I think that's a language thing. I don't speak Japanese, but I doubt the Japanese word for "Rock" also happens to refer to rock music.

You could make a case for this in XY too actually, in how Korinna doesn't use her two Lucario in the Gym battle.

I've said this before in a different context, but I'll repeat it again because I feel it's relevant: I find it both oddly amusing and frustrating how every time the Zelda series finally gets rid of some of its bullshit, Pokemon adapts it instead.

If anything, I think they should bring Gen 1 Hyper Beam mechanics back (and apply the same to Giga Impact I suppose).

I fully agree actually. My "theory" is more something that I find fun to think about rather than something that I think actually holds any merit.

I posted about this one years ago I believe, but I still enjoy it: I like to think that the reason so many of the Gen 5 mons evolve late is that it's a very subtle jab at American culture being rather conservative, with Unova being based on the US and all. That's probably not true, but it's fun...

I don't know about this. Pokemon games releasing worldwide on the same day ever since X/Y seems to be strong evidence that they DO care about foreign markets to me.

I agree with this. That's just a place you don't want to go if you're making a Pokemon game. Let sleeping Houndooms lie, so to speak. (God, that was the nerdiest thing I've ever said)

Smeargle is super useful though. That's one of the two Pokemon I ever successfully bred, because I wanted one with False Swipe, Thunder Wave, Spore and Soak for catching purposes.

Dunno about that. I of course would rather have them be useful than not, but it still doesn't fix the issue. Sure, something like Fly is useable ingame, but what if I'd rather use Drill Peck instead? What if I prefer Scald over Surf? It's not optimal, even if it's better than being stuck with...
