Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Another thing that gets overlooked here aswell is that it seems very much like BDSP created a massive technical nightmare with Home compatibility that took around a year to solve. Partly because of lazy intentional coding and partly because they needed to implement a bunch of restrictions to...
I wouldn't say this is them skipping Unova. No reason every Legends game has to be a remake stand in or tied to one -- there's every possibility they'll do something for Unova later on, and I'd rather they give such a remake the love it deserves (especially with two games of plot to consider)...
Kalos had interesting lore but feels like the least complete region both in terms of releases and chronologically -- it had a total of one year as the current "main region" before getting upstaged in its own generation by ORAS for two years. I'm here for them filling out this stuff and getting...
Speaking from a position of unfamiliarity with the meta, has anyone found a way to make Sun work on dragon? It doesn't have any Drought users, but having four very good Protosynthesis abusers and a decent number of fast things that can learn Sunny Day seems like it ought to be worth considering.
I'm not convinced Terapagos is good, necessarily (principally because of its poor matchup with the best mon in the tier), but Tri Attack seems worth considering on it? It hits harder than Tera Starstorm on anything that doesn't resist or negate it, and basically nothing that does resist it...
Is Tri Attack worth considering on this guy? It hits harder than Tera Starstorm against targets neutral to Normal, can easily fish for status given Terapagos' insane bulk, and is unlikely to get PP stalled.
This is a complex question where Koraidon and Flutter Mane are concerned because they will usually speed tie. Does this mean the answer to the question is a coinflip, or is there a consistently reproducible result here?
Does the "new run of the event" mentioned with respect to Walking Wake and Iron Leaves mean anyone can catch them, or will it be limited only to people who were affected by the Bad Egg bug?
Asking because I still haven't completed SV and am unlikely to do so before this event expires, but I'd...
The accuracy loss hurts on a mon like Zoroark, but losing the 20% flinch chance is a pretty big deal aswell (for comparison, Night Daze has a little under 10% chance of negating an opponent's turn via its secondary effect once your own accuracy is accounted for). Not to mention that Night Daze...
Given that Protosynthesis boosts speed by 50% and other stats by only 30%, I think you'd get a lot more power under Sun with the same speed by dropping a few points from SpA and running Specs instead. This does mean you lose speed outside of sun, mind you.
Definitely no knock on the idea of this sort of divergence -- I really liked how Xerneas and Yveltal were very similar "on their face" but ended up playing extremely differently -- but I wonder if the simpler explanation is that they were only considering the weathers/terrains that provide...
Fair point, yeah.
On an unrelated note, I think the otherwise baffling "design" of Iron Leaves is meant to be that it can function well in any of the terrains. It has Grass and Psychic STABs which directly benefit from the relevant terrain, one of its STAB moves also directly benefits from...
Praying against all hope that neither of the new legends have a "combine with another form to unlock its real power in one of two ways" gimmick. Those mons are always enormously obnoxious to optimise on cartridge and I don't get why GF loves the gimmick so much, especially given one of the forms...
