[1v1] Meloetta [QC 0/3]

dusk raimon

Banned deucer.
Overview
-Meloetta is a strong bulky offensive special attacker able to OHKO a lot of common offensive pokemon such as Mega Charizard X or Y and Kyurem Black in the metagame
-Meloetta's good natural bulk allows it to take strong hits such as a choice specs dark pulse from Greninja, or an Outrage from Kyurem-Black
-Meloetta's decent defensive typing allows it to take on pokemon such as aegislash with ease
-Meloetta has good coverage options in its movepool to hit a wide range of targets, such as focus blast for pokemon such as Heatran and energy ball for Mega Swampert
-Meloetta is unfortunately able to be OHKOed by very strong physical hits such as an Icium-Z boosted Freeze Shock from Kyurem-Black as it is not incredibly bulky in terms of physical defence
-Meloetta is also unable to beat certain common bulky offensive pokemon which can 2HKO it and outspeed it such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Metagross

Moves

-Shadow Ball is the main coverage move on this set allowing Meloetta to hit ghost types for super effective damage which otherwise wall the mono attacking coverage of this set
-Uproar allows Meloetta to deal consistent damage to opposing pokemon, even through Substitutes, and also allows it to combat pokemon which rely on sleep such as Jumpluff and Snorlax
-Trick allows meloetta to bypass pokemon which would otherwise defeat it by stealing their item and locking them into 1 move, allowing it to defeat pokemon such as Chansey
-Hyper Beam is the main damage dealing move on the set, being able to OHKO many prevalent threats in the metagame such as Mega Charizard-X and Kyurem-Black

Set Details

-Maximum Special attack investment with a modest nature allows Meloetta to hit as hard as possible
-Maximum HP investment allows Meloetta to be as bulky as possible while still hitting incredibly hard
-A modest nature is preferred to any other option because Meloetta's aim is just to nuke whatever it is playing with the appropriate move

Usage Tips

-Most of the time you will be clicking Hyper beam
-Against opponents which could be potentially running substitute such as Charizard Mega-X, or using a tactic involving sleep, such as Jumpluff or Snorlax
-Against pokemon like Chansey which is a slow stall based pokemon which don't use z-moves or hold a mega stone, Trick allows Meloetta to effectively cripple it and chip it into range of a hyper beam

Team Options

-Charizard Mega-X is a good team mate as it is able to easily defeat bulky steels such as Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn and Mega Mawile which can trouble Meloetta
-Kyurem-Black is another good option as it is able to defeat pokemon such as Mega-Lopunny, whether using its scarf set or one of its bulkier sets, as well as other pokemon like that which trouble Meloetta
-Landorus-T is another solid option as it defeats troublesome bulky steels for Meloetta, as well as enjoying the way Meloetta can defeat most Kyurem-Black sets which is a nuisance for Landorus-T

Strategy Comments

Other Options

-No other real viable options

Checks and Counters

-Bulky Steel types: Pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn and Mega Mawile which are all resistant to the normal type attacking coverage of Meloetta and can either outspeed and 2hko with the respective coverage, or just tank all the attacks thrown their way and proceed to stall out meloetta, are very annoying for Meloetta to face
-Bulky Mega Pokemon/Pokemon with a Z-Stone: Pokemon such as Mega Sableye and Blissey, which usually use non-trickable items and are able to easily take Meloetta's attacks are incredibly difficult for Meloetta to bypass as it can not use trick to make for an easier time
-Very strong physical attackers: Pokemon with incredibly strong physical nukes such as Kyurem-Black or Landorus-T can outspeed and OHKO Meloetta as it is not the bulkiest physicalm pokemon

Overview
-Meloetta is a strong bulky offensive special attacker able to OHKO a lot of common offensive pokemon such as both Mega Charizard formes and Kyurem Black in the metagame
-Meloetta's good natural bulk allows it to take strong hits such as a choice specs dark pulse from Greninja, or an Outrage from Kyurem-Black (Also Blast Barn Zard Y)
-Meloetta's decent defensive typing allows it to take on pokemon such as aegislash with ease
-Meloetta has good coverage options in its movepool to hit a wide range of targets, such as focus blast for pokemon such as Heatran and energy ball for Mega Swampert.
- Relatively low speed but it's mostly covered up by its good bulk.
-Meloetta is unfortunately able to be OHKOed by very strong physical hits such as an Icium-Z boosted Freeze Shock from Kyurem-Black as it is not incredibly bulky in terms of physical defence (More: Giga Impact from Mega Pinsir, Z then SP / Ice Shard from Golem / Donphan)
-Meloetta is also unable to beat certain common bulky offensive pokemon which can 2HKO it and outspeed it such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Metagross. This information is kind of different, say that most Steel-types such as... can defeat it as they resist both of its STABs. Then mention bulky off mons like Mdos separately.

