other than the options you are voting for.
  • Do NOT put any formatting other than bold in your post.
  • Only one option per line.
  • Spelling of options must be EXACTLY correct and must match the spelling listed above.
  • Capitalization and spaces are ignored by the vote counting scripts, but you probably should not depend on it.
Composing a proper ballot is easy. Enter BBCode Edit Mode (the wrench in the upper right corner). Copy/paste the options directly from the OP to your ballot as plain unbolded text. Delete and/or rearrange the options to suit your preference and the poll type. Bold your vote text using bold tags or re-enter rich text mode, highlight your vote and click B. Spelling or formatting errors may spoil your ballot, so be careful!

The poll will last for 24 hours.

Please post only your votes in this thread. Do not respond to other posts, or your posts will be moderated and you may be warned. You are allowed to say whatever you like in relation to your vote at the bottom of your post, but please do not look to begin a discussion. Keep those comments to #cap on IRC or to the PS CAP Project room.

Don't campaign. Do not ask others to vote for or against any submission. Your vote should be yours alone and you should not attempt to influence the votes of others. If you suspect someone else has campaigned, please keep your information private and only share it with CAP mods (publicly chastising a campaigner may cause other voters to vote differently as well). Campaigning will result in punishment.

I'm a bit torn I that last one, and might change it, but really, what I think Argho needs is an extra utility role, and spikes provides that.

Very iffy on Close Combat, but I personally believe that Argh doesn't directly benefit role-wise from a move that causes defense drops, and Hammer Arm's eventual restriction removal will suffice.

I'm neutral on the other two, but I don't think anyone actually proved we needed Ice Hammer. Wish I saw more calcs with it, but I didn't so it leads me to think its just a generic boost to ice coverage that we don't need. The calcs I did see focused on Tomohawk and Cyclohm, both which outspeed Arghonaut and have SE STAB against it. Furthermore, Tomohawk can roost stall and some of the calcs I did see (Deck's LO) still put Cyclohm in a more than feasible slack off stall range especially if it has leftovers.

I feel the only thing to make Argho great again is to focus on its utility rather than beefing up its offensive presence with more powerful moves, hence why I only feel Spikes is necessary to include.