Hyper Beam --> Uproar ---> Shadow Ball ---> Trick would be better (Not compulsory but just saying :p)

Moves
-Shadow Ball is the main coverage move on this set allowing Meloetta to hit ghost types such as? Aegislash and Alolan Marowak for super effective damage which otherwise wall the mono attacking coverage of this set
-Uproar allows Meloetta to deal consistent damage to opposing pokemon, even through Substitutes, and also allows it to combat pokemon which rely on sleep such as Jumpluff and Snorlax (Won't work against Snorlax as you have mentioned there in the Snorlax analysis; Z-BD straightaway and 2x Frustration so remove it and get a counter to Snorlax in Team Options)
-Trick allows meloetta to bypass pokemon which would otherwise defeat it by stealing their item and locking them into 1 move, allowing it to defeat pokemon such as Chansey.
-Hyper Beam is the main damage dealing move on the set, being able to OHKO many prevalent threats in the metagame such as both Mega Charizard formes and Kyurem-Black. It also forces Meloetta to recharge on the succeeding turn but that mostly doesn't matter in 1v1.

Set Details

-Maximum Special attack investment with a modest nature allows Meloetta to hit as hard as possible (Also Choice Specs)
-Maximum HP investment allows Meloetta to be as bulky as possible while still hitting incredibly hard
-A modest nature is preferred to any other option because Meloetta's aim is just to nuke whatever it is playing with the appropriate move.
- (Add in a line about Its ability Serene Grace; though not that helpful; but increases the chance of getting SpD with Shadow Ball)

Usage Tips
- When to send it, when not to

-Most of the time you will be clicking Hyper beam in order to KO the foe by dealing as much damage as possible.
-Against opponents which could be potentially running substitute such as Charizard Mega-X, or using a tactic involving sleep, such as Jumpluff or Snorlax go for Uproar?
(You should also add in that Meloetta should use Uproar against Pokemon that cannot be OHKOed by Hyper Beam or that can be OHKOed by Uproar to avoid missing Hyper Beam such as... Greninja and Kartana)

-Against pokemon like Chansey which is a slow stall based pokemon which don't use z-moves or hold a mega stone, Trick allows Meloetta to effectively cripple it and chip it into range of a hyper beam This is there in the moves

Team Options

-Charizard Mega-X is a good team mate as it is able to easily defeat bulky steels such as Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn, Genesect, and Mega Mawile which can trouble Meloetta. Also add in the Meloetta supports Megazard X by checking Mega Slowbro, Tapu Lele, Greninja
-Kyurem-Black is another good option as it is able to defeat pokemon such as Mega-Lopunny, whether using its scarf set or one of its bulkier sets, as well as other pokemon like that which trouble Meloetta
-Landorus-T is another solid option as it defeats troublesome bulky steels for Meloetta, as well as enjoying the way Meloetta can defeat most Choice Scarf Kyurem-Black sets which is a nuisance for Landorus-T

Other Options

-No other real viable options Psychic (The move)? I'd rather put that in the main set over Trick or slash ahead of Trick since it hits those Fighting mons, Mega Venusaur and well secondary STAB option.
Also mention Focus Blast for Heatran here since it's mentioned in the overview. While doing that, add in that Focus Blast would also allow Meloetta to defeat Mega Gyarados without Crunch.
I dont know about this one but HP Fire can help against Genesect, Ferrothorn, Most Mega Scizor

Checks and Counters

-Bulky Steel types: Pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn and Mega Mawile which are all resistant to the normal type attacking coverage of Meloetta and can either outspeed and 2hko with the respective coverage, or just tank all the attacks thrown their way and proceed to stall out meloetta, are very annoying for Meloetta to face.

-Bulky Mega Pokemon/Pokemon with a Z-Stone Crystal: Pokemon such as Mega Sableye and Blissey, which usually use non-trickable items and are able to easily take Meloetta's attacks are incredibly difficult for Meloetta to bypass as it can not use trick to make for an easier time

-Very strong physical attackers: Pokemon with incredibly strong physical nukes such as Icium Z Kyurem-Black or Landorus-T can outspeed and OHKO Meloetta as it is not the bulkiest physicalm pokemon. Mention some physical Sturdy as well like Golem, Donphan and some more physical attackers that KO it (Banded Victini, Physical Tapu Koko, Mega Lopunny, Dnite Archeops ;_;)
(Mention some of the super-effective ones as well like Pin Missile from faster Mega Heracross, Hoopa-U, Durant)
Good Analysis
QC 1/3

Edit: Re-read the Trick bullet again, no need to rephrase the whole thing just add in the additional info from Usage Tips there (The Trick part) and instead of stealing it should be switching the item
